Classical Music Concerts October 2018 – May 2019
WELCOME Norwich can already boast a buoyant array of classical music concerts and both the city and the county benefit from a large and thriving amateur music-making community. The Theatre Royal, with its large stage, auditorium and front of house space, is ideally placed to add to this vibrancy by programming larger-scale ensemble concerts on a regular basis and I am delighted that our inaugural season of three concerts in 2017/2018 was enjoyed by over 3,000 people.

It is therefore with great pleasure that we present our second subscription season of concerts with highly regarded international artists and soloists presented alongside the Russian State Symphony Orchestra, the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, the Flanders Symphony Orchestra and the Russian Philharmonic of Novosibirsk. Offering a diverse range of programmes you will find all the details for bookings and discounts in this brochure. In addition, we are also delighted to welcome one of the world’s most renowned period instrument ensembles,The King’s Consort, to the Theatre Royal for the first time in November. In praise of St Cecilia, whose feast day is just before the concert, this concert showcases great masterworks from Purcell, Britten and Handel - a huge treat not to be missed. And in January 2019, another opportunity to relish will be the return of Britten Sinfonia under the baton of highly-esteemed conductor Sir Mark Elder in a concert of works by Brahms, Mahler and Britten. We look forward to welcoming you during this season of concerts - whether you are a committed classical music fan or you’re considering coming to your first professional orchestral concert, then we are sure you will find something to uplift, entertain and inspire you.
