Letter from the Chair

Spring is in the air, and with it comes a renewed sense of energy and innovation in the world of cosmetic science. As we embrace this season of growth, I am excited to share the latest updates and initiatives of the NYSCC, all centered around our 2025 theme: “The Nexus of Science and Beauty ”

The year is already in full swing, and our engaging programs and collaborations continue to flourish. Last month’s Innovation with Purpose was another sold-out event The energetic crowd gained valuable insights from industry pioneers who transfor med emerging trends into groundbreaking products They shared key market strategies and talked about how to create impactful, lasting solutions in the beauty and personal care space.

As we look ahead, the momentum is building towards Suppliers’ Day 2025, which promises to be our most dynamic and immersive event yet We are excited to meet with many of our partners in Amsterdam on April 10th, at our annual Press and Friends Breakfast to share updates on the event as well as strengthen our collaborations that make Suppliers’ Day such a success

Visit our website at www.nyscc.org/suppliers-day to see all the educational programming that will be offered during this week of beauty in June and discover how science and beauty are evolving together to meet consumer needs and industry challenges. Make plans as well to attend the NYSCC Industry Awards Night on the first night of Suppliers’ Day, June 3rd, where innovation will be in full throttle Taking place at the spectacular Classic Car Club, near the Jacob K Javits Convention Center, this evening will also include the announcement of the highly anticipated CEW Beauty Awards – Ingredient/For mulations category finalists

In recognition of Earth Day, we will offer a Comprehensive Approach to Sustainability program where experts from all areas of product development will share their innovative approaches to building a greener future This program on April 16th at the Brooklake Country Club in Florham Park, New Jersey, will also feature a cult brand’s perspective on sustainability

I encourage all members to stay engaged, take advantage of the NYSCC’s diverse programming, attend Suppliers’ Day, and contribute to the ongoing dialogue that shapes our field. Your participation and passion drive our success

Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming events!

It signals that the product has undergone the full HypoSense protocol and has been proven to be hypoallergenic according to rigorous scientific and ethical standards This includes not only stricter for mulation screening but also more detailed test procedures and the use of test cohorts that reflect realworld sensitive skin profiles. Products must achieve excellent results across all criteria to be eligible.

The holistic view of the products and the test group, which corresponds exactly to the end users for whom the products are manufactured, are the central elements of the test design that are missing in HRIPT tests, which are essential for the evaluation of the results and product safety

Importantly, the awarding of these seals is not based on individual expert judgment alone Both are embedded in a for mal certification process with fixed and transparent criteria A product must fulfill every requirement in the test protocol to receive certification This structured and reproducible approach ensures that the seal is more than just a marketing tool it is a verified scientific statement.

Looking to the future, the combination of sensitive skin expertise, ethical test design, and structured certification provides a compelling roadmap for future product development from advising manufacturers prior to product development through to testing of finished products with the focus on the safety of the products from a der matological point of view
