OPENING CONCERT
BAY BAROQUE with CAMERATA TINTA BAROCCA, led by QUENTIN CRIDA, and special guest RICHARD COCK. Richard is presenting his very popular talk, CONDUCT UNBECOMING. In addition, Richard will conduct a ‘Songs of Praise’ on the first Sunday at 3pm with a choir of more than 70 singers. This is the first time ‘Songs of Praise’ will be in the Overberg. Camerata Tinta Barocca, founded by Quentin Crida in July 2004, is a baroque ensemble of string players with harpsichord. (The name is derived from the musicians’ passion for baroque music and red wine…) Our members include some of Cape Town’s finest musicians. Our concerts have met with critical acclaim in the Cape Times and Die Burger, and have been broadcast on Fine Music Radio. Playing music almost exclusively from the baroque era, we invite soloists to perform with us in oratorios as well as in wind, keyboard, and string concertos. Richard Cock has made a significant contribution to music in South Africa since returning in 1980 from an 8-year sojourn in the United Kingdom. During those years he studied at the Royal School of Church Music and then gained experience in church music and education ending his days abroad as assistant organist and Director of Music at the Cathedral Choir School in Chichester.
IT’S COOKING
COOK OFF COOK OFF with Peter Tempelhoff (Grande Chef of the McGrath Collection) and Jenny Morris, the Giggling Gourmet, at the Marine Hotel. Taste is the most obvious, as is aroma. For Jenny touch is also important. "Feeling your food is important," she says. "Caress it, stroke it, know it intimately." How you eat your food will reveal what kind of lover you are. "You don't want someone who eats a sosatie (kebab) with a knife and fork,"
says Jenny with the naughty spontaneous laugh that has earned her the moniker of Giggling Gourmet. Jenny Morris - AKA The Giggling Gourmet - is one of SA's most-loved food personalities. she is an author, magazine writer, radio and TV presenter, celebrity chef, teacher and culinary tour guide who has had an ongoing love affair with food since she was a child, when she started making mouth watering treats for school fundraisers. Peter Tempelhoff - In January 2008 he accepted the position to oversee the 5 Relais Chateaux restaurants within 'The Collection by Liz McGrath'. Since then he has been awarded 3 Stars in The Rossouw's Restaurants guide and the Eat Out Top 10 award for The Greenhouse. Between The Plettenberg, The Marine and The Cellars-Hohenort Hotels, Peter is currently holding 9 Rossouw's stars, more than anyone else in the guide's history and the country. Sand @ The Plettenberg has also won best hotel restaurant on the Garden Route for 2 years in a row, by CXPress Newspaper, for 2009 and 2010.
COOKING COURSES
TARTING UP THE TART with Jenny Kilzer, a Cook n Look and more‌ Many chefs can cook "beautiful" food - not all however are capable of, or prepared to share this knowledge with others. Albin and Jenny Kilzer both have a passion for cooking, teaching and people. Without this healthy combination - love of food, pleasure in sharing knowledge and love for people, there would be no cookery school. Indeed, this three sided love affair led to the establishment of Kilzers Kitchen Basics in 1999. Take a dash of speed, a bucket load of laughs and add to this 1 Albin, 1 Jenny, a generous sprinkling of fabulous Kilzers Kitchen personnel and the final ingredient, fold in the Kilzer daughters Gabi and Emma. Mix together vigorously on a Wednesday night adding a 3 course meal, fine wine and MUCH kitchen theatre (compliments of Albin and Jenny's kitchen banter) and you have the PERFECT, SUBLIME, FUN, FABULOUS and totally unique KILZERS KITCHEN Cook n Look. Kilzers Kitchen Cook n Look Evenings are indeed a unique experience. The busy and extremely well equipped kitchen becomes centre stage for around 70 guests who get to watch a magnificent 3 course meal being prepared by chefs Albin and Jenny together with their professional kitchen
personnel. It's truly a unique experience where there's much kitchen banter between Jenny and Albin and guests get to ask questions related to their meal being prepared.
