Gala Art Gallery Founding Directors Avetis Berberyan and Noushik Mikayelian have been in the art business for over 15 years. Being the Founding Directors of Gala Art Gallery, Avetis Berberyan and Noushik Mikayelian are renowned artists in Armenia. Avetis Berberyan is a nationally recognized composer who has served as the Director of the Concert -Tour Department of the State Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra ( 1993-2000). Noushik Mikayelian is a renowned poet, and a wide published author in Armenia. After a lifetime of collecting art for the pure joy of it, Avetis and Noushik have been offering a wide variety of quality art to general public, the corporate community and collectors since 1999.In addition to organizing exhibitions, they work closely with private collectors building collections, locating works of art and providing art advisory services.

ARKADI PETROSYAN Born in Yerevan, Armenia in 1933, Arkadi Petrosyan is a leading modern master and an influential scholar of Armenian art. Recognized as a pioneer of figurative abstraction and a founder of amazing 3D ink drawings, he has exhibited throughout the region and abroad and is widely collected by national and international institutions, including the State National Gallery of Armenia, the State Modern Art Museum, Dnepropetrovsk Art Gallery, Ukraine and the Art Fund of Moscow, Armenian Library and Museum of America. Arkadi Petrosyan was a fulltime professor at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Armenia, a position he held for nearly a decade. 1980 - 1984 was the vice-president of the State Union of Painters. Arkadi Petrosyan has held numerous solo and group exhibitions in the region and abroad including Yerevan (1970), Moscow (1972), Berlin (1980), Lisbon (1983), Yerevan (1990), New York (1994), Bern (1995), Bern (2000), Moscow (2000), Tehran (2001), Ravenna (2001), Moscow (2002), Yerevan (2003), Yerevan (2004), Florence (2004), San Francisco (2006), Yerevan (2010), Yerevan (2014).

AREV PETROSYAN Born in Yerevan in 1972, Arev Petrosyan is a leading abstract -decorative painter. She made her reputation from her large-scale, dramatic, compelling, powerful and passionate paintings of gold leafs and mixed media on Plexiglas. Arev Petrosyan's paintings have utilized colors ranging from earthly to brilliant. She has exhibited throughout the region and abroad and is collected by national and international institutions among them The State Contemporary Art Museum, The State National Gallery of Armenia, Palais de l'Europe, Strasbourg. She received her education from the State Academy of Fine Arts, Yerevan, Armenia. Selected solo shows for the artist include AIWA, San Francisco (2014); State National Gallery of Armenia, Yerevan (2012), National Assembly of the RA , Yerevan (2011), Colors of Armenia, Beyrouth (2010). She has participated in recent group shows at Gala Art Gallery, Yerevan (2014), Gala Art Gallery at Beirut Art Fair (2014); Art Monaco 2012, The Thirds Beijing International Art Biennale; China (2008). KARINE MATSAKYAN Born in Gyumri, Armenia in 1959, Karine Matsakyan is a leading interdisciplinary artist who is known for her pop -stance paintings. Consistently referring to pop art, Karine Matsakyan reaffirms the liberal utopia of the 1980's. Pop art is an optimistic art: the advertisement orange color always illuminates instead of the sun. She uses daily symbols rendered by mass media and advertising, in order to deliver post-Soviet reality in her perception. Her "Just Another Day" series is about ordinary life, ordinary dream, and innocent desires of women, which still remains an "other" for an artist living in Armenia. Karine Matsakyan's paintings and installations are housed in public and private collections in Armenia, Europe, Russia and the United states. Her works are collected by national and international institutions among them the Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art, Yerevan, the State Contemporary Art Museum, Yerevan, Modern Art Museum, Vienna, Austria, Tbilisi History Museum, Tbilisi, Museum of Contemporary Art, Tehran.

MOKO KHACHATRYAN The famous Armenian painter Moko's practice revolves around the repeated examination of a single material subject as she explores variations in depth and space through abstracted compositions. After completing a Master of Arts at the State Yerevan Fine Arts Institution, she has trained with her father; the world renowned painter Rudolf Khachatryan in Moscow. HAROUT HAKOBYAN Born in Gyumri, Armenia in 1962, Harout Hakobyan spans periods of time from preRenaissance (shown in his sketches after Leonardo da Vinci) to the 21st century. Through his visions, contemporary news-style images are set against ancient structures, while angels, ignoring time, bring their beneficent charms. In his paintings, we discover the eternal and mystical in our midst. "Blues in the City" - 2014 - Oil on Canvas - 105x126cm Harout Hakobyan's paintings and mixed media collages are a combination of realism and abstraction where the artist stands , becoming the border line between two different times. A winner of the Diploma Award at P. Terlemezian Fine Arts College, Department of Painting, he went on to internship in the museums and galleries of Moscow and St. Petersburg, and at the Academy of Arts of Vilnius, Lithuania, where he studied lithography and etching. In 1991, he graduated from Yerevan Theatrical and Art Institute, Department of Graphic Arts. HASMIK GASPAR Recognized for her abstract impressionist paintings, Hasmik Gaspar is a member of the Artists Union of Armenia and the Art Academy of the Russian Federation. She was graduated from the Music College after Tchaikovsky, Yerevan, Armenia , the State music Conservatory of Riga, Latvia and the Moscow State University of Arts. Using bright palette of colors in contrast, the artist says she always strives to reproduce the places that inspires her. She has often painted old cityscapes which continue to provide new ideas and inspirations for her. She has exhibited in galleries and venues throughout the Russian federation and Armenia. JORA HAYRAPETYAN Jora Hayrapetyan was born in 1946 in Hoktemberyan, Armenia. A famous master who created social realist paintings utilizing a composition crowded with figures; usually artists or clowns that represent the struggling poor class in Armenia. He's also very known for his photo realistic landscapes. Graduated from the State Yerevan Fine Arts and Theater institute, first as a student, then years later as a teacher. Since 2010 he's a professor at the State Academy of Fine Arts, Yerevan, Armenia. Jora Hayrapetyan's works are held in many regional institutions including the State National Art Gallery of Armenia, the Artists Union in Moscow and the Artists Union of Armenia. Since 1983, a member of the USSR Artists union. Since 2006 - Honored Artist of Armenia.

VARDAN GABRIELYAN Born in 1956 in Yerevan, Vardan Gabrielyan is one of the most notable exponents of abstract art in Armenia.According to art critics, Vardan Gabrielyan's artistic vision follows the traditions of early European concrete art in relation to its desire for harmony and order. With thick brushstrokes and broad gestures, the canvases showed themselves as dense, yet luminous, surfaces. Vardan Gabrielyan's most recent pictures are even more free, more open and fluid. He received his education from the Fine Arts College after P. Terlemezyan and later, from the State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan. Vardan Gabrielyan created thousands of pictorial and graphical works. His works have been exhibited in national and international museums and private collections including the “Zimmerli Art Museum” in New Jersey (1991), the Modern Art Museum in Armenia (1992), the Museum of Mkhitarian congregation in Venice (2006), the Yerevan State History Museum in Armenia (2009), Museum of Shushi in Artsakh (2010). He is a member of the Artists' Union of the Republic of Armenia. Since 1985 he took part in over 24 local and international exhibitions in Moscow, Helsinki, Basel, Dubai, New Jersey, Tehran, Florence, Oldenburg and Venice. Selected solo shows for Vardan Gabrielyan include the Artists’ Union of Armenia (2000), National Gallery of Armenia (2001), Ararat Diocese (2004).

VAV HAKOBYAN Vav Hakobyan's colorful expressionistic paintings , investigate dichotomies extant in Armenian societies. With energetic and dynamic brushstrokes he creates a game of contrast. To him Visual Arts and Music are interlinked. His most recent canvases are homage to classic and jazz music and musicians. Born in 1987 in Yerevan, Armenia, Vav Hakobyan graduated from the State Academy of Fine Arts, where he started to teach , becoming one of the youngest faculty members. In 2011 Vav Hakobyan was the RA President's award winner as the best young artist of the year for his "Musicians" series. His solo and group exhibitions include "Studio gallery", Yerevan (2011), Gala Art Gallery, Yerevan (2012), Gala Art Gallery, Yerevan(2013), Museum of Alexander Tamanyan, Yerevan (2010), National Gallery of Armenia (2009).
