HYBRID QASHQAI RUMOURS!
T
he next generation Nissan Qashqai is expected to be released in 2020 and according to Auto Express it may feature two new hybrid powertrains. The vehicle will have a sleek design makeover and sit on a new CMF (Common Module Family) platform from the Nissan, Renault and Mitsubishi alliance which can accommodate hybrid technology. Speaking exclusively to Auto Express, Ponz Pandikuthira, vice-president of product planning for Nissan Europe, said: “We are looking at a new platform because that’s what’s best to accommodate electrified technologies. “It probably won’t include full electrification, because that’s a complete tear-up and the investment required for that would be considerably higher.” A fully electric SUV is also expected to follow the next Qashqai. The model will have a separate name and is likely to underpin a whole family of electric cars spanning B, C and D segments. We will keep you update as we hear more information regarding the Nissan Qashqai developments. MORE INFORMATION FOR CLICK HERE

head of its forthcoming launch the Skoda Kodiaq vRS has set the Nürburgring lap record for a seven-seat SUV. The SUV completed the 12.9-mile circuit in just 9mins 29.8secs, driven by professional racing driving Sabine Schmitz. The vehicle is currently undergoing final stages of its testing programme and is expected to include dramatic new styling, together with revised front and rear bumpers, and more design details around the front grille. The vehicle will make its full debut at the Paris Motor Show in October. A 237bhp 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel will be offered with the Kodiaq vRS, also boasting Dynamic Chassis Control, all-wheel drive and a
DSG automatic gearbox as standard. Speaking after the recent lap record, Skoda's head of compact models Frantisek Drabek said: "The Kodiaq vRS equally embodies the versatility and spaciousness of a family SUV as well as emotion and dynamism." The Czech brand is currently focusing on a vast range of new vehicles, rumours include Superb and Kodiaq plug-in hybrids and expanding the vRS range.

KIA KIA UNVEILS NEW SPORTAGE WITH NEW POWERTRAIN, TECHNOLOGIES AND FRESH DESIGN. CLICK HERE TO READ MORE
K
ia Motors has revealed the New Kia Sportage, introducing a range of enhancements to the brand’s UK, European and global best-seller. The new model pairs an updated exterior and interior design with new safety and infotainment technologies. Powertrains are also fully-compliant with future emissions standards. The Sportage’s advanced new EcoDynamic+ 48V diesel mild-hybrid powertrain is the first to be launched as part of the brand’s global powertrain electrification strategy. Kia is the first manufacturer to offer hybrid, plug-in hybrid, battery-electric and 48-volt mild-hybrid technology across its full model line-up. Kia will launch 16 advanced powertrain vehicles by 2025, including five new hybrids, five plug-in hybrids, five battery-electric vehicles and, in 2020, a new fuel-cell electric vehicle.
speed doubleclutch transmission. All powertrains are now fully compliant with the Euro 6d TEMP emissions standards.
Updates to attractive Kia SUV design Improvements to the Sportage’s sporty exterior design include new front and rear bumpers, as well as redesigned front and rear lamps and new 16-, 17- and 19-inch alloy wheel designs. Options include chrome sill trim and metallic skid plates, and five new paint colours.
Upgraded powertrains include new EcoDynamics+ diesel mild-hybrid The Sportage now offers a wider range of engines, including Kia’s new ‘EcoDynamics+’ 2.0-litre ‘R’ diesel mild-hybrid powertrain. EcoDynamics+ supplements acceleration with power from a 48-volt battery and extends engine ‘off time’ with a new Mild-Hybrid Starter-Generator unit. It can reduce CO2emissions by up to four per cent on the Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP). The Sportage’s existing 1.7-litre CRDi (Common-Rail Direct injection) diesel engine has been replaced with Kia’s efficient new 1.6-litre ‘U3’ CRDi engine, the cleanest diesel engine Kia has ever made. The new 1.6-litre diesel engine produces 115 or 136ps, with higher-powered models available with all-wheel drive and seven-
Smart safety technologies and new infotainment systems The new Sportage adopts Kia’s latest advanced driving assistance systems, including Smart Cruise Control with Stop&Go, an Around View Monitor for easier parking manoeuvres, and Driver Attention Warning, to combat fatigue and inattentiveness at the wheel. European customers have a choice of Kia’s new infotainment systems: a 7.0-inch touchscreen, or a new ‘frameless’ 8.0-inch infotainment system.

Peugeot PEUGEOT has revealed the all-new SW version of the PEUGEOT 508, bringing striking new looks to the highly competitive D-segment estate car market.
never be far from the latest in automotive technology, seated comfortably in a desirable, high-tech world imbued with elegance. Alongside the latest generation PEUGEOT i-Cockpit®, providing all the information essential for the road ahead, the driver can enjoy the latest in-car sound system with a top of the range hi-fi system designed by FOCAL®. With 10 loud-speakers fitted with exclusive FOCAL®technology, this system provides pure, fine sound that is perfectly distributed throughout the all-new PEUGEOT 508 SW. Technological advances also come into play to provide a wide range of latest-generation driving aids ensuring the all-new PEUGEOT 508 SW meets Euro NCAP criteria. New features for the range include Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, Lane Keeping Assist and a Night Vision system - a first for the segment. This system utilises an infra-red camera to detect living beings in front of the vehicle at night time or in low-visibility conditions to maximise safety.
All-New Design The all-new PEUGEOT 508 SW differentiates itself from competitors in the segment by bringing the radical styling traits of the saloon to the estate car. At just 1.42 m in height and 4.78 m long, the all-new PEUGEOT 508 SW’s new dimensions give it an extremely dynamic body shape, stylised by smooth, flowing lines and a sleek, low roof. The bold design of the all-new PEUGEOT 508 SW is enhanced further by exterior details, including frameless doors - a unique estate car feature for a mainstream carmaker, full LED headlights and the vertical visual signature of the opalescent LED daytime running lights.
Engine Developments in engine efficiency have been driven towards delivering best-in-class CO2emissions figures, with the new generation PureTech and BlueHDi engines. The two new petrol options – a 180 S&S EAT8 and 225 S&S EAT8 – are based on the PureTech 1.6-litre engine. Four diesel options are based on the BlueHDi 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre – a 130 S&S BVM6, 130 S&S EAT8, 160 S&S EAT8 and 180 S&S EAT8. Our petrol engines are certified to Euro6d-TEMP and our Diesel engines are certified to Euro6d-TEMP-EVAP. In ECO mode, when twinned with the EAT8 gearbox, the PureTech engine automatically switches to freewheeling mode. This function, available between 25km/h (15mph) and 130km/h (80mph), eases internal friction in the gearbox and reduces fuel consumption by around 3%. In the second half of 2019, the range will be supplemented by an efficient Plug-in Hybrid petrol powertrain with an extended ZEV range of 50 km (WLTP cycle). The batteries will be located under the row 2 seats to preserve the roomy boot.
Interior The interior of the all-new PEUGEOT 508 adds to the quality and stylish design of the car whilst also maximising in-car comfort for driver and passengers. It features ergonomic, wrap-around seats offering five multi-point massage programmes, a range of premium and sophisticated trim and upholstery materials and a panoramic opening glass roof. With the aid of the Magic Flat function, allowing the driver to fold back the two sides of the rear bench seat, the all-new PEUGEOT 508 SW is never short of space, boasting a total load space capacity of 1780 litres. Of this total volume, 530 litres comes from the boot (with luggage cover closed), designed to be simple in shape and entirely practical, with hands-free, powered tailgate.
The all-new PEUGEOT 508 SW will be unveiled at the next Paris Motor Show and will be available in the UK from January 2019. A plug-in Hybrid powertrain is expected to arrive in the second half of 2019.
