We are thrilled to unveil the Summer 2023 Issue of The Wedding Mag. With the warm sun shining upon us, this season exudes romance, joy, and the promise of good things to come. We have two incredible stylized shoots that took place for this issue, giving you a little extra inspo for your wedding day. Our Pretty In Pink shoot took place at The Spohn Ballroom, and it is truly captivating with pink florals, tablescapes to swoon over, and a gorgeous bride to pull it all together. Next is our Lakeside Romance shoot that took place at Lakeside Pavilion Event Center. Full of whimsy and romance, this stylized shoot makes you feel like you are looking at poetry expressed through photos.

Our wedding vision was rustic, warm and simple. White flowers and full of eucalyptus. I’ve always wanted to get married in a place that is beautiful and doesn't require a lot of decorations, a place that is warm and inviting. County Line Orchard is effortlessly beautiful, and the wood and twinkle lights made for the perfect fall wedding.

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING DAY

When I think back on our wedding day, I still get emotional. The morning went so smooth, and it flew by. Our amazing Day-of Coordinator took care of everything, so I didn’t have to lift a finger. In the moments leading up to our first look, it still didn’t feel real. I remember my photographer, Kenzi, coming up to me and saying, “Are you ready? Josh looks so handsome.” I instantly had tears in my eyes. During our first look it started to rain and then snow, it was SO magical. Which was how the

rest of the evening went. There is no better feeling than celebrating your love with your new spouse, surrounded by all of your family and friends. We wanted everyone to have fun, dance all night and enjoy some White Castle sliders. It perfectly describes who we are as a couple. I don’t remember if anything went wrong, and if it did, it doesn’t matter because it was perfect.

YOUR ADVICE TO ENGAGED COUPLES

My biggest advice is to concentrate on what you and your fiancé want. I cannot stress enough that this day will fly by, and it’s so important that you create boundaries with other people. It’s your day!

Don’t stress the small stuff. At the end of the day, it won’t matter if there were flowers missing or if it rains. It’s all about your love and celebrating your marriage!!!

Brandon and I woke up at 3am to do a sunrise hike on Cadillac Mountain at Acadia National Park. When we got to the top just as the sun was coming up he asked me to marry him. We then celebrated with mimosas and a much deserved breakfast.

I knew immediately that I wanted to get married during the fall when the leaves were changing. We wanted something simple but beautiful, and we found that with the Old Bag Factory. I wanted lots of candlelight which I incorporated on all the tables and the twinkle lights they had were perfect!

My favorite part of our wedding day was sneaking away before the ceremony to Ox Bow Park with our amazing photographer, Brandi. It was so nice to be able to spend a bit of alone time with Brandon on such a hectic day. Bonus, some of my favorite pictures came from this portrait time!

The Pavilion prepared two delicious dishes. The first dish was an eight-ounce prime sirloin steak topped with compound butter, mushrooms, onions and peppers, served with pecorino rosemary potatoes. The second dish was a seared salmon filet with pernod creamed spinach, pecorino-rosemary potatoes and green beans.

Designer Desserts designed a beautiful emerald green three tiered cake with cascading floral provided by Dixon’s Florist. The slight gold shimmer on the cake reflected perfectly with the lighting.

Our engagement was on May 20, 2020, in Naperville, IL. We met in undergrad at North Central College in Naperville, so what better spot to pop the question?! In our favorite town, with our favorite coffee from Sparrow Coffee. He wrote "Future Mrs. Pignone" on the coffee cup and dropped to one knee. A very private and sentimental moment, as he gave me an engagement ring made with my mother's and his mother's diamonds. The rest is history!

My wedding vision was FALL! Everything had to be fall-themed and fall-colored, we love fall! My mom, Danielle Liss, was the real MVP. No wedding planner, no event coordinator, just a mother and daughter dynamic duo. She made my wedding dreams come true, and I will always be so lucky to have a mother like her!

Miriam & Anthony’s day was full of happiness & laughter from start to finish! While there was heavy rain in the forecast, the clouds eventually parted & we were able to enjoy taking outdoor portraits…their smiles were contagious! Both the bride & groom created such an easy-going atmosphere, yet the day was also very meaningful & centered in their faith. Aside from a quick trip to the nearby riverwalk for some photos, the day began in the beautiful St. Pius Catholic Church of Granger. It then ended at The Chicory Cafe of Mishawaka (where the bride & groom had their very first date!). Not only did the reception venue hold sentimental value, it also provided plenty of room for the incredible dance party that took place with their guests after dinner! The Mr. & Mrs. chose a mix of quality local vendors, with a few DIY projects by the bride herself to create a unique space to celebrate their union.

DESCRIBE YOUR ENGAGEMENT

We had a trip planned to Costa Rica in the summer of 2021 and Will initially planned to propose there. However, the Sunday afternoon a few days before our trip, as we were cooking together in our apartment, Will decided to spontaneously propose at that moment. This was our first apartment together and we moved there in March 2020. Because of the Pandemic, moving in together was a very special experience because we became each other’s entire social circle, roommates, and coworkers all at once. We had to be creative with a lot of at-home date nights the first few months of living together. So, it was very fitting that we got engaged there. Then we spent our entire trip celebrating our engagement.

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING VISION

The wedding was inspired by nature. We had our wedding at a country club in July, and we wanted to bring the beauty of the greenery from the outside into our ceremony and reception. To reflect that, our chosen colors were sage green and white. These colors were incorporated in the wedding party’s attire and the bridal party’s bouquets. We also tried to have plenty of leafy green plants and two different types of centerpieces at the reception, both of which incorporated green plants such as eucalyptus. We also had plenty of small trees and bushes throughout the reception. Lastly, instead of using table numbers, we named our tables after trees (for example, cedar and juniper).

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING DAY

The morning of the wedding, the bridal party got ready and had brunch separately. Once everyone was ready, the groom and his party arrived at the venue and we had the first look and formal photographs. We wanted to get all of the formal photography done prior to the ceremony so that we could enjoy the cocktail hour with our guests. We had the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception at Sand Creek to make it easier on our guests (and to minimize driving). During the ceremony and reception, we incorporated several Russian traditions because the bride is originally from Kazakhstan. We wanted to incorporate only traditions that we really enjoyed from both cultures. During the reception, we also had a choreographed first dance. Prior to the end of the reception, we also served a late-night snack and provided transportation for our guests.

YOUR ADVICE TO ENGAGED COUPLES

We would recommend taking dance classes prior to your wedding day. We had 10 classes leading up to the wedding with a dance instructor who choreographed our first dance. Obviously, this improved the quality of our first dance and added a little bit of extra exercise to our weekly routine. But more importantly, it was a fun weekly activity that we committed to doing together. The last few weeks leading up to the wedding were really busy with a lot of things on our to-do list. So, it was especially nice knowing that no matter what, we still have one date night every week just to have fun and enjoy each other’s company.
