Era sábado por la tarde y Margarita tenía muchas ganas de ver a sus amigos Daniel y Carlos. Sus dos papás querían jugar con ella, pero ella se moría de ganas de ir al parque con sus vecinos. El papá Jaime le preguntó : ‹‹ ¿ Qué te pasa Margarita ?, ¿ no quieres jugar con el papá Pedro y conmigo ? ››. Margarita respondió : ‹‹ Sí quiero, pero... ››. ¡ Y entonces sonó el timbre ! Margarita corrió a abrir la puerta. It was Saturday afternoon and Margarita was looking forward to seeing her friends Daniel and Carlos. Her two daddies wanted to play with her, but she was eager to go to the park with her neighbors. Dad Jaime asked her : ‹‹ What’s wrong Margarita ? Don’t you want to play with Daddy Pedro and me? ››. Margarita answered : ‹‹ Yes, I want to, but… ››. And at that moment the doorbell rang ! Margarita ran to open the door.
¡ Allí estaban! ¡Eran Daniel y Carlos ! ‹‹ ¡ Habéis venido a buscarme ! ›› ‹‹ Claro. ›› Respondieron Daniel y Carlos al unísono. Daniel y Carlos eran gemelos, y los dos tenían dos mamás como Margarita tenía dos papás. Eran sus amigos favoritos. Y ellos adoraban a Margarita. Daniel preguntó al papá Jaime : ‹‹ ¿ Puede Margarita venir a jugar con nosotros ? ››. El papá Pedro respondió : ‹‹ Claro que puede, pero no os alejéis mucho y recordad la hora de la cena ››. There they were ! Daniel and Carlos ! ‹‹ You came to pick me up ! ›› ‹‹ Sure. ›› Daniel and Carlos answered at the same time. Daniel and Carlos were twins, and they had two moms like Margarita had two dads. They were her favorite friends. And they adored Margarita. Daniel asked Dad Jaime : ‹‹ Can Margarita come to play with us ? ››. Dad Pedro answered : ‹‹ Of course she can, but do not go far away and do not forget dinner time ››.
Margarita, Daniel y Carlos corrieron al parque. Allí jugaban en los columpios. ¡ Lo estaban pasando en grande !
Garrapata. No se llamaba así, pero Margarita y los gemelos le pusieron ese nombre. Solía estar de mal humor De regreso, pasaron cerca de la casa de la vecina
y los niños tenían miedo de ella. Alrededor de su casa siempre había muchos gatos maullando. Margarita, Daniel and Carlos ran to the park. They were playing on the swings there. They were having a great time ! On the way back home, they passed close to the house of Tick, the neighbor. Tick was not her name, but this was what Margarita and the twins called her. She was all the time in a bad mood and the children were afraid of her. There were always a lot of cats meowing around her house.
Aquel día sucedió algo diferente. En el jardín de Garrapata había un gatito que lloraba. Margarita, Daniel y Carlos pasaban rápidamente, como siempre hacían cuando estaban cerca de aquella casa. Entonces Margarita vio al gatito y se paró. ‹‹ ¿ Habéis visto el gato que está llorando ? ››, preguntó a los gemelos. Daniel y Carlos preferían seguir caminando, ¡ tenían miedo de Garrapata !
On that day something different happened. There was a kitten crying in Tick’s garden. Margarita, Daniel and Carlos went by quickly, as they always did when they were near that house. But Margarita saw the kitten and stopped. ‹‹ Have you seen the kitten crying ? ›› She asked the twins. Daniel and Carlos preferred to walk on. They were afraid of Tick !
Sin embargo Margarita se decidió a entrar en el jardín. El gatito lloraba y ella lo cogió en sus brazos. Parecía estar bien, quizás sólo tenía hambre. Los tres niños se encaminaron a una tienda cercana. Allí compraron leche para el animal. Margarita insistió a los gemelos en volver al jardín de Garrapata y así lo hicieron. Cuando entraron en el jardín para dar de comer al gatito, Garrapata apareció

However, Margarita decided to enter the garden. The kitten was crying and she took it in her arms. It seemed to be alright, perhaps just hungry. The three children headed to a nearby store. There they bought some milk for the kitten. Margarita insisted on returning to Tick’s garden, and so they did. When they entered the garden to feed the kitten, Tick appeared suddenly.
‹‹ ¡ Pero bueno, bueno !, ¿ qué tenemos aquí ? ›› Garrapata sonrió a Margarita y los gemelos. ‹‹ Os he estado observando, y sois unos buenos niños. ›› ‹‹ Y tú ››, dijo mirando a Margarita, ‹‹ ¡ eres muy valiente, con el miedo que todos me tenéis ! Os voy a hacer un regalo por haber dado de comer a mi gato, algo que
nunca olvidaréis ››. ‹‹ Well, well ! What do we have here ? ›› Tick smiled to Margarita and the twins. ‹‹ I have been observing you, and you are good children. ›› ‹‹ And you ››, she said looking at Margarita, ‹‹ you are very brave considering how scared of me you all are ! I am going to give you a gift because you fed my cat, something that you will never forget ››.
