Can you present yourself, and your Ocean link.

My name is Rebekka and I grew up by the sea, on an island called Jeløy. I have always loved spending time by the ocean, and I especially love the colors.

Tell us more about "Passion for Ocean" I am a work psychologist and worked within creative industries for 12 years before I, in 2015, started the movement Passion for Ocean.

Passion for Ocean started as folkfest in Oslo in 2016. We just wanted to gather as many people as possible to see if it could work to make a fest celebrating the ocean.

In 2019, Passion for Ocean was arranged in Bergen and Trondheim in addition to Oslo, where 10.000 people visited in just one day.

"PASSION FOR OCEAN WILL ADAPT AND COME OUT IN A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT WRAPPING" Any news about the 2022 festival season?

We have tried to keep the movement alive during corona, but it has been hard. Thus, in 2022 we try to re-establish the festivals and get back up on our feet. However, many things has changed and I think Passion for Ocean will adapt and come out in a slightly different wrapping. No more to be said :)

How do you make the festivals more sustainable?

We reproduce everything and use old materials in every way. All material is human friendly, even though it is the topic itself that is the most important.

There are many, but Cousteau is high up on the list :) Can you share a great Ocean memory.

When I learned how to kitesurf, I remember very well the first time I actually managed to be in charge. On top of the waves, with this fantastic fresh smell and salt air, flying away, an amazing feeling.

Favorite Ocean destination My summerhouse or the horizon!

"I WOULD LIKE TO LEARN HOW TO FREEDIVE, AND EASILY GO HUNTING IN THE SEA" Is there an Ocean skill you would like to learn?

I’m actually not a free diver, in contradictory to almost everyone around me. I would like to learn how to, and easily go hunting in the sea.

It begins life as a free-swimming larva. When the time comes to settle, the larva “glues” its head to a hard surface such as a wharf piling, ship, rock or hard-shelled animal using its first antennae, which has cement glands.

“THEY CROSS FERTILIZE WITH THEIR CLOSEST NEIGHBORS" Acorn barnacles are hermaphrodites. Each individual has both female and male reproductive organs. Then, they cross fertilize with their closest neighbors.

"Acorn barnacles might look like jagged little rocks at low tide, but they have a surprisingly wild sex life".
