Hello New York District Key Club!
Happy New Year! I hope everyone is having a great winter. Can you believe there’s only a little over two months left in the service year? Time is absolutely flying. As the service year starts to wind down, I want to take a moment to remind you all how proud I am of you. We have accomplished so much! From successful fundraisers for Kamp Kiwanis to food drives for local food cupboards, your efforts do not go unnoticed. Thank you all for your dedication to serving others. But before our year is over, we all have to meet at the 72nd Annual Leadership Training Conference! Are you planning on attending? I sure hope you are. It’s such an incredible weekend that you and your club will love! Whether it’s Playfair, workshops, our keynote speaker, or district elections, there’s
10
something for everyone. Oh, and we can’t forget about the Governor’s Ball or the hundreds of awards we give out through the weekend! This year, we’re asking for all clubs to bring donations to a drive for the local homeless shelter. We will have boxes set up to collect everything. If you are unsure of what to bring, please refer to the confirmation packet that will be on the LTC section of the NYDKC website. Upcoming, the board and I will be meeting again very soon. I am very excited to plan and meet with them as I haven’t seen them since November! We’ll be going through LTC things, as well as making sure everyone is set for a smooth transition into the new service year in April. Lastly, keep up the incredible work. I absolutely love seeing all of the amazing events that clubs host. Whether I read it in a newsletter or see it on social media, they always brighten my day. I am forever thankful for all of you and your dedication to this organization. The world really does need more Key Clubbers.
Yours in service, Camille Brock 2019-20 District Governor

Hiya New York District Key Clubbers!
Happy new year! I hope everyone accomplishes all their new year resolutions this year! One of my resolutions is to stress less often. Speaking of goals, the New York District has performed 73,780 service hours out of our goal of 200,000 service hours. We are 61.5% the way to achieving our goals! Remember to continue to host service events and encourage all members to attend for us to reach our goal as a district. In order to do so, please fill out the Monthly Report Form before each month’s deadline. Monthly Report Forms are extremely important for us to keep track of the amount of service hours. I have 60% of all the Election Report Forms. If you haven’t sent it in, please remember to submit it as soon as possible. With the new year comes the end of the ‘19-’20 service year. Take this chance to run for a higher position, whether it be in your club, district or internationally. If you have any questions about running, feel free to reach out to your lieutenant governor and the district board! We would be happy to answer any questions you may have. This also means the Leadership Training Conference is coming up soon! Please review the awards booklet and apply for at least one
award. As for paperwork, be sure to hand in your Monthly Report Forms to automatically be entered to receive the Perfect Paperwork Award!

Hello NYDKC!
We are at the last quarter of our service year, and I am so honored to have served amongst you guys in such a great service year. We have raised $88,610 of our $200,000 fundraising goal. Only with a combined effort from our district would we be able to meet our fundraising goal. Please also make sure you submit all the Fundraising Report Forms! We currently have over 8,000 dues-paying members in the New York District. I am so proud to say that we are on track to being one of the largest districts in Key Club international. We have 168/254 clubs that submitted dues for this service year. If you have yet to submit club dues, please do so as soon as possible. I recently sent out an email to all the club treasurers. It contains information you may need for the rest of the service year. It also includes information about the Distinguished/Outstanding Treasurer award, which is something I hope all treasurers apply for. With the last three months of the service year ahead of us, I hope all clubs can host at least one fundraiser. Whether it’s selling hot cocoa,
11
a movie fundraiser, or an ice skating fundraiser, I know you’ll be able to do it. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I’m here to be a resource to you and would be more than happy to help. Catch you at LTC!

Hey NYDKC!
I hope everyone had a great winter break! Now with school back in session, our service year has only three months left. I am still in disbelief about how fast the time passed. Now it is almost time for LTC already! Last year’s LTC had been so much fun, and this year’s is going to be on another level with you all. In November and December, I had the pleasure of participating in fundraisers. I am so proud of the clubs that organized these successful events — keep up the great work! For the remainder of our service year, please continue to facilitate more volunteering and fundraising events for our members. I have so much faith that we can reach our service goals with your fantastic work! And I can’t wait to attend and meet more Key Clubbers in those events in the future. With the service year ending soon, unfortunately, it is time for clubs and divisions to hold elections to elect new officers for the next service year. Now is the time to express your interest in running for any club, division, or higher office. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with anything!

Hello NYDKC,
Ramisa Azad, your 2019-2020 webmaster here! Our service year is almost over and I am honored to have served alongside you guys. Our district board executives and committees have been achieved a lot and have been working really hard to prepare for the next big event: LTC! Key Club Week and Fall Rally were huge successes and the biggest event of the service year is approaching soon in March! If you didn't have the chance to participate in Fall Rally, LTC will be a great opportunity to build leadership skills and enjoy an amazing weekend with your fellow members—we’ll have great speakers and activities for you all to enjoy! I have worked to put together an informative website for LTC where you guys can find information regarding applying for awards, running elections, the cost of attending, and answers to all other questions regarding the event. Check the NYDKC website regularly for updates. LTC registration is already open and talk to your president and advisor immediately if you want to participate in this Roaring 20s-themed exciting event! I’m always open to hear feedback on the website. If you have any suggestions, don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I’m excited to meet all of you soon!

Welcome to the Roarin' 20s!
I hope everyone’s 2020 is off to a great start! As this new decade unfolds, we at Key Club International have been reflecting and working on the Key Club International Strategic Plan for the coming years, and we encourage you to also reflect and plan. What were the highlights of the past years? What do you want to achieve? From small goals (like packing your backpacks the night before) to bigger ones (like getting into your dream school) the possibilities are endless . . . There's never been a better time than now to focus on YOU. There's never been a better time to start on your journey towards success, and work towards improvement. This year, one of my new year’s resolutions has been to stick to all my resolutions . . . wish me luck, Charlie! Anywho, with the 2019-2020 term nearing its curtain call, I want to welcome all the LTG and club officer-elects and wish you all the best of luck. To those retiring, thank you for the impact you have left on your communities and on Key Club. This has been an amazing year for NYDKC and I can't wait to see the district prosper in the years to come. On a lighter note, a new year also means it’s LTC time. I'm so excited to meet you all this March! When you see me, be sure to say hello. I want to get to know as many of you as possible! Now, until then, . . . Let’s go change the world.
Service IS forever,

Hey Key Clubbers! Happy New Year! I hope you all had a great start to the new decade and are all excited for this year’s Leadership Training Conference. As always, we value and recognize clubs that have gone above and beyond. The Awards Booklet is now out and the online portal is up and running! We encourage everyone to apply for awards! We hope to see you at LTC, up on stage receiving your awards!
The K-Family and Key Club International Relations committee has opened up our completed work to every Key Clubber, our work is featured on nydkc.org and can be used for anyone looking for more information on the Kiwanis family. Our final and biggest project is our Kiwanis family map: this map will show the counterparts of each respective Kiwanis and Circle K counterparts from a given area.

We are also working on a chartering guide as well, to be done by the end of the month. Our largest task has been working on updating the Membership Retention Tracker so that we can track how clubs and divisions have retained and lost members over the years and we are hoping to have this done very soon as well. For now, we have put the letter we are planning to send to inactive and suspended clubs on the back burner but we will revisit this soon! When we do, we will come up with a letter that will help to get these clubs get rechartered. Our committee is looking forward to making progress over the course of the next few months!

The Endorsed Projects Committee has been tracking fundraising progress for each district project.
The Events Engagement Committee has shifted our focus from Fall Rallies for the end of the service year. We have done internal work of polling Lt. Governors and recording the responses to make planning next year’s Fall Rallies an even smoother experience and hopefully provide an even better event. Besides that, we have started planning a possible event that would unite the whole NY district—stay tuned to see what it is!
We're falling short of our fundraising goals. If you have any Fundraising Report Forms (FRFs) to fill out, please do so as soon as possible. I hope every club can host a fundraiser by the end of the service year, and that we'll hit our fundraising goals.

Hannibal High School Key Club held its 20th annual Community Halloween Event on October 25th! Their Student Council and Key Club worked together and organized this spooky event. The planning alone took over 3 months and lots of helpful volunteers. This event is broken up into many parts such as Trick or Treating throughout the school, Games and a Haunted House in the gym, arts and crafts and spooky reading rooms spread throughout the classrooms. This event alone attracts over 500 people from the small town of Hannibal and provides every single kid a chance to have a safe and happy Halloween experience. We are proud of this event and how it has continued to thrive and get better!

The Salvation Bell Ringing event was on December 7th, 2019. This event took place at North Shore Farms, in Mineola. New Hyde Park Key Club, and Mineola Key Club have both joined together and both contributed to helping the Salvation Army! Throughout the day, Key Clubbers sang Christmas carols and rang bells. There were a lot of Key Clubbers from both schools contribute to help support the cause. Our club was assigned to keep everything organized. We were in charge of setup and breakdown, crowd control, sweatshirt distribution, and merchandise.

Every year, North Shore Key Club hosts a community blood drive at the high school. This service year, it took place on November 25th. It was very successful: we were able to save 120 lives through the donors who participated. Pictured are two student donors giving the gift of life through their donations. From left to right are Giuliana Graziosi & Christina Pais, both juniors at North Shore.
This was a great opportunity for me as a Lieutenant Governor since I was able to see the club officers that I don’t get to see on a regular basis and caught up on how their clubs are doing. It was also great to connect with Kiwanians who I don’t always get to see.
This event was absolutely amazing for everyone was involved. It truly epitomized what the holiday season is really about.

This fundraiser was my first time playing pool, and it was a great experience. The people there were really nice. I loved how they handed out snacks and refreshments, as many of us did not bring our lunch. I also met people from QHSS, which was a lot of fun. Thanks for this amazing event! It was great to have fun while supporting a good cause: Special Olympics NY. I'd definitely go to more fundraisers to support others in need.

As a first-year Key Clubber, I didn’t know what to expect for the Safe Halloween Night held at Riverhead High School. I was able to hang out with friends and provide a safe environment for kids, putting up bats, spider webs, and Jack-O-Lanterns. We had over 600 children attend the extremely fun night we planned for them with games, trick-or-treating, face painting, a spooky walk and prizes. They were scared, but excited to be there! This event has been put on by Riverhead High School for many years and has only continued to grow, and we’re excited for what’s in store next year.

Seton Catholic Central Wraps Gifts
On December 11, students from Seton Catholic Central helped wrap Christmas presents to be delivered from an inmate to their children. Students were provided with sheets that had the name, age, gender, and interests of each child to base their gift off of. They chose the gifts for each child out of a ton of donated books and stuffed animals and used the rooms provided to wrap and write a little message wishing the child a very Merry Christmas from their parent to let the child know their parent has not forgotten them this Christmas!

Town of Webb's Movie Event
On December 21st, a few Key Clubbers went to our local theater to help a sponsored movie by Kiwanis. The kids that came to watch the movie also got to meet Santa and pick a toy and a book to take home. All of the goodies were donated to Kiwanis. The kids also got to take home a coloring book that featured scenes from the Adirondack kids books! After the awesome stuff was passed out and everyone met with Santa, we all watched the animated film Arctic Dogs. As Key Clubbers we interacted with the kids and helped them pick out their new things, we also cleaned the theater to make sure it was on top shape for the rest of their day—a fun little Christmas event that happens every year!

Our club was a part of the East River Thanksgiving food drive hosted at a Stop and Shop in Long Island City. We had a large box among us and handed flyers at the entrance. The turnout with volunteers was amazing: around 10 from our school and 3-4 from other schools came, including Circle K students. On the way out many people donated supplies. We made a cycle to put the overflowing supplies from our box to our table where we had 3 adult supervisors to also answer questions and make sure everything ran smoothly. All in all, the event turned out great!
