Letter From The
September is here and it is one of my favorite times of the year! The kids are back in school, the weather starts to cool off and football season is upon us! Here in Tampa Bay ... football is king! High school, college and professional football rule the airways and dominates most male conversations. Will the Bucs be competitive? Can the Gators win without Tim Tebow? What will Florida State be like without Bobby Bowden? Are the Canes for real? Can USF win for their new head coach? Wow ... all of these questions start getting answered here in September. Now for you ladies that aren’t into football, the season can be a lot of fun for you as well! It means more shopping time as your man will be planted in front of the television set and that will give you time to head to the mall! It can also mean less time in the kitchen as your husband can be satisfied with pizza, chips and a cold drink. It might not be good for his waistline, but it will make your life easier! NuYou wants to wish all of the Florida teams good luck this football season! We want to make sure all of you know that every month you can find NuYou Magazine on-line at www. NuYouMagazine.com. We are hoping to sell additional internet ads as our website numbers continue to climb higher and higher! Please check our website the first week of every month for a new edition. Speaking of ads .... make sure all of you advertisers know that we will be selling ads for half price the months of October, November and December. That’s right .... one half off our usual list prices. With this very difficult economy, we are trying to do whatever we can to keep our customers happy and what better way than to offer ads at half price? Please give us a call for more information. Have a great month of September and thank you for reading NuYou. Make sure you check us out at www. NuYouMagazine.com!

WHAT TYPE OF LIPOSUCTION IS BEST FOR YOU? Over the years liposuction has received much bad press which is largely misplaced information. Unfortunately many liposuction procedures have been performed with marginal laser technology and performed by physicians who are NOT Board Certified Plastic Surgeons. As a result, the liposuction procedure has not always had the best medical reviews. The following criteria clearly describes the best qualifying approach for a liposuction candidate. First, the Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and their patient should identify the areas of concern: a. Large amounts of Fat Tissue b. Saggy or Loose Skin c. Cellulite Pockets d. Stretch Marks Without a doubt the healthiest way to reduce your fat us to reduce your weight: a. Eat Right b. Frequent Exercise We do not recommend stimulants as a LONGTERM weight loss program. A safe alternative is Surgery but which surgery is best for you? Traditional liposuction with tumescent (injection of a fluid in the tissues) has been shown to be safe and effective. Liposuction has always been designed to be a contouring operation rather than a weight loss operation. When too much fat is removed, excessively loose skin and a lumpy surface may occur making it all rather unsightly. The ideal candidate is someone with a moderate amount of extra fat in the following areas: a. Thighs (inner and outer) b. Hips c. Stomach Other areas and larger amounts typically do best when combined with
ultrasonic liposuction and or the laser as well as skin surface treatments. Over the last 10-15 years emerging techniques have come to the market including: a. Ultrasonic liposuction (sometimes referred as Vaser) b. Power assisted liposuction (PAL) c. Laser Lipolysis (also known as Smart Lipo, MPX, Smooth Lipo and Lipotherme) d. Aqualipo. The biggest threat to your wellbeing and personal beauty is all the current advertising enticing you to have the surgery performed in a doctor’s office under local anesthesia by someone pretending to be a plastic surgeon with the latest technology that does not really work. The marketing is not only good but very effectively misleads the unsuspecting consumer into believing that they are getting the best. Unfortunately the final result is very different. For the most part, an office is not equipped to perform this type of complex surgery for these reasons: a. Unsafe conditions b. Not sterile environment c. Not a Plastic Surgeon d. No formally trained surgical support team e. The doctor does not have Hospital Privileges for the surgery performed – what happens if something goes wrong? The original laser technology (like Smart Lipo) was originally rejected by most plastic surgeons because it was felt to be inadequate with potential complications. Since then the technology has been perfected in the form of Lipotherme and Smooth Lipo. The laser energy more reliably and effectively breaks up fat cells that are either removed naturally by the body or by liposuction. Unfortunately not everyone will remove the fat by
Bart Rademaker, MD. Board Certified Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon Medical Director Rejuva Center for Plastic Surgery, Med Spa and Wellness National Trainer Laser Lipolysis liposuction when it should and may leave major irregularities that are hard to fix. Ultrasonic liposuction and Vaser are non laser techniques to remove excessive fat with varying results and benefits. Most plastic surgeons will use traditional ultrasonic liposuction rather than the Vaser Loose skin: The right type of laser like Lipotherme or Smooth Lipo will effectively tighten the skin as well as melt the fat. Other techniques like traditional liposuction, PAL or AquaLipo do not tighten. Cellulite and stretch marks: Contrary to popular opinion, any type of liposuction does not really improve this. However, the surface laser technology, Endermologie and Radiofrequency devices may offer some improvements and worth trying out. In conclusion: find a real Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, find the right surgical environment, use standard liposuction whenever you can , use laser lipo for the chin, arms, knees and other hard to treat areas. Liposuction is more for body contouring but larger pockets of fat can be addressed too. HEALTHY TIPS! Last year (for the first time ever) wheat bread sales surpassed white bread sales. People spent $2.6-billion on wheat and $2.5-billion on white bread. Devoid of fiber, flax and omega-3s, the allAmerican white bread is taking quite a beating!
Melanoma is increasing in children, particularly teenagers. With kids spending more time outside in the sun (and the increasing popularity of tanning beds) kids are coming down with the disease. Make sure your kids use sunblock with a SPF of 20 or higher!
Over the long term, a low-carb diet works just as well as a low-fat diet at taking off pounds ... and it might also be better for your heart. Studies done at Temple University show that a low-carbohydrate diet boosted good-cholesterol nearly twice as much as those on low fat diets. A low-carb diet might do better at weight loss for the first six months, but in the long run results have been mixed. The key difference was in HDL counts. Survey results from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention say that between 27% and 34% of all people in the USA are obese, with the definition of obese being 30 or more pounds overweight. Obesity raises the risk of heart disease, cancer, type 2 diabetes and other diseases. Obese Americans cost the nation an estimated $147-billion in weight related medical bills in 2008 and that amount is rising every year. The survey stated that obesity rates are higher in blacks (37%) than Hispanics (31%) or whites (25%).
Here’s a nice little trick ... dish out dinner portions at the stove instead of serving yourself at the table. A Cornell University study shows that you will eat twenty percent fewer calories per meal. When food is out of sight, you’re not automatically tempted to refill your plate.
When you enjoy your next apple, make sure you eat the skin as it is jam-packed with an antioxidant called quercetin which protects your lungs from pollutants. A study from St.George’s Hospital Medical School in London, England said that people who eat five or more apples per week have better lung function than those who don’t.
If you eat a lot of pizza (or any high-carb food) here is a helpful solution. When pizza is heated past 250 degrees, it creates harmful chemicals that have actually been linked to an increased risk of cancer and heart disease. Antioxidants in one tablespoon of fresh rosemary added to the pizza dough can slash the chemical by 60%. Numerous studies have shown that sleep is the number one thing a person can do to improve their health. It has virtually zero health drawbacks and gives you energy, bolsters your immune system, boots your memory and stops hypertension. The perfect night’s sleep time is between 7 and 8 hours but if you get by on less (at least 6 hours), that’s ok as some people are just built that way!
Here’s another helpful food tip .... if you just indulged in a salty meal, a few squares of dark chocolate can lower your blood pressure in as little as two hours. Just 2½ ounces of chocolate (made of at least 60% cocoa) can help balance your body.

PAINKILLERS...
THEY DO MORE THAN
KILL PAIN! The state of Florida is at war! The prescription painkiller oxycodone killed more Floridians than ever last year. A report from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement stated that oxycodone was the cause of 1,185 state deaths in 2009 ... a 26 percent increase from 2008 and a whopping 249 percent increase from 2005! The St.Petersburg District (an area that includes Pinellas and Pasco Counties) had the most oxycodone-related deaths with 179, followed by The Fort Lauderdale District (161), The West Palm Beach District (130) and the Tampa District (128). The St.Petersburg District also led the state in methadone deaths with 117 and hydrocodone deaths with 45. The FDLE report comes at a time when attention to prescription drug abuse in Florida is at an alltime high and Tampa Police have

successfully raided Bay area pain clinics who have been handing out pain pills on a daily basis. The State Legislature has recently passed laws aimed at cracking down on the problem, including the creation of a prescription drug monitoring program. The total number of prescription drug deaths totalled 2,488 last year (an average of seven per day) throughout the state. The good news is that heroin deaths decreased 20% to 111 and cocaine deaths decreased by 18.4% to 529. Come on people, prescription drugs are used to heal a physical problem that your body has. They are not made for you to over use in order to feel “good” for a few hours. Don’t be stupid ... only take a pain killer if it is prescribed by your doctor and only take the amount and length that your prescription states. Losing your life isn’t worth the short term high!

LOVE IS IN THE HAIR!
by Debi Cianci
Well we all know it’s very hot and humid these days. Just because the kids are back in school doesn’t mean our weather drastically changes! So if you are going camping or spending a lot of time outside by the pool or at the beach, I have a few of tips for you. First get your hair trimmed or cut. Why?? Because your hair will be in better control with the humidity and heat. When you put your hair “up” it will look better and make it easier to control. Always use extra leave-in-conditioner, like my “Biker Lube”, (designed by Hair Detailers) with sunscreen. Another great product is my “Ape Hangers”, dry shampoo. This is the best product in the world! Not just because its mine …. because it really works! Always make sure you have hats, head bands and protected rubbers band ties for your hair and hair clips. You also can’t forget lots of sunscreen for your hair as well as your skin and lips. Your hair will always lighten up when you are in the sun and near salty air …. sometimes it will get a little brassy looking. If you have blonde hair, use a violet/purple shampoo with a little baking soda. Mix it up in a bowl then apply, let stay in hair for about 5 minutes then rinse and condition. This is a quick fix and should take some of the brassy look out of your hair. Now if you have brown hair you can use a brunette color conditioner or an ash brown mousse, by Roux (at Sally) to tone down that brassy look. This is also a quick fix and not permanent. For a more longterm fix you will need to see your Hair Stylist to recolor and correct your hair. I offer 20% discount to 1st time clients (Debi 727-224-4979).
After Labor Day is when we start thinking about our fall/winter look. I realize it’s always hot in Florida but we do change our hair and clothing. So we usually cut the sun damage off and reshape or restyle our hair. We also tend to tone down our sun blonde look by adding a couple of low lites. NOTE: make sure you have a professional add low lites to your blonde hair not your friend. Why? You could end up with green hair! Color is a science that is why we have a state license and the knowledge. Don’t forget about your skin. Start exfoliation on your entire body from face to toes. Trust me … your skin will feel great. Ape Hangers

I found a great store online called (www. dermstore.com) where all shipping is free. They have a ton of different products from skin care to make up and feature good prices! Another thought as we get into the fall/winter months is that we need to change our perfume scent. You usually go with a little more “woodsy” and a little heavier scent in the fall, but careful not to go heavy on it. Here is a little formula for a great lip shade. First, always use light camouflage on your lips, then use your lip liner to add a little coral color. Then add a darker color and finally your light plumping color gloss. By layering your lip color you will get a beautiful shade. Remember to start using your bronzer a little lighter as less is better with all make up. I hope you enjoy my Style scoops! We all have different skin type and hair colors, but being natural with make up and hair color looks the best on everyone. Keep using your sunscreen and body creams and we’ll talk next month!

HAUTE COUTURE DESIGNER: AUDREY “PAT” MCGHEE BY JAY BURNETT Haute Couture (pronounced OHT-koo-TOOR) clothes are made from highly expressive/creative fabrics. The Tampa Bay area is host to many creative fashion designers, each with their own unique style and sense of creativity; and Audrey “Pat” McGhee is one of them! Pat has always lived a life of high fashion, and with 20 years of experience, she has become one of the Haute Couture ‘grand muses’ of fashion in the Tampa Bay area. Last year she introduced her new line that included several beautiful outfits at Tampa Bay Fashion Week 2009 and was invited to, and participated in, numerous shows, such as: * Annual Battle of the Models/ Designers Competition; Atlanta, GA (Awarded 2nd Place) * NOVA Fashion Week, Presenting “Unpredictable Denim”; Alexandria, VA * The International Hispanic Designer Fashion Show; Tampa, FL * South Florida Fashion Week; Ft. Meyers, FL
Her clients include bridal party participants entering into one of life’s most joyous occasions, women in the midst of life-changing illnesses who require a wardrobe makeover, ladies who are taking their careers to a whole new level, and others who simply desire to re-make their look. Pat views her design skills as a gift from God! She uses her talent to work with women at the peak, or in the valley of their lives figuratively speaking. Over the years, her design skills have constantly grown and evolved; but along with this and participating in numerous shows, she has developed a strong sense of ‘showmanship’. Her “Safari” collection was introduced at Tampa Bay Fashion Week 2009, and has been one of her most successful collections. Despite her success, Pat wanted to go above and beyond, and bring some of the items in her Safari Collection to life. Pat looked over all of the different clothing and material patterns in the Safari line, and was able to visualize various animals from the patterns; and when she

Neva is a unique and creative makeup artist/hair stylist who specializes in a variety of looks, but is best known for her ‘Create on Demand’ ability. She uses a unique combination of traditional makeup and body paint products and techniques to bring Pat’s creations to life. Through their collaboration, they were able to bring the chosen articles to life at Pat’s next show - which was a huge success.
Pat chose the Lion as her Safari line show opener; and indeed, it does get the audience’s attention. With the lion as the eye-catching opener for shows, Pat felt that she needed a closer. Since she has been receiving requests for a children’s
While many are wondering and speculating what the 2011 Spring/Summer Season will bring, Pat is busy working on her new designs; and as always, will be one of the ‘trend setters’ for the 2011 season. What does she have in mind for her 2011 collection? She’s been busy ordering fabrics, designing, and sewing and I guess we’ll just have to wait for Tampa Bay Fashion Week 2010. Whatever she comes up with, I’m sure she will continue ‘Rockin the Runways’! In addition to working feverously on her 2011 collection, she is also busy developing an on-line store which should be operational in October 2011. (www. apmimages.com)

ACCESSORIES MAKE AN OUTFIT Accessories are like icing on the cake. Sure the cake tastes good without it, but icing makes the cake pleasing to the eye and adds just the right amount of sweetness, increasing its appeal. There is different icing for different events, the same holds true for accessories. A plain outfit may get you through the day but without the sparkle added by the right handbag or scarf. Accessories will get you noticed. People will be drawn to you as well. “A jewelry show may consist of rings, bracelets, necklaces, ankle bracelets, earrings, pendants and even toe rings…Who can resist beautiful discounted jewelry with precious and semiprecious gems, cultured stones and crystals all mounted in gold or sterling silver when it is shown by a model with a great smile and flawless skin, who with slight movements, can make the jewelry sparkle.”
Elena
The above quote describes some of the accessories sold on TV during a jewelry show. What are other items considered accessories? Things like hats, sunglasses, scarves, belts, handbags and shoes will spice up any outfit. Don’t be afraid to mix and match metals, styles and number of accessories. Accessories also: ·
Update last year’s outfit, making it exciting ·
Extend the season
·
Set you apart from someone wearing an identical outfit · Add personal style and color to a simple garment · Cover a stain with a scarf or brooch When the little black dress is a part of your wardrobe, at a moment’s notice you are ready for a date, dinner party, wedding or funeral. The same dress can take you to all those places with the right accessories. The same dress can be worn in the summer by itself and in the winter with black stockings or tights

and a blazer or coat. Knowing when to add or take away an accessory becomes easier with practice. Tawanna Larkin, Certified Image Consultant, says; “The sole purpose of accessories are to “add to” not “take away from” the overall appearance of your outfit. I prefer bold accessories with a hint of bling because they make a statement. Adding a sparkly belt to your outfit can transform your look from subtle to sublime!” Skinny jeans and denim shorts are another American staple that we have come to love because of its versatility and ease of wear. You are ready for anything when you team it with T-shirts, jackets, polo shirts, tank tops, tunic length tops. When those items are red, white and blue you have captured one of my favorite styles— nautical!! This clean style is classic, always current and the theme of this month’s photo shoot. Dressy off-white slacks paired with a navy striped jacket, red tank top, red heels and a red handbag is a look that was a part of Audrey Hepburn’s day as much as it is part of our day. Elena is pictured wearing this look which can take her from a day at the office to an evening out on the town. Posed in front of a red Ferrari, well what can I say? The picture speaks for itself. One way to be ready to accessorize any outfit is to be organized so you can see at a glance what you have to work with. During your morning grooming routine and right before an event is not the time to search for the right belt to match your navy blue shoes, which you can’t find, or to locate the red clutch that you know will match your top beautifully. An over the door shoe organizer is perfect for scarves or small belts. Another option is an under the bed organizer because you can store many handbags and keep them dust free. Attractive organizational items are available that add style and function, such as hat boxes, fabric lined baskets and wicker chests. These storage solutions are meant to be seen, so if

closet space is at a premium this may be the right choice for you. Use them on top of dressers, armoires, unused corners or at the foot of the bed. I find a clear baseball card collectors case is a good size for bangles and large beaded necklaces. Experiment with a variety of compartmentalized containers, because the more organized you are, the faster you will be out the door and the better looking your outfit will be by adding the perfect accessory. About our photos by Ross Krison Photography Our nautical inspired theme is the basis for our red, white and blue color scheme. Angela wears tiny navy blue polka dotted shorts with a white short sleeved blazer, the red belt adds a pop of color as do the blue high heel sandals. The red bag complements the outfit. Elena’s outfit is described above. Gianna, our handbag mannequin wears a pleated denim skirt, white tank top and plenty of pearls. Red and white handbags in several sizes gives her many to choose from. Handbags are a girl’s best friend in my opinion (coming 3rd after diamonds and dark chocolate). Olivia, our pashmina model wears a casual outfit and is covered in pashminas! A pashmina can be worn as a cover-up, scarf, wrap or shawl. It can add color and make an otherwise boring outfit upscale while adding function or warmth. According to Wikipedia Pashmina refers to a type of fine cashmere wool and the textiles made from it. The name comes from Pashmineh, Angela made from sajan Persian pashm (“wool”). The wool comes from changthangi or pashmina goat, which is a special breed of goat indigenous to high altitudes of the Himalayas. Modeling At Any Age Copyright 2010 Ro Martinez

IF YOU REALLY WANT THAT BURGER-
HAVE IT AKAUSHI STYLE!

e g r u OF THE MONTH: l p S by Art Koch
So just what is Akaushi Kobe beef? Kobe is a city in southern Japan where four different breeds of Wagyu cattle have been raised for decades. These four include Akaushi (Japanese Red), Kuroushi (Japanese black), Japanese Polled and Japanese Shorthorn. The only other place that Akaushi cattle can be found is Texas with the lineage of each able to be traced over thirty generations. Akaushi is a distinct breed established in 1940. The meat contains intense marbling throughout giving Akaushi beef the highest percentage of monounsaturated fat of any beef in the U.S. As a result the meat has a buttery flavor as well as a scrumptious juiciness and tenderness. The quality of this beef is graded 3 levels above Prime on the USDA graded beef scale. A high ratio of Monounsaturated Fat (MUFA) to Saturated Fat (SFA) has been found to give some health benefits that can include a lower cholesterol level and can also aid in the prevention of Coronary Disease. (To obtain this ratio subtract the MUFA from the SFA. It’s a lot like calculating Net Carbs.) Keep in mind an Akaushi burger is higher in saturated fat than chicken, fish and turkey; however it is slightly lower in calories and total fat than regular ground beef. So, if you really want that burger, go for the best! Currently there is only one place in Tampa Bay that serves Akaushi beef, so we made a stop the other night to check it out. We had the best burger ever! So much

so, that no longer will we get our burgers elsewhere. It’s a new place called Burger Monger, located on the west side of N. Dale Mabry just north of Linebaugh Ave. in Tampa. Only open 4 months, it is a very clean, friendly place with flat screen TV’s, tables, booths and prompt service. There are 3 burgers to choose from, the single is one 6 oz patty, the Double has two 6 oz patties and the Monster has two whopping 8 oz. patties! They offer 18 different condiments and toppings. They have hot dogs made of Akaushi beef along with chicken, salads, beer, wine, soft drinks and delicious hand dipped milk shakes and malts. Our burgers were done to perfection and even with several toppings, we could taste the full Akaushi flavor. We left full, content and pleased with our meal and we will definitely be making this a regular stop. Burger Monger is located at 10412 N. Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa. Ask...CHEF ALFIE chefalfie@tampabay.rr.com
NuYou is proud to introduce you to Chef Alfie who has been a chef in the Tampa Bay area for numerous years. His monthly column will be interesting, informative and full of cooking ideas, shopping tips, food tid-bits and other culinary advice.
Fresh Herbs and Spices “Chef Alfie, What is the difference and how are they used”? Herbs usually come from the leafy part of a plant without woody stems, whereas spices are obtained from the bark, buds, fruit, root, seeds or stem of various plants and trees Let’s start with the most common used: Basil: Known as the “Royal Herb” by ancient Greeks and is a member of the mint family. We commonly use “Sweet Basil” for Italian cooking and in many Mediterranean dishes. It is the main ingredient in Pesto. When picking your basil, choose evenly colored leaves. Store it in the refrigerator wrapped with a damp paper towel and in a plastic bag for up to 4 days. Try sautéing shrimp, fresh tomatoes, escarole, garlic and fresh basil with olive oil then toss with pasta. WOW!!! Who needs a restaurant!!! Oregano: Also a member of the mint family, very pungent flavor and must be used with a little caution. Most commonly used is Mediterranean oregano. May be stored the same as basil. Choose leaves that are bright green, not wilting or yellowing. Commonly used in pizza sauces or any tomato based dish or stews, but I like it most in salad dressings and is great to marinate chicken.
Pepper: This is known as “The Chef’s Spice”. There are three varieties. Black peppercorns are not quite ripe and dried, White peppercorns are fully ripe and not quite as strong, and Green peppercorns are under-ripe berries that are usually preserved in brine. It is a native of India and is the world’s most common spice. Whole or ground, when used properly along with salt, it is one of the most important spices that chefs use. E-mail me at chefalfie@tampabay.rr.com and I will be happy to assist you and your family to find the perfect fit. There are not wrong choices. Remember, I am here to help you with any questions you have about food. If you would like some guidance, on how to start simple and create good meals for your family, e-mail me at chefalfie@tampabay.rr.com If you wish, include your phone number and I will walk you through your questions and get you on the correct path to simple tasty meals. All questions are great questions!!! Creating Cooking Chefin’
Resourcefully, Chef Alfie
Rosemary: Another member of the mint family, its leaves are silver-green and needle shaped. Rosemary is very aromatic and may be used in a variety of recipes. How about……. Leg of lamb or Rack of lamb marinated in balsamic vinegar, rosemary, garlic, onion and just a touch of oil. Cook on the grill, basting as you go…. Where’s my fork!!!! Cinnamon: This spice is very common. It is the inner bark of a tropical evergreen tree. It is used as a topping for desserts, waffles, rice pudding and is great with apples and pears. It is also used in some curries. How about a hot apple cider with a cinnamon stick!!! When the weather gets cold, try a hot chocolate with a cinnamon stick!!! Cloves: This spice is the unopened flower bud of a tropical clove tree. Used in North African cooking and South East Asia. It is used in baking and spice blends. Try this…take maple syrup and mix some ground clove and drizzle over sweet potato or winter squash. Also try adding two-three whole cloves to a stew or split pea soup!!! FEATURE RECIPE By Tracy Allen
• Food & Nutrition
THIS FUN FIESTA CHICKEN WILL HAVE YOU DOING A SALSA This recipe can be done one of two ways, You can simmer it on the stove top (which is what I did), or slow cook it in a crock pot. This dish is really simple, very hardy and tastes great! As you can see, I used all fresh ingredients, with the exception of my can of chicken broth. Using the freshest ingredients for your recipes is so important. Remember, if it comes with a sauce packet, don’t eat it! Pay attention to what you put in your body and how it makes you feel after eating it. If you don’t feel good after you eat, you may be eating the wrong things or too much of it. Your food should refresh and refuel you, not make you feel like you need a nap. A big thanks to Kandi for this idea. I’ll be making this one again!
CHICKEN AND RICE FIESTA Prep time: 20 mins. Cook Time: 1 hour Serves 4 Ingredients 4 Boneless, Skinless, Chicken Breasts 2 Med. To Lg. Ripe Tomatoes 1 Med. Reduce heat and simmer on low for one hour or until the veggies are tender and the chicken is cooked through out. Serve over whole grain, brown rice with a lime wedge. If you are preparing this in a crock pot follow the same directions. Reduce the chicken broth to a 1/4 cup and simmer for 4 hours or longer. The chicken should just fall appart.

BETTER HEALTH SELF HEALTH THROUGH INTERNAL MEDICATION By Rev Col AnneMarie Dyer
While there are many paths to the top of the mountain the path you take depends on where you start. Often the obvious, simple truths are the most evasive but when the light is turned on for us, then of course we really do know the truth, deep inside… To develop ourselves as human beings who are able in and of themselves to impart purpose and direction into their lives. You can allow the outside force that enables all of life to grow and move run your life or you can do it yourself. As in John Lennon‘s song about “ You may say I’m a dreamer” imagine no possessions, no need for greed or hunger and a brotherhood of man, showing the entire world you are living as one. Infinite Spirit is an energy with a formula that enables it to constantly flow and evolves into all things. Now is the time for you to truly focus on yourself. This will assist the rapidly changing human consciousness to awaken all those who have the same ascension agenda as you. Your light and love vibration is always continually encoded into the human energy field around the planet. To be the best person you can possibly be is the ultimate. There will be no world peace until enough people are at peace within themselves. We do this with an open heart and mind through humility and unconditional love. You make a difference every day you focus on yourself. The tragedy of life is not that we die, but
what dies in one while they live. Through healing we reconnect to source and our true selves. We have been given the gift of life and that life supports you in such a way that exits at its center. Nivana is the experience of you unfolded. Lighten up , have fun and to enjoy is what life is about. Seek and find the ultimate happiness. A vision of happiness as a real objective, is something we can all take positive steps towards achieving. Happy people are found to be more loving and forgiving than unhappy people are. They are generally found to be more sociable, flexible and creative and are able to tolerate life’s daily frustrations. Physically fun can be very healing, as illustrated by Dr. Patch Adams of the medical clown fame. It is known to raise your endorphin level. Your body cells will resonate at a higher and lighter vibration, as you become happier, healthier, loving and more joyful. When you have fun and laugh, you relax. This relaxation gives you a greater inflow of ideas, spiritual connections, divine guidance and energy. With the new inspirations and energy you can better manifest your desires. Your relaxed and radiant personality will attract wonderful and helpful people to you. Your positive outlook will create many new opportunities for you. A positive outlook on altering energy in the family will influence children who chose to mirror issues of their parents. This will on many

• Harmony levels alleviate the issues that these children chose to undertake. Having fun unleashes the “real” you from beneath those layers of belief systems and conditioning we inherit from adulthood and authority figures. Allocate yourself some jovial therapy. Do not worry what other people think of you making a fool of yourself in public or that others will judge you, as whatever others think is not your problem. Doing it for the fun of it surprise yourself. Being tied to the real world responsibilities suppressing your creativity and definitely that inner child. You are your own promised land, you own new frontier. This is so health creating you may become addicted. With all that is going on in the world now, it seems to be the perfect time for all of us to reflect on whom we are and where we wish to go. It is imperative that we treat others as we would like to be treated, because what we out give out will come back tenfold. Remember that you are the most important person in your world and that every time you over-ride yourself, you are fooling no one but yourself. A recent trip to Australia afforded me the many opportunities for glances into life’s esoteric facets. It bestowed a peacefullness that enveloped the core of my being. The peacefulness of being a bush walker in the rainforests and several national forests mellowed and smoothed out some of my rough edges giving me an altered feeling and expansive outlook on life. Because of this tranquil solitude, the stillness of the mountain nights allowed a view into infinity. I was fortunate to recognize and enjoy the epiphany of this mystical experience and a bonding with the grand cosmic life force. The quietness away from city life, the bonding with nature, listening to the soft sound of the wind darting across the

pacific, and the smell of the wind itself cleansed by a midday rain (the scent of the eucalyptus trees) in turn changed my internal focus. Learn how weather affects our health and moods. The sun, moon, planets, magnet planet fields and how they influence us physically and psychologically. Then of course diet and nutrition and learning a way of eating that is best for your spirit and health. Your personal life style, home environment, climate and natural preferences can empower your life and of course, your ability to find your inner, healthy self. We all know that vitamins and minerals are vital for health, but so are many other factors (most of which are rare in modern foods). Vitamins, minerals and metabolic support systems, supplement your inner self. As we get older our
bodies change and require additional “recharging”. The potential for stress is everywhere and stress is estimated to be responsible for 90% of all visits to doctors. Manage your response to challenging situations by breathing deeply into your abdomen, journalizing and communicating with your inner force, your inner spirit, the ultimate “medication”. Horoscopes
VIRGO - Aug. 23-Sept. 22 You’re in master-planner mode for the first half of September, keep a watchful eye on yourself. Old habits will die hard. When it comes to food and exercise, moderation will be hard at times. Deprivation gives you a false sense of control, but it also leads to the other extreme. You end up swinging between austerity and reactive bingeing. Throw away your scale and other self-punishing standards.
CAPRICORN - Dec. 22-Jan. 19 Head outside for some late summer activity. The Virgo Sun warms up your outdoorsy ninth house. You’ll find a long hike or a kayaking trip a lot more inspiring than lifting free weights at the gym. If you’re the athletic type, jump into a team or intramural sport.Fun and interaction help you go the extra mile. You’ll benefit from regular structure, even a boot-camp style workout if you’re up for the challenge.
LIBRA - Sept. 23-Oct. 23 Give your health a radical overhaul for the rest of this year. Try new foods, workouts, and methods of prevention. Open your mind to progressive methods and modalities. (Yoga retreat or silent meditation, anyone?) Interested in local growers, sustainable farming, or joining a food co-op? September 18th is a day that could be a wakeup call for better health. Get involved in healthcare reform or organize a community wellness day. Be cautious about prescriptions and pharmaceuticals.
AQUARIUS - Jan. 20-Feb. 18 Life is really jamming, but are you taking care of number-one? Pluto, ruler of the psyche and the unconscious, has been retrograde since April, giving you a low-grade sense of fatigue or psychic baggage. Things have just felt a bit harder, lonelier, or more emotional, and you might have craved more privacy than your social sign normally does. Reconnect with your spiritual power through yoga, meditation, or any way you prefer to practice a faith.
SCORPIO - Oct. 24-Nov. 21 You’ve got energy to spare, but you also need to pace yourself. You could easily throw too many irons in the fire. Saturn is in your spiritual twelfth house, a period of disciplined healing and tuning in to your inner voice. The September 23rd Aries full moon illuminates your health and fitness sector. Pay special attention to the mindbody connection now. You could be sick or drained from negative thoughts, or from overextending yourself.
PISCES - Feb.19-Mar. 20 This month, your emotional health depends on teamwork, but also drawing boundaries where needed. It’s hard for your sign to discern where you begin and others end, so if you’ve “lost yourself” in a relationship or a group, you’ll find your voice again. Don’t go along to get along— it’s important that you trust your instincts. Just watch for ego clashes if you assert yourself near the September 23rd full moon. Someone who’s subtly pushing you around won’t like the shift in power. Oh well!
SAGITTARIUS - Nov. 22-Dec. 21 Make ample time for inner work this month. On September 9th, Jupiter slides into Pisces, your fourth house of family, home, and self-care. It’s time to revolutionize the way you run your life—which, if it’s been on adrenaline, caffeine, and a prayer— could use a much healthier cocktail. An exciting new chapter of your personal life could begin, one that brings expansion but also demands radical change.
ARIES - Mar. 21 – Apr. 19 The Sun is in Virgo, your healthy sixth house. Start your fall fitness plans right away, or, at least, as soon as you polish off that last serving of Labor Day potato salad and jumbo hot dogs. The September 8th Virgo new moon swoops in like a Celebrity Fit Club trainer to help. Hiring a personal trainer isn’t such a bad idea, you can work out your quads AND learn how to take orders.
TAURUS - Apr. 20-May 20 The first half of September is far from disciplined, and temptation will abound. You’ve got every excuse in the book for eating that fifth cookie or slacking on a halfhearted health regimen. Grab a workout buddy or quit smoking with a friend. Join an online community to support your wellness efforts , especially one that offers tools and apps to track your progress. On September 22nd, the Sun enters Libra, your health and fitness sector, making it much easier to get into the groove. GEMINI - May 21-June 21 Family and home matters occupy your attention this month. You’re in need of feminine and “mother” energy, so prioritize selfcare. Which comforts do you crave? Whether it’s a weekly massage, home-cooked food, or a feng shui bedroom makeover, these tankfilling pleasures are emotional necessities, not frivolous luxuries—at least, right now. At the Virgo new moon September 8th, you could move, change your home décor, or even expand the family. CANCER - June 22-July 22 Need some motivation? Use the buddy system, pairing up will double your fitness results. You need lots of intellectual stimulation. Your mind is a sponge, so learn while you burn. Get involved in neighborhood events and spark up your social life—interacting with people is good for your mental health. The September 8th Virgo new moon could bring a new friendship or an inspiring community project. LEO - July 23-Aug. 22 Although you’ve got the energy of twelve high-kicking aerobics instructors—even before your morning coffee— the last five months haven’t been your healthiest. It’s not that you’re out of shape; you’ve just had to deal with health beyond your body, on the spiritual, emotional and energetic planes. Pluto has been retrograde in Capricorn, you well-being house, since April. Your mind-body connection intensified, but you weren’t able to address everything at once.
