At Your Library – Northland will be at the Town of McCandless’ Community Day on Saturday, September 10, stop out and say hello. On Sunday, September 11 we will resume our Sunday hours. Feature Focus September is the time to Love Your Library!

NORTHLAND PUBLIC LIBRARY HOURS: Sunday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. I

Why do YOU love Northland? With over 32,000 people coming through our doors every month, it’s clear our patrons love this library! Recently, Catherine Matlack wrote us a letter describing the impact Northland Public Library had on her as a middle school student living within walking distance of the library. “Northland Library was an incredible resource for me. Its proximity allowed me to stop there on my way home from school to start my homework, do research or just check out books for pleasure reading,” Catherine wrote, adding that it helped her to secure a job working in her university’s library years later. September is the ideal time to show your love. Throughout this month, gifts of up to $500 will be partially matched by the Jack Buncher Foundation as all the libraries in Allegheny County participate in the first ever Love Your Library Match Month. All gifts received in September from all sources will count! We’re counting on you, and we’re offering many ways to help! We invite you to write a check or give online. Come out September 1 and 15 for our Tasty Trucks @ Northland food truck fundraisers. Join us at Chipotle in McCandless Crossing on September 19 for a Northland fundraiser. Sign up for iGive at igive.com and do some online shopping. Share our messages on social media and help us spread the word. Another way to Love Your Library is to help us kick off our Learning Garden Capital Campaign. This project will establish a safe and sustainable garden to provide an outdoor learning environment that will encourage hands on learning for all ages. It will serve the needs of our residents to create, explore and discover more about their inner and outer worlds. The Learning Garden will be sensory friendly in order to aid people, especially children, with sensory processing needs. We are focused on inclusion and providing an established space to improve sensory-motor development. It’s just one more way the Northland Public Library is meeting the many needs. Capital campaign gifts will be eligible for the Love Your Library match from the Jack Buncher Foundation, with the donated sums restricted for the garden campaign and matched funds going toward the library’s general fund. We hope you thought of more reasons why you love Northland, and we’re so glad you Love YOUR Library! Please give during this special month!

– Have you tried Gale Legal Forms yet?

Whether you’re selling a car, renting a house, changing your name, or preparing a will, at some point you’re probably going to need a legal form. Failure to “put it in writing” can lead to needless disputes, misunderstandings, and failure to produce the intended result. So where do you find a customizable legal form that you know is from a legitimate source? Try our new database, Gale Legal Forms. Gale Legal Forms helps patrons understand common legal procedures through access to authentic, professional, Pennsylvania-specific documents that have been drafted by attorneys. The step-by-step approach helps you approach legal affairs with confidence. The forms can be very specific. For instance, under the category “Wills – Last Will and Testament – For Divorced People with Children”, there are seven different wills, such as: for Divorced Person Not Remarried with Adult and Minor Children; for Divorced Person not Remarried with Adult Children; and five more variations of wills for divorced people with children. Gale Legal Forms also includes many federal and state forms, such as forms from the Social Security Administration and the Pennsylvania Bureau of Worker’s Compensation. Of course, you should consult an attorney if you have a serious legal problem. The forms are not a substitute for the advice of an attorney. Go to our website, www.northlandlibrary.org/databases and click on Gale Legal Forms. You will need to have your library card number if you are logging in from home. Call us if you have any questions: 412-366-8100 ext. 113.

Michelle states, “I am so thankful for the opportunity to work here. I truly love this place and I will miss everyone when I head back to school.” Ever since she could remember, Michelle’s family encouraged a love of reading and learning. To this day, she still loves books. She brings that love every day to the library, to its patrons, and to the amazing people who she has worked with. Michelle Stiles is a college senior for graphic design and has been a summer intern for the Marketing/Communications Department. Some of her contributions include the design of logos and posters, editing the website, attending meetings and much more. Northland is immensely proud of its committed volunteers who increase Northland’s reputation as a valued community resource. We’re fortunate to include among our volunteers intermediate and senior high students, young mothers, retired professionals and working and stay-at-home supporters.
