SKODA

NEW SKODA KODIAQ VRS EMERGED

O

ctober is an exciting month for the motoring world as a number of new vehicles will debut for the first time at the Paris Motor Show (also known as Mondial de l'Automobile). It’s the oldest motor show dating back to 1898, and is now held every two years – alternating with the equally important Frankfurt Motor Show. One of the notable world debuts at the show will be the 273bhp Skoda Kodiaq vRS SUV. This model will be Skoda’s high-performance variant of the impressive Kodiaq. The only offered engine will be a 237bhp 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel with 500Nm of torque. It will include Dynamic Chassis Control system and all-wheel drive and offer a DSG automatic gearbox as standard. Key design features include 20” alloy wheels, LED headlights, dual exhausts, dynamically styled front & rear bumpers and the usual vRS sport seats & logos. Its blistering performance was confirmed earlier this year when professional racing driver, Sabine Schmitz, set the Nürburgring record for a seven-seater SUV – completing the 12.9-mile circuit in 9mins 29.8secs.

KIA e-Niro available by the end of 2018

K

ia has unveiled its newest electric vehicle, the e-Niro SUV which will have a European homologated WLTP combined cycle range of up to 301 miles when it goes on sale at the end of the year. The car will be fully revealed at the Paris Motor Show in October, joining Kia’s low emission range of existing electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. The model will available with a choice of two batteries: a high-capacity 64kWh lithium-ion polymer battery with a travelling combined range of up to 301 miles, or the standard 39.2kWh battery with a range up to 193 miles. E-Niro uses a range of technologies to enhance the car’s range and improve battery efficiency, including regenerative braking, Coasting Guide Control (CGC), and Predictive Energy Control (PEC). CGC and PEC work by providing the driver advice on when they could coast in order to harvest additional energy, by using the navigation system to account for upcoming corners and topographic changes. Full UK specification, pricing and sale date is expected to be announced after the Paris Motor Show.

PEUGEOT

All Peugeot Cars are WLTP Certified 

DISCOVER MORE HERE

The new WLTP protocol (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure) has become mandatory on 1 September 2018 for all passenger cars sold in the European Union. The entire Peugeot passenger car range has been found to be compliant with the new WLTP emissions testing procedure that comes into force on 1 September. Due to the technologies available on the PureTech and BlueHDi engines launched in September 2017, Peugeot vehicles are already in compliance with the NOx, CO2 and particulate matter thresholds of the new regulation. Peugeot decided to invest ahead of time in the most efficient pollution control technologies, including the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, introduced back in 2013 on BlueHDi engines, and the Petrol Particulate Filter on PureTech direct-injection petrol engines. The WLTP test is based on realistic vehicle driving cycles resembling as closely as possible real conditions of use in terms of distance, average speed, stopping times and temperature. These tests produce certified fuelconsumption and emissions figures that are more representative of customer usage and the exact configuration of the vehicle. In addition, test-bench results for CO2, NOx and particulate emissions are verified in real conditions on the road. Peugeot also continues to offer motorists an estimate of the real world fuel consumption of its models consistent with a protocol developed with two NGOs, Transport & Environment and France Nature Environment, and results certified by Bureau Veritas.
