North Natomas Jibe

Enhancing our community through advocacy, placemaking, education, and services that make it easier to leave your car at home.

Jibe by Bike

Jibe’s Bicycle Program builds capacity for and expands North Natomas bicycle ridership. We:

• Funded Bike Doc a free, on-demand bike repair service that fixed 942 bikes.

• Hosted a 3-day bike swap in which 200 bikes were gathered and distributed, with funds donated to local youth.

• Mailed resource guides to all residents, provided bike riding education for cyclists varying in age from toddler to senior, and offered a range of classes for newbies to advanced cyclists that want to bike more and drive less.

• Introduced an array of Bike Month activities for cyclists of all skill levels, including hosted bike parties and rides organized by neighborhood ride leaders.

Jibe to School

In nine partner schools, Jibe’s School Program helps families make walking and biking to school an easy choice. Highlights:

• Approximately 15% increase in the number of children consistently walking to school, post-pandemic.

• Natomas Park and H. Allen Hight joined other partner schools in sharing the distinction of having 100+ students walking to school regularly.

• 100 students completed Bike Tech, Jibe’s year-long riding skills and bike repair training at Inderkum High School.

• Students designed 60 transportation-inspired banners which were installed at partner schools.

• 530 students completed Project Ride Smart, Jibe’s 5th grade on-road bike education class.

Jibe to Work

Our services to businesses include tailored programs, funding, and incentives that reward employees and customers for choosing people-powered transportation over driving alone. Jibe:

• Provided grant funding to establish new telework operations.

• Installed bike racks.

• Incentivized bike-to-the-gym promotions at health clubs.

• Engaged businesses in a statewide campaign where partners reduced vehicle miles traveled.

• Partnered with the Natomas Chamber of Commerce and Natomas Unified School District on a new youth workforce development effort.

Advocacy

Jibe stepped up to subsidize public transportation, promote active transportation, submit comment letters to improve development projects, and draw attention to transportation issues and solutions.

Placemaking

Collaborating with community members and stakeholders to transform public spaces that foster a sense of belonging and connection.

Ordinary Income/Expense

* Net income is the result of budget reductions to create funding for future bicycle and pedestrian related infrastructure projects.
