MAYOR’S MESSAGE
There are many ways Oak Bay can help you fill the shorter days and cooler evenings of the Autumn season.
Enjoy the Oak Bay Artists’ Fall Studio Tour, an opportunity to view and purchase visual art from both established and emerging artists and often see the creative process within their home studios. This is a wonderful way to discover new artists, support our local arts community, and bump into old friends along the way.
In the evenings, Music Nights at Sports View Lounge return – these are musical gems where incredible artists play in an intimate and acoustically clear atmosphere. Book early – they are almost always sold out.
Now that the lakes are cooling down and the pool upgrades are complete, we welcome everyone back to swim in Oak Bay. We appreciate your patience during the necessary summer closure to install the upgrades and improvements that help ensure the quality, longevity, and efficiency of the recreation centre.
If you’re not sure what your next passion, hobby, or challenge is, I invite you to try out a wide variety of drop-in sessions available at the Oak Bay Recreation Centre, Henderson Recreation Centre, or Monterey Recreation Centre. These include Aquafit, pool swims, fitness sessions, indoor pickleball, arts classes, and so much more.
Of course, something that makes Oak Bay so amazing are the many outdoor spaces. Oak Bay maintains playing fields, natural parks, beaches, walkways, and more, including public art installations throughout the community. Be sure to enjoy these many beautiful spaces within our neighbourhoods.
Kevin Murdoch, Mayor, District of Oak Bay

MOVE STRONG: RESTORING STRENGTH & MOBILITY
19 YRS+
This is not your typical style of strength and stretch class. It is designed to ‘up-regulate’ the muscles that are less used and ‘down-regulate’ the ones that are overactive. It was once believed that fitness classes should require activating more muscles, but studies show it has become more relevant to learn how to let muscles release their constant tension and act like muscles should: turn on when needed and turn off when not. Floor work is part of this class.

What you should know about Camps:
Leadership: Camp leaders are selected for their experience, abilities and dedication to provide every camper with a safe, fun summer camp experience.
A Safe Place for Children: Campers are fully supervised throughout the day. Camp leaders are trained in First Aid and CPR, have completed a criminal record check and received camp specific training. Parents/guardians are required to sign campers in and out of camp each day and provide current medical and emergency information for their camper.
Camp Schedules: For most camps, you will be emailed a schedule including parent information the Wednesday before the camp begins. Schedules will indicate items your camper should bring to camp each day. Please note: schedules are subject to change.
The First Day of Camp: Please be prepared to stay a few minutes on the first day of camp to complete sign-in, meet your camper’s leaders and complete any outstanding paperwork.
Poor Weather: Camps run rain or shine unless you are notified otherwise. Except for outdoor tennis camps where families will be notified.
Epi-pens and Severe Allergies: If your child carries an Epi-pen, an Emergency Medical Information Form must be completed before the first day of camp. Forms are available at reception and on the website. Please refrain from sending “products with nuts” to camp.
