F
ourth of July in Seattle is a well-known boating friendly holiday in the city. Hundreds of boats stake out a spot early and anchor around Lake Union to watch the fireworks take off from Gasworks park. The aftermath of this great event is what most people don’t see – firework debris, bottles, cans, plastic, and more are all left floating on Lake Union the morning of July 5th. This is where the Puget Soundkeeper Alliance comes in. The Puget Soundkeeper Alliance 4
has a simple mission: “to protect and preserve the waters of Puget Sound.” They achieve this mission through a combination of monitoring and enforcement, policy and civic engagement, and stewardship and education. The Puget Soundkeeper Alliance organizes a yearly “Seattle Summer Sweep Fireworks Clean Up” where volunteers take kayaks, paddleboards, and small boats to do their part to clean up beautiful Lake Union. This year Alexander Marine employees took part in the volunteer work, using the 29’
Our Backyard Regal OBX as our clean up vessel of choice. Staff cruised around the lake in the morning of July 5th with large nets, and even larger garbage bags that by the afternoon were full to the brim. Special attention was given to the area around the shores of South Lake Union and extracting even the garbage from the lake oor. Alexander Marine is always looking for ways to give back to our community and we believe that every little bit counts. anta Catalina Island, an island southwest of Los Angeles is known for being the boating mecca of Southern California. With its rich history, diverse wildlife and resort town feel, Catalina is a must-stop on your next cruise. Avalon is currently the only incorporated city on the Island, housing about 90 percent of the island’s population. he Summer Soirée in Roche Harbor is a yearly tradition we truly love to host. The event happens in the later part of August each year at our “Summer Office” in Roche Harbor. Each summer Alexander Marine is lucky to moor a few of our best inventory boats at the marina for the summer months for guests and visitors to tour and learn more about Alexander Marine and the great brands we carry. At the end of the season each year we host a Summer Soirée for marina staff and all guests to show our gratitude for the

hospitality of the marina and resort staff and a final season get together for the boaters at the marina. It is a great way to catch up with owners as they make their cruise back down south and end up where it all began just months prior. A common cruising plan we have heard is for owners to start their cruising with the Alexander Marine Rendezvous in June and end it with the Summer Soiree in August – two great events in one of the best venues imaginable- Roche Harbor. The Summer Soirée is also an excellent time to hear all about the cruising adventures of the summer and plan for the year ahead. The 2017 event was hosted on our trade boat, an 85’ Ocean Alexander, which could not be a better setting to entertain. The large flybridge boasts a wet bar with 5 bar stools, ample informal dining space and seating, and a sunpad great for relaxing. The aft deck seems to be the alternative area popular for gathering with an additional wet bar, drop down TV, and seating for all your friends around a long rectangular table. We had such a fun evening with everyone who attended the event and we hope to see everyone at any of our 2018 events!

e had a busy summer here at Alexander Marine, starting with the Bremerton Trawlerfest, Tiara Yachts Northwest Rendezvous, Get Out and Boats Fest, Kirkland Uncorked Boat Show, Summer Sales EventsEvery Friday, Roche Harbor Summer Soiree, and finally what a better way to end the season with the Seattle Boats Afloat Show Sept. 14th-17th. Thankfully the weather in Seattle held out for another beautiful weekend to enjoy some of the breath-taking vessels we have. Seattle Boats Afloat show was held in the picturesque South Lake Union, with

sea-planes taking off and landing in the distance, it really was an event to not be missed. Prior to the start of the show, a VIP event was hosted by the NYBA. Alexander Marine chose to host a cocktail hour on our beautiful 2014 85’ Ocean Alexander. It was a night of great music, food, drinks, and of course great conversations that only happen during those idyllic warm summer nights on the water. Followed by beautiful days of sunshine where we were able to showcase our beautiful line- up, which included our 2012 90’Ocean Alexander, 2018 53’ Tiara Flybridge, 2018 44 Tiara Coupe, 2017 42’ Regal Fly, 2017 29’ Regal OBX - just to

The West Coast's Largest Boat Show - the Seattle Boat Show, Indoors + Aoat - kicks off January 26 and runs through February 3, 2018. The Seattle Boat Show features ~1,000 boats for every budget designed to meet every recreational need featured at CenturyLink Field, plus world class yachts, trawlers and more at Bell Harbor and South Lake Union. The show, the largest on the West Coast, features a free shuttle service between the three venues.
Rendezvous NORTHWEST
P
oulsbo, Washington, also known as “Little Norway” is a quaint, picturesque town located on the peninsula. Poulsbo offers a wide variety of activity options and attractions from shopping and exploring to sightseeing and historical sites. The perfect setting for the first Tiara Yachts Northwest Rendezvous hosted by Alexander Marine. The rendezvous weekend took place in early July accompanied by perfect weather and a great group of Tiara owners.

The weekend started off with a boat bop (open house style event, where all boats were open for viewing) and welcome happy hour aboard the brand new Tiara 53’ Flybridge as guests received their welcome bags and were introduced to other owners. A very competitive app-off took place during happy hour where guests brought their unique appetizers and everyone voted for their favorite. A barbecue dinner followed, which was full of boating stories and lots of laughter. During the day, guests took time to visit the farmers market and the art walk, both happening just a short
walk from the marina, in the downtown area. Sunday began with a well-rounded breakfast at the marina and a seminar from Sue Kane, Business Development Manager at Tiara Yachts. Sue spoke about the exciting new models in the works from Tiara Yachts and the new division, Tiara Sport, which includes the outboard 38 LS. Following the seminar, sea trials were offered to interested parties on the Tiara 53’ Flybridge. The ďŹ rst annual Tiara Yachts Northwest Rendezvous hosted by Alexander Marine was a huge success. We had such a great weekend getting to know the group of Tiara owners in attendance and exploring the wonderful town of Poulsbo. We cannot wait for the 2018 event to be even bigger and even better! SPINACH SALAD 1 lb Baby Spinach, washed 6 Slices of Bacon, crumbled 1 Red Apple (choose your favorite), cored & diced 1/4 cup Almonds or Pecans, toasted 1/3 cup blue cheese, crumbled 3 Green Onions, sliced Dressing: 3 Tbsp Red Wine Vinegar 1 Tsp granulated sugar ½ Tsp Dry Mustard ¼ Cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil Salt and Pepper, to taste Combine all ingredients in a container with a tight fitting lid. Shake until emulsified.
1. Place washed spinach in a large serving bowl and prepare dressing, set aside.
2. Cook the bacon in a skillet until crispy and drain on a paper towel. Leave 1 tablespoon of bacon drippings in the pan and add the almonds or pecans. Toast them until they are light brown in color and remove from pan.
3. Add bacon, almonds/pecans, green onions, blue cheese and diced apple to the salad bowl.
4. Add a light coating of dressing to the salad and toss gently. Serve and Enjoy!

he second annual Southern California Boat Show was hosted at the Cabrillo Way Marina in San Pedro, California the end of September. The venue has proven to be an ideal location for Southern California boaters to convene - close enough for Los Angeles residents and just a short drive from those who call the beach cities home. For the second year in a row Alexander Marine had the largest display with nine boats available. The brand new Ocean Alexander 85 Motoryacht was a crowd favorite
with lines of people just to get a glance on board. The Regal and Pursuit inventory models were well showcased with the Regal 42 Flybridge (making it’s Southern California debut) in particular receiving an abundance of enthusiasm. The weekend was ďŹ lled with great weather, enthusiastic boaters, and an unrivaled offering of great products. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the next Southern California Boat Shows: the Los Angeles Boat Show in Pomona and the San Diego Sunroad Boat Show, both coming this January.

he first annual Andrew’s Bay Raft Up was, to sum it up: a blast! There is truly nothing better than a day on the water with perfect weather, good drinks, great food, music, and entertaining company. The Andrew’s Bay Raft Up just happen to have this perfect equation. Andrew‘s Bay is a popular anchorage spot located near Seward Park on Lake Washington. It is one of the few areas on Lake Washington permitted for anchorage. The location is a perfect place to enjoy an afternoon with fellow boaters. It is easy to take advantage of nearby Seward Park by 38
cruising your dinghy ashore. Alexander Marine took the brand new 39’ Tiara and 35’ Regal Sport Coupe to start the raft up and brought our favorite drinks, some great appetizers, and even some giant floats for daytime water activities. Both boats drew much attention in the bay, especially from two current Regal owners, who brought their dinghy over, fell in love with the 35’ Sport Coupe and weeks later were eventually able to call it their own. any have described this start to the Fall Season as an “Indian Summer- is a period of unseasonably warm, dry weather that sometimes occurs in autumn…”, It has to be said it is perfect for autumn nights on the water to enjoy the last bits of sunshine and warmth while you can. Friday, October 13th was just another example of the “Indian Summer”, the day was perfectly warm and sunny leading into a heavenly night showcasing Alexander Marine’s new Regal 42’ Flybridge at the delectable Cannery Seafood of the Pacific restaurant in Newport Beach, CA.

The Cannery offers a picturesque setting you might only imagine right on the water in front of the restaurant were four beautiful vessels we are currently being offered by Alexander Marine all lit with under water lighting and the twinkling lights off the patio. The night included tasty drinks and delicious tray passed hors d’oeuvres followed by a buffet of marvelously scrumptious cuisine. The evening was quite the hit with locals, patrons of The Cannery, friends, family, and of course co-workers who stopped by to enjoy happy hour while dreaming about their future boat. In 2009, Brian Schneider was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. After undergoing eight rounds of chemo and 17 sessions of radiation, he was told he was in remission on April 13, 2010. He wanted to give back, so together with family and friends they formed “Hodgkin’s Haters,” a Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Light the Night team for the local Santa Clarita fundraising walk. Then in 2016, Brian and Sandra Schneider founded In Care Of Hope, a 501(c)(3) organization, and they chose the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) as their charity of choice, which means LLS
receives nearly 80 cents of every dollar donated. The support raised goes directly for blood cancer research and patient services. When we were approached by Marina, our Sales Administrator in Newport Beach (also Brian’s daughter), asking if we would like to be a part of their cause, we did not hesitate one bit! In Care Of Hope hosted the Hodgkin’s Haters’ 3rd Annual ParTeeForeACure Golf Tournament at TPC Valencia Golf Club on October 9th. Although it was an extremely windy day, golfers comprised of local contractors, business owners, and contractor vendors came out in full force to enjoy a day of golf, on-course contests, raffles, and laughs, all the while chipping away at a cure. Alexander Marine USA sponsored the 9th hole and sent two of our own to represent, Marina & Erika! With the help and support of many local volunteers, friends, family and cohorts each year, the ParTeeForeACure Golf Tournament becomes more and more successful. We are happy to announce that they raised $17,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at the golf tournament alone! This brings the total raised by the Hodgkin’s Haters since 2011 to more than $100,000 for LLS. In Care Of Hope will be hosting the 4th Annual Hodgkin’s Haters ParTeeForeACure in September of 2018. Known as the “yacht capital of the world”, Fort Lauderdale is home to one of the largest and most prestigious boat shows in the world. Each year, people travel to Fort Lauderdale from all over the world to attend the annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, and this year was no exception. Although companies always bring their best products, it was Ocean Alexander that stood out among the rest with their impressive fleet of luxury yachts. For the first time ever, the full-line of Ocean Alexander yachts were put on display. Eager customers were thrilled to have the entire line of Ocean Alexander yachts available for tours. The yachts on display included the American made 70e, the stunning 85 and the 90. Additionally, two versions of the 100, one with five staterooms and an on-deck master, were featured along with the brand new 112 and the 120 tri-deck mega yacht. With so many yachts to choose from, the positive response from customers was staggering.

As the weekend came to a close, the boat show ended in celebration with the christening of the brand new Ocean Alexander 112, SugarRay. The excited new owners broke the ceremonial bottle of champagne and raised a glass to toast the momentous occasion. It truly was the perfect way for Ocean Alexander to end the successful 58th annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
