That means doing our part in pulling down the road blocks and giving NYC’s Black-owned businesses the tools and resources they need to take hold of the opportunities before them now and the power to grow and thrive into tomorrow. I applaud the Mayor and SBS for utilizing public-private partnerships to drive BE NYC’s mission in fostering a black business community that has more access to the resources required to thrive,” said Congressman Gregory W. Meeks. “The COVID-19 public health emergency has exacerbated existing racial economic disparities in our city and throughout the country,” said Senator Leroy Comrie. “Black entrepreneurs in SD14 and throughout the city want to be heard and they want access to the capital and resources that historically have not been afforded to them. Why

Vote? Because Your LIFE & HAPPINESS M ay D e p e n d On It

Why vote when you are just one person among millions? You're about to learn 13 good reasons. But here's the most basic answer: If you care about your future and want the best things for your friends, your family, other people, and the environment, you should vote in every election. Most U.S. citizens who are 18 or over have the right to be part of the political decision-making process that impacts all of us. Why would you ignore that enormous privilege? Our right to vote is fundamental to our way of life. It's why many Americans believe that not voting equals not caring. Simply put, it is our responsibility to vote because our freedom to pursue happiness depends on having a functional, representative democracy. The system only works if we participate in it. When it comes to the well-being of college students and young people, voting is especially important. Your inaction can have long-lasting ramifications that are hard to overcome when you're older. That's

why what happens on election day 2020 (November 3) is highly significant. All we really have is the present moment. Yes, every election matters. But no election matters more than the current one. It will always be that way. So if you're an eligible American citizen, here's why you should vote:  Your vote is your voice (and you deserve to be heard)  A lot more is at stake than just who becomes president  Students and young people have the power to change everything  Higher education is becoming out of reach for too many Americans  Health care is still a major problem that your votes can help

solve  Climate change threatens everybody's future (including yours)  You owe it to America's heroes (past and present)  You'll be seen as a doer, not a complainer  Other people are depending on you to do the right thing  It's your duty to help prevent fascism and tyranny  You're lucky you even have the right to vote  Elections can have severe consequences that last for decades  You probably don't have a good excuse not to vote

Learn how and where to register to vote right now!

Be a C it i zen W e Can All Be P ro u d O f ! For the health of our democracy and your own well-being, we need you to vote; 2020 and 2022 are only the beginning. Stay informed, hold your elected officials accountable, and vote in as many future elections as you're physically and mentally able to. And don't forget about the power of education. The more you know (and the more you're able to do), the better off you, your community, and our nation will be. America is strongest when people like you have the skills to take advantage of the opportunities that are available to them.

ENTER TAINMENT Anthony Anderson Receives HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME STAR Howard University student, Anthony Anderson attended his Walk of Fame ceremony on Friday—one day before his 50th birthday—alongside his family and friends, sharing on Instagram that “Dreams do come true.” “Today was a GREAT day! Dreams do come true! Those dreams are made possible thru faith, hard work, patience and sacrifice! I want to thank everyone that’s been a part of my journey thus far.” Anthony said in his Instagram post. In 2018, Anthony announced on Jimmy Fallon that he’s on the road to graduating from Howard University alongside his son, Nathan Anderson, in 2022. “I was paying for college myself, and I ran out of money after my Junior year,” Anderson says of his decision to drop out of college during his younger years. Anthony Anderson’s story is definitely one that exhibits delay without denial as he has been working to find a way to finish his final year of undergraduate studies. Alongside the message, the Los

Angeles native shared a series of photos from the ceremony, including images of him posing with the star. In another photo, Anderson’s family is seen celebrating in true pandemic fashion—wearing custom masks adorned with Anderson’s smile and beard. “I was looking forward to the pomp and circumstance that surrounds anyone getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, because not just anyone can or will get that,” Anderson told Variety in an interview published on Friday. He also told the outlet he had hoped to celebrate big with his family and friends but “unfortunately that type of event can’t happen because of what’s happening in the world right now.” Still, Anderson said the honor is a testament to how hard he has worked throughout his career. “It’s surreal in a way to see where I’ve come from, the work that I put into this and that I still put into this, and then it all culminating in and having that work paid off with a star on that same Hollywood Walk of Fame,” he said. “You couldn’t write a story better than that."

Complete your favorite stretches, taking deep breaths. Be sure to stretch arms and legs. Food In addition to this one workout, food also plays a key role. Two things to consider are (1) Counting Calories and (2) Drinking Water Count Calories It may sound like a no-brainer, but counting calories is one of the easiest and most effective ways to start losing weight fast. Weight loss occurs when you use more calories than you take in, either by reducing your intake or increasing your physical activity. Keeping track of your calorie intake can increase your awareness of what you’re putting on your plate, giving you the knowledge you need to make healthier choices. If you don’t like writing everything down like me, try tracking your calorie intake by using an app or an online food journal. Drink More Water By simply adding more water to your daily routine, you are setting your body up for success. Research shows that water may enhance weight loss by bumping up metabolism, temporarily increasing the calories your body burns after eating. If you’re a juice, soda or flavored drink kind of person, start off slow by adding half water to those drinks for the first two weeks and then even more water for the next two. The next thing you know you’ll be drinking way more water than you ever thought. For best results, drink at least 34–68 fluid ounces (1–2 liters) of water per day to maximize weight loss.

A new study found that one hour of even the simplest of physical activities with the lowest levels of rigor can alleviate your risk of developing illnesses such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The study showed that people who sat for eight hours or more each day and had little to no active movements were 59% more likely to die. All of that from sitting in a chair?
