About Kenilworth Castle Kenilworth Castle is the largest castle ruin in England. The castle belonged to the Royal Family for hundreds of years. Although the castle is now in ruins, you can still see the red sandstone remains of the Norman keep, John of Gaunt's Great Hall, and the home that Robert Dudley built for the visiting Queen Elizabeth. There is also a beautiful restored Tudor garden and Tudor stables. Kenilworth Castle is in Warwickshire, about 20 miles (32 km) from Nuneaton.
You can still see some of the carvings in the old windows- it's amazing that stone can be carved to look like lace! The castle ruins are fun to explore and have good views across the countryside in Warwickshire.
