QUALITY SPREADERS POPULAR NATIONWIDE MUCK SPREADERS ARE PROVING a popular addition to the effluent management solutions available to dairy farmers, especially those seeking to use all the nutrients from the farm system back on their grazing land. K-Two muck spreaders from familyowned Matamata Ag have been operating in NZ for almost 20 years from Southland to Northland. Their smart design with extra strength in key areas and low overall weight have been integral reasons for their success. The K-Two Duo and Evo models are rear twin-beater discharge spreaders that provide simple yet accurate spreading with low on-going costs. K-Two have long been respected for their impressive build quality, but they are

also stacked with many other features. NEW OWNERS FOR ENVIROLINE JASON AND ROZ HARRISON ARE putting their knowledge and past experience in farming to great use as the new owners of Enviroline, renowned for supplying quality linings for a variety of ponds including effluent and decorative. “We wanted our own business as we have a young family. The decision to take over at Enviroline came earlier than expected earlier this year,” says Jason. They took ownership on July 1 and look forward to building ongoing relationships. The couple have both been around farms their whole lives. Roz was born on a dairy farm before moving to beef and sheep operations and also worked on horse studs. “I am Te Awamutu born and bred. My father is a vet and we understand the needs of the farming community. I have predominantly worked in the agriculture/ veterinarian industry and have spent the most part of the last 20 years dealing with dairy farmers,” Jason says. Most of Enviroline’s business is in providing the HPE linings for dairy effluent ponds. “We are getting into the commercial sector including stormwater ponds for subdivisions and catchment ponds for industrial sites. We also line decorative

ponds for lifestyle block holders, and farmers,” Jason says. Getting involved early in a farm effluent system design is always better. “We are happy to get involved at any stage of a project and help design the pond as well through our contacts. Farmers need to account for the soil type, number of cows, and the annual rainfall for a pond to be built correctly.” Ponds need to be constructed with the right material and lined the correct way. You need leak protection and there are a number of technical issues to consider. “It’s not like the old days where you just dug a hole and put a pipe in,” Jason says. There is three layers to the lining and it is important to understand what the end product will look like. Getting everyone involved in the construction of a pond as early as possible can substantially reduce potential delays. “It is good to have everyone such as the earth works guys around the table from day one to discuss the process. That is better than discovering you can’t line a pond because of this issue or that issue.” “I believe we have a high quality product. There is always a cheap option but cheap is rarely the best. backing of the supplier, can provide a 20-year liner warranty and an eight-year workmanship guarantee.” Being a small business means Jason is on site for each job where he can deal with issues immediately. “If you are looking for quality workmanship, superior liners, successful effluent containment at realistic prices call the team at Enviroline NZ to discuss how we can help you.” 29
