They’re sparkling into the future. Ballerina Jewelers is more than a purveyor of the finest selection of watches and jewelry in St. Maarten/St. Martin. The flagship store on Front Street and Hendrickstraat is a popular landmark. It is not uncommon to hear a local giving directions to the center of town by saying; “It’s near Ballerina Jewelers.”

The store’s connection with the island started some four decades ago when two brothers, jewelers Mike and Peter Mirpuri, and their father Sam set out to offer clients quality items and exceptional service. When Mike made St. Maarten/St. Martin his home in the 1980s, he was unaware of how bright the future sparkled and the pride of place Ballerina Jewelers would hold within the island. Mike quickly worked on developing his business and network of clients and suppliers offering the most sought-after luxury watches and fine jewelry. Mike and Peter, along with their dedicated team, have been fundamental in upholding the reputation Ballerina thrives on today. This commitment to outstanding quality can be traced back to the jewelry business’ motto: “We aim to please.” In the fall of 2014, the brothers opened a Longines Flagship Boutique, the first in the Caribbean. The store is a stone’s throw from Ballerina. Since its founding in 1987, Ballerina Jewelers and its sister stores continue to build their clientele at home and abroad. Moreover, business success has led to growth of another kind, one both brothers are even more proud of — the third generation of family members joining the business. Holding a prominent place in the business, for example, is Peter’s son Nitin, who was raised in St. Maarten. The new generation upholds the same family values and continues Ballerina Jewelers’ legacy.
