‘TIS THE SEASON FOR PEACE AND JOY !

DECEMBER IS NATIONAL STRESS-FREE FAMILY HOLIDAYS MONTH! The holidays are a time for celebration, unity, and love, but let’s be honest — they can also bring a fair share of stress. Between busy schedules, financial pressures, navigating complex family dynamics, and trying to keep up with the demands of the season, even the most prepared can end up feeling overwhelmed. National StressFree Family Holidays month is a reminder to step back, slow down, and focus on what truly matters.

Here are a few tips to help keep the holiday joyful and stress-free:

1. FOCUS ON WHAT MATTERS MOST :  Choose activities and gatherings that bring you and your loved ones the most joy.

2. STICK TO A PLAN AND A BUDGET : Financial strain is one of the biggest sources of stress for many families during the holidays. Be sure to set a budget

for gifts, travel, and events, and avoid last-minute spending whenever possible. Thoughtful gifts don’t have to break the bank; consider creative and meaningful gift ideas that show you care without overspending.

3. ASK FOR HELP AND DELEGATE : Often, one or two people in the family take on most of the holiday responsibilities, but the holidays are a perfect time to share the load. Whether it’s cooking a dish, wrapping gifts or decorating, let your spouse, siblings, cousins or friends collaborate or take charge.  This lightens the burdens and creates shared memories.

4. FIND JOY IN THE LITTLE THINGS : Lean into small, meaningful moments that make the holidays memorable, like lighting candles for Kwanzaa, playing with family, or dancing to holiday classics.

Remember, the holidays aren’t about how

perfect your table looks or how big the gifts are—they’re about spending quality time with the people who matter most. The

ASSOCIATION OF AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUMS NAMES NEW CEO

Vedet Coleman-Robinson, Ph.D., has been named president and CEO of the Association of African American Museums (AAAM). Coleman-Robinson was appointed executive director in March 2019. AAAM’s board of directors recognizes ColemanRobinson’s vast impact on the nonprofit organization.

Under her leadership, AAAM has surpassed its fundraising goals, raising more than $6.5 million; introduced new programs; and seen a surge of more than 250% in membership, with the most popular categories being two-year individual and institutional memberships. She encourages members to carry AAAM’s commitment to servant leadership to their institutions, empowering people in their communities and providing them with more enriching narratives of African and African American history.

“Vedet Coleman-Robinson’s dynamic leadership and innovative approach have been instrumental in enhancing the Association of African American Museums’ reach and impact,” said Omar Eaton-Martínez, AAAM’s board president. “Her ability to create strategic alliances and appeal to emerging professionals will continue to propel AAAM forward and bolster the organization’s ability to serve as the principal voice for the African American museum movement.”

As AAAM’s executive director, Coleman-Robinson has supported cultural organizations, historical societies and museums that collect, preserve and exhibit objects valuable to art, history and science involving African and African American communities. In 2020, ColemanRobinson helped AAAM’s members simultaneously navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and heightened social injustice and unrest that followed the murder of George Floyd. Under her leadership, webinars, online workshops and a virtual conference allowed members to collaborate, share experiences and discover best practices for serving as advocates in their communities. In 2021, AAAM implored its members to contact their senators in support of the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act to address the use of deadly force and racial profiling.

The following year, AAAM announced a partnership with Howard University School of Business to train the next generation of Black museum leaders. Participants enjoy courses in conscientious leadership, strategic thinking and community relations, fundraising and more. Eighty-five percent of the program’s graduates have been appointed to leadership roles, advancing AAAM’s aim to ensure its members have requisite knowledge and experience to do their work. John Fleming, Ph.D., former AAAM board president, praised the program in

an address during AAAM’s annual conference.

“When Vedet told me about the program at Howard, it gave me, really, goosebumps because for the first time we have a place that we can go for leadership training and it is a place where we will be welcomed. I think if you look back over the history of the Association, I think this is going to be the most outstanding accomplishment,” he said during the 2022 convening.

During Coleman-Robinson’s five years as executive director, AAAM has established a cooperative agreement with the National Park Service’s Park History Programs African American Civil Rights Network to bolster the network’s visibility and regrant more than $2 million to network members. Funding from the Mellon Foundation allows for AAAM working groups that help identify and address issues specific to Black museums based on findings from a 2017 needs assessment. A 2021 grant from Lilly Endowment, Inc. supported the expansion of AAAM’s national operations to support institutions across the field.

“The Board is pleased with the remarkable journey and positioning of the Association of African American Museums since Vedet ColemanRobinson took the helm. She has positioned AAAM as a resilient, forward-thinking organization and set the benchmark for leadership in the field writ large,” said Eaton-Martínez “Her ability to cater to baby boomers, millennials and Generation Z ensures that professionals from their 20s to their 80s will benefit from all that AAAM has to offer, thus positively impacting the communities they serve.”

Coleman-Robinson’s relationship with AAAM dates to 2005. She was introduced to the organization by trusted mentors who were passionate about African American history and joined while working toward her master’s degree in U.S. history. She credits her internship at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture as a pivotal experience that opened the door to AAAM and its dynamic network of museum professionals. In 2018, Coleman-Robinson became a life member. Before accepting the executive leadership role, she assisted in facilitating national stakeholder meetings with African American professional organizations for Lord Cultural Resources and the National Museum of African American History and Culture. She also served on AAAM’s membership committee.

“The Association of African American Museums is a testament to the power of a collective voice. It is an honor to collaborate with institutions across the country and abroad to ensure everyone has access to rich, accurate

and inclusive narratives about African and African American history, art and culture,” said Coleman-Robinson “Expanding membership reflects a growing interest in the Association of African American Museums and reinforces our mission’s importance. As AAAM’s president and CEO, I will continue to advocate for resources and opportunities that help cultural institutions celebrate African and African American heritage and culture while allowing Black people to see themselves in art and learn about their history.”

Coleman-Robinson has devoted her career to elevating voices that have been historically underrepresented in American history. She came to AAAM from the National Park Service (NPS), where she served as a grants management specialist within the State, Tribal, Local, Plans & Grants Division (STLPG). During her 11 years with NPS, Coleman-Robinson was the program lead for the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Grant (HBCU) and the Underrepresented Community Grant programs for STLPG. She also assisted in the NPS acquisition of the African American Civil War Monument and served in leadership roles within the National Park Service’s employee resource groups to raise the visibility of employees and sites that are underrepresented within the National Park Service

“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the current AAAM board, past board members, and especially to our past presidents, Brian Carter and LaNesha DeBardelaben, as well as our current president, Omar Eaton-Martínez. Their unwavering dedication and significant contributions

have been instrumental in laying a strong foundation for the continued advancement of AAAM’s mission,” said Coleman-Robinson

Coleman-Robinson earned doctorate and master’s degrees in U.S. history from Howard University, where she minored in public history with a concentration in African American history and culture. She is also a contributing author to the newly released “Hip-Hop @ 50: Howard University Public History Program,” a book that explores hip-hop’s impact from 1973 to the present. She holds a bachelor’s degree in U.S. History from Virginia State University and is a member of Delta Sigma

Located in Washington, D.C., the Association of African American Museums (AAAM) is a non-profit member organization established to support African and African Americanfocused museums nationally and internationally and the professionals who protect, preserve and interpret African and African American art, history and culture.

Established as the single representative and principal voice of the African American museum movement, the Association seeks to strengthen and advocate for institutions and individuals’ interests committed to preserving Africanderived cultures. AAAM’s services enhance those museums’ ability to serve the needs and interests of persons of African ancestry and those who wish to know more about the art, history and culture of African-derived cultures. Is it Alzheimer’s? Or just signs of aging? Get screened and find out.

If you have trouble remembering, learning new things, concentrating or making decisions that affect everyday life, the sooner you can find out what’s going on, the better.

Early screening of your cognitive health allows for earlier detection and diagnosis of potential Alzheimer’s disease or other types of dementia. Early diagnosis means more time to plan for the future, express your preferences for care, adapt your home environment and seek support. We can help you learn about available resources.

Early diagnosis also provides opportunities to try new treatments. For those who are experiencing possible early cognitive decline, we offer the opportunity to participate in ongoing research studies/clinical trials that may help slow the progression of Alzheimer’s symptoms. Our Center of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease — one of 10 centers in New York State — is funded in part by a grant from the New York State Department of Health.

With over 20 years of experience, Williams has positively impacted thousands of San Franciscans through her work as a public health advocate, nonprofit leader, and community organizer. Her extensive background includes mentoring youth caught in cycles of incarceration, playing a pivotal role in saving City College from near closure, and tirelessly working to enhance the quality of life for all San Franciscans.

“I am proud to continue supporting Rafiki Coalition’s work under the leadership of newly appointed Executive Director, Shanell Williams,” said San Francisco Supervisor Shamann Walton, District 10. “Strong advocates are essential in breaking down the barriers to health. today, and into the future, and how to make Rafiki part of the solution. I look forward to partnering with her and Rafiki in the years ahead. Our community is fortunate to have her leadership.”

AARP APPOINTS NEW CEO

AARP, the nation's largest nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to empowering Americans 50 and older to choose how they live as they age, announced today that Dr. Myechia Minter-Jordan will serve as its next CEO.

“Dr. Minter-Jordan joins us with the necessary attributes to successfully guide AARP on the next leg of our journey to help people live better as they age,” said Lloyd Johnson, chair of AARP’s Board of Directors. “She is an accomplished physician and innovative business leader who brings to AARP a strong passion for our social mission, demonstrated ability to balance strategic decisions with financial discipline, build strong teams, foster collaboration and lead organizations through rapid change and growth. We’re thrilled to have her leading the fight for what matters most to older Americans during this time of increasing social and technological change.”

Minter-Jordan has devoted her career to helping improve the health and wellness of individuals and communities, as a practicing physician, public health advocate and business leader. She joins AARP after serving as president and CEO of CareQuest Institute for Oral Health and CEO and chief medical officer of The Dimock Center in Massachusetts, one of the nation’s largest community health centers. Minter-Jordan’s efforts have been nationally recognized as models for advancing innovation and providing comprehensive, integrated health and human services care. She earned an M.D. from Brown University School of Medicine and an MBA from the Johns Hopkins University Carey School of Business.

“This is a pivotal moment for AARP and the nation. For more than 65 years, AARP has been instrumental in improving the lives of older Americans helping people age on their own terms and live their lives to the fullest,” Minter-Jordan said. “As AARP looks ahead,

we have exciting opportunities to empower, uplift and make a positive impact on the health, wealth and wellness of the more than 110 million Americans ages 50 and older and the entire country.”

With offices in every state and members in every congressional district in the country, AARP strengthens communities and advocates for what matters most to the more than 110 million Americans 50-plus and their families: health security, financial stability, and personal fulfillment. AARP works to successfully protect Social Security, Medicare, drive efforts to support family caregiving, lower prescription drug costs, create age-inclusive communities, tackle social isolation and shift public narratives on aging.

 By 2030, 1 in 5 Americans will be over 65.

 Older voters are routinely — by the numbers — the most powerful voting bloc.

 On November 5, voters 50-plus turned out in high numbers.

 Older swing voters cited personal economic security as the top issue affecting their vote.

 Protecting Social Security, tackling inflation and essential costs were key drivers.

 More than two-thirds wanted candidates to lower prescription drug prices.

 One-third of older swing voters selfidentified as family caregivers.

 As people live longer and healthier lives, they contribute to their communities and fuel economic growth well past the traditional retirement age.

 Spending by people 50-plus amounted to $8.3 trillion in 2018 — 56 cents of every dollar spent.

 This is projected to grow to $28.2 trillion by 2050, or 61 cents of every dollar.

 44 percent of all jobs are held or created by people over age 50, representing 88.6 million jobs.

 This is projected to grow to 101.7

million jobs by 2050.

 The wages and salaries generated by people 50-plus were $5.7 trillion in 2018 and are projected to grow to $19.2 trillion by 2050.

Minter-Jordan’s depth of experience in improving lives and well-being aligns with AARP’s mission as a transformational force for aging in America. Prior to Dimock, Minter-Jordan was an attending physician and instructor of medicine at Johns Hopkins Medicine. She has served on many boards, including Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Blue Shield of California, and was appointed a member of the Massachusetts Health Planning Council Advisory Committee and the City of Boston Public Health Commission. In 2020, she also cofounded The New Commonwealth Racial Equity and Social Justice Fund (NCF) to support community groups and

coalitions fighting health inequities in Massachusetts.

AARP is the nation's largest nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to empowering Americans 50 and older to choose how they live as they age. With a nationwide presence, AARP strengthens communities and advocates for what matters most to the more than 110 million Americans 50-plus and their families: health security, financial stability and personal fulfillment. AARP also works for individuals in the marketplace by sparking new solutions and allowing carefully chosen, high-quality products and services to carry the AARP name. VENTURE CAPITAL FUND LAUNCHED TO EMPOWER ENTREPRENEURS

FUZE FUND is thrilled to announce the launch of Fuze VentureGrowth Fund l, LP, a $30 million Reg-D 506(c) fund designed to bridge the equity gap in venture capital. Recently approved by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the fund aims to raise and deploy capital to support minority, women, and veteran founders. Now in its subscription phase, Fuze Fund is inviting accredited investors to become part of this journey— not just by providing capital, but by contributing to an ecosystem that nurtures founders with resources, mentorship, and the strategic support they need for long-term success.

"At Fuze Fund, we're driven by the belief that innovation knows no boundaries. Yet, we've seen far too many talented founders from underrepresented communities being sidelined due to a lack of access to funding," says Dr. T.J. Breeden, Managing Partner of Fuze Fund "Our goal is simple: to ignite potential. We're not just backing startups—we're investing in people, in communities, and in the next generation of gamechanging ideas."

Dr. Breeden's inspiration for launching Fuze Fund was deeply rooted in his experience leading Emerging Entrepreneurs, Inc., a non-profit dedicated to providing startup training to untapped communities, particularly veterans and minority populations. "While leading Emerging Entrepreneurs, Inc., I saw firsthand how difficult it was for underrepresented founders to access the funding and support they needed to succeed," Dr. Breeden explains. "It became clear to me that the Venture Capital space was not fully supporting these communities."

This realization grew into a larger vision during Dr. Breeden's MBA studies at Syracuse University, where a group capstone project merged with research from the university's Institute for Veterans and Military Families. "The conceptof launching a fund that focused on empowering veteran, minority, and women-lai projects took shape during my time at Syracuse," he continues. "Though a few years passed and I went on to complete my doctoral studies

at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, the hope of one day launching a fund never left me. Less than 4 months after defending my dissertation, in the fall of 2021 and in the midst of the pandemic, Fuze Fund and its flagship venture fund were formed."

The statistics are telling: in 2022, minority founders received only 1.1% of venture capital funding, despite their growing presence in the startup ecosystem. Investment declined to less than 1% in 2023. Fuze Fund is committed to changing this by channeling institutional capital into promising early-stage ventures across industries like technology, education, and financial services. But Fuze Fund's commitment goes beyond just financial investment; it provides founders with a strong network of partnerships, including institutions, non-profits, and industry leaders—all working together to fuel sustainable growth. "We understand that capital alone doesn't drive success—it's about the support and resources that surround it," Dr. Breeden continues. "That's why we're building an ecosystem that connects founders with the right people and tools, helping them navigate the challenges of growth and scale with confidence."

While the firms flagship fund, FUZE Venture Growth Fund l, will focus on ventures led by diverse leadership teams with innovative business models, particularly in areas like EdTech, Al & Robotics, Consumer Packaged Goods, Fintech, and Digital Services, Fuze Fund is also exploring adjacent industries that leverage technology to drive innovation and create transformative change.

"WE'RE BUILDING MORE THAN JUST A FUND. WE'RE BUILDING A COMMUNITY THAT ENSURES TALENTED, UNDERREPRESENTED FOUNDERS HAVE A REAL SHOT AT SUCCESS."
- Dr. T.J. Breeden , Founder & Managing Partner

In addition to its venture capital initiatives, Fuze Fund offers a robust range of management consulting services tailored to the needs of institutions, startup communities, and founders. From fund structuring and compliance to capital raising and ecosystem development, the Fuze Fund consulting team provides handson expertise to guide emerging ventures. These services ensure that founders and institutions have a clear path to success in an increasingly competitive market. "We're eager to connect with firms, institutions, and agencies who believe in the power of collective investment, knowledge sharing, and strategic collaboration," says Breeden "Impact isn't restricted to wiring funds. Rather, creating real, lasting impact is a holistic endeavor that requires a range of inputs, from raising capital to building connections to leveraging data and insights to make more informed business decisions."

Dr. TJ. Breeden is a nationally recognized entrepreneur and advocate for transitioning service members, underserved founders, and youth. Honored by President Obama as a 'Champion of Change' as part of the former administration's "Winning the Future" initiative, TJ. has been celebrated for his leadership in advancing economic opportunities for minority and veteran founders. He was also named the "Veterans Entrepreneurship Advocate of the Year" by the US. Small Business Administration, received BlackEnterprise Magazine's "Modern Man of Distinction" award, and Radio Ones "Cathy Hughes Business Community Service" award. T.J. also serves in a Director's role at a leading philanthropy-serving organization whose mission is to advance equitable philanthropic investment in Black communities.

Recently, Dr. Breeden was accepted into the U.S. Department of States Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs' (ECA) "U.S. Speaker Program," where he will be extended the opportunity to support U.S. embassies and consulates around the world to engage with leaders, officials, and subject matter experts on topics of strategic importance to the U.S., including but not limited to social entrepreneurship and the power

of equitable venture investment in diverse founders. Lastly, he is also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., ForbesBLK (a global community of Black entrepreneurs and leaders driving systematic change in business, culture, and society), and BLCK VC, a network committed to equipping Black investors with the resources needed to push for greater inclusivity in the venture capital industry.

THE FUND IS NOW ACCEPTING SUBSCRIPTION INQUIRIES: Fuze Venture Growth Fund I is currently in its subscription phase, and while capital deployment will begin once the fund is fully subscribed, accredited investors are welcome to engage. Entrepreneurs and investors alike are invited to join the Fuze Fund network and contribute to an initiative that's driving diversity and innovation within the venture capital landscape. "We're building more than just a fund. We're building a community that ensures talented, underrepresented founders have a real shot at success. This fund is about changing the status quo, and we invite like-minded investors and entrepreneurs to join us on this transformative journey!"

Fuze Fund is a venture management platform dedicated to empowering underrepresented founders by providing capital, strategic guidance, and resources. For more information, visit www. fuze.fund
