Youth Opportunities Fund! The Youth Opportunities Funds (YOF) is an endowed fund for Key Club International held within the Kiwanis International Foundation. The fund uses earned interest to help Key Clubs and Key Club members serve the world by providing grants for service opportunities. The fund also provides academic scholarships for higher education. The Youth Opportunities Fund is established through a portion of your Key Club International dues and through the purchase of G. Harold Martin Fellowships. YOF grants can help you take action. Look around and identify the things that need to get done in your school, community or world.

I NEED IDEAS! Start with your local community, and search around for signs of problems that you might be able to fix. Are the local elementary schools not receiving enough funding? Do the hospitals lack a tutoring program for housed patients? Is there a lack of awareness surrounding the animal shelters? Is there a need for a recycling program? Go and ask community leaders what they’ve been working on. Read the newspaper everyday, talk to adults, and see if there’s a pressing issue. Attend town meetings, get involved with local organizations, and speak to people! You’ll never know what you can find!

Past projects:  Key to Literacy: Purchased books for elementary school [2010]  Washington Community Garden: Organized and built an organic gar-

den [2010]  Bringing Art and Children Together: Bought art supplies for an arts

and crafts fair for local community children [2010]
