How amazing is Propolis? How amazing is PROPOLIS! Not only do bees make honey but by mixing saliva and beeswax with exudate gathered from tree buds, sap flows, or other botanical sources, they produce a resinous mixture called bee glue or propolis. Propolis being 100% natural has antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. The PROPOLIS TINXTURE is great for stomach ulcers, mouth and gum diseases, immune booster, cold and flu symptoms, ear infections, asthma, tissue regeneration and many more‌ The PROPOLIS HEALING OINTMENT is great for sun spots, cancer spots, eczema, psoriasis, insect bites, burnt wounds, open wounds and many more.. The PROPOLIS AND BEESWAX CREAM is made with natural oils, beeswax and propolis to soothe, moisturize, nourish and rejuvenate your dry, chapped and itchy skin, leaving it smoother, firmer and healthier. As beekeepers we harvest our own propolis from our local hives in the Overberg area, and we only use our own propolis in our Honeysuckle products. And you will also consume it by eating our RAW honey!
The story of the Honeysuckle honey bees Between the Overberg Mountains, not far from the sea, home to the Fynbos floral kingdom, Honeysuckle bees create magic every day. They collect nectar from the wild flowers far and wide along the countryside. Using their long straw like tongues, nectar is drawn from the flowers. Our Honeysuckle honey bees visit around two million flowers to produce a single 500g jar of honey. Now that is nature’s gold! In any one of the Honeysuckle hives, there are three types of bees, a single female queen bee, a number of male drone bees and on average around 40 000 female worker bees. After the nectar is brought in by the worker bees they transform the nectar to the perfect consistency and quality before storing it in the honeycomb cells. Then over time the honey is ripened by fanning their wings causing drafts over the honeycombs. These drafts in turn allow the water in the honey to evaporate to just the right level, leaving the honey ready for harvesting.
Forest bathing, as a calming and healing practice, became known in Japan in the 1980s. The obvious feelgood factors all apply but now we understand more about the physiological benefits, apart from the eye-pleasing scenery, gentle hiking exercise and extra oxygen. Phytoncide is a substance emitted by plants & trees and generally means the aroma of the forest. “Phyton” means “plant” in Latin, and “cide” means to exterminate. Phytoncides are produced to help plants & trees protect themselves from harmful insects and germs, but researchers now offer proof of their enormous health benefits to human life. Read more about forest bathing and your health and happiness.

Coastal Cleanups Antonio da Silva-Swart's passion lies with hiking the coast and organising cleanups along the Whale Coat coastline, either with school learners or volunteers from the area. On the ďŹ rst Saturday of each month, I hold a cleanup of the coast and collect the marine debris with Volunteers. The area gets decided after I have done a reconnaissance of the coast or one of my area specialists lets me know what it looks like in their area. The bags are sponsored by Plastics SA and I take the debris to Whale Coast Conservation Green House in Vermont, for analysing/counting and sorting. The results get emailed to Plastics SA for the annual international coastal cleanup day and yearly results. These results get sent to the International Coastal Cleanup Organisation for global reporting. Volunteers can contact Antonio 0724624271 Please read these articles for more information and inspiration. A man with a passion for cleaning up. Groep maak maandeliks strand skoon. Residents join in cleaning up our coast. Please read more about and support the coastline cleanups! It is fun and you will feel great about your Eco-respecting participation.
