According to Buddhism, ignorance is the main cause of suffering and the result of five kinds of pollutions of the mind viz.: attachment, hatred, delusion egocentricity and envy. These are the basic origins of all human problems either of psychosomatic or physiological. In order to overcome the problem, Buddhism adopted systems of mental discipline and various tools and techniques as antidotes- such as meditation, yoga and ritual. In Tibetan system, the medicinal ritual tradition is also very popular and has large collection of texts on the subject.
