Head into the Olympic Forest
Holiday tree permits are available through12/24 fs.usda.gov
Hood Canal trees are so fantastic that in 2006 a 45 year old Fraser fir was selected from the Olympic National Forest for the Capitol Christmas Tree. The White House has selected multiple northwest trees for presidential families. For just the cost of a $5 tree-cutting permit you can head out on the hunt. It’s time to begin a new family tradition! Olympic Forest Permits are $5.00 each and are good for one U-cut tree on the Olympic National Forest. Permits may be purchased at any Olympic National Forest office or mail. Olympic National Forest Headquarters Olympia (360-956-2300) Hood Canal Ranger District Office Quilcene (360-765-2200) Hoodsport Visitor Information Center Hoodsport (360-877-2021) There are plenty to choose from and the selective picking allows other trees in the forest room for healthy growth. Permits for cutting Christmas trees in the Olympic National Forest are available in mid-November — and fourth-graders can get them FREE. FJORD 14
