Letter from the President and Group Managing Director
new in 2018
Dear Friends, It is remarkable to think that Ocean House made its debut here on the scenic Atlantic Coast 150 years ago. I am proud to report that our tradition of excellence continues along with our commitment to be fresh and innovative. Our team is focused on providing our guests with the highest level of service and the latest conveniences. We do this whether you are here at Ocean House for a week-long meeting, a weekend getaway or simply enjoying a delicious Sunday brunch. I am excited about what’s to come. After the recent multimillion-dollar refresh of the guest rooms and the introduction of COAST by Jennifer Backman, we are well positioned to serve you—guests of all ages—in all seasons. In addition to enjoying our new and creative experiences at Ocean House, we hope you can take part in our many seasonal traditions. Enjoy a romantic Valentine’s dinner, attend the annual
Black & White Ball, or welcome spring by enjoying many of our magical events leading up to Easter and Passover. You can learn new skills at a cooking and wine class in the Center for Wine & Culinary Arts, or expand your knowledge with our Artist in Residence series. We hope Ocean House can continue to be a memorable part of your past and something to which you can look forward in the future. We are delighted to introduce the newest addition to the Ocean House Management Collection: Blantyre, a member of Relais & Châteaux and a Forbes Five-Star hotel, situated in the beautiful Berkshires of western Massachusetts.
Here’s to a great year ahead!
A Tudor-style estate built in 1902 amid 110 acres of lush lawns and woodlands, Blantyre is reminiscent of a gentler time of elegance and romance. The property will reopen in April after a multimillion-dollar renovation of the guestrooms, grounds and public spaces designed to keep the treasured elegance that Blantyre is known for. A relaxing retreat featuring an award-winning cuisine, wine list and spa, it truly is a getaway for all seasons in an area known for summer music and theater festivals, splendid fall leaves and winter fun.

New Cottages: Wickiup & El Reposo
SEASON BY THE SEA
Perfect for families, extended families, or those desiring a bit more space than a traditional guest room, cottages afford the spaciousness, convenience and privacy of a personal residence but with the luxury amenities of a five-star resort. Renting cottages, which range from cozy two-bedroom bungalows to sprawling eight-bedroom homes, is a treasured tradition for many Watch Hill visitors.
Ocean House Holiday Events 2017
Some feature private swimming pools, dedicated laundry facilities, fireplaces or hot tubs. Cottage guests have the added convenience of a dedicated concierge to coordinate requests both before and during their visit as well as the privilege of Ocean House Club membership for the term of the rental agreement. This season we are pleased to introduce two new residences to the Ocean House Cottage Collection. Wickiup (a native American word for “hut”) is a registered historic home in the Watch Hill Fire District. Built in 1890, this impeccably restored eight-bedroom home
Ocean House Fund for Charitable Giving Ocean House Management (OHM) Collection officially introduced the Ocean House Fund for Charitable Giving at the end of 2017, created to raise funds to help families in need. The Ocean House Fund for Charitable Giving is a donor-advised fund administered in cooperation with the Rhode Island Foundation to focus on philanthropic efforts to support children, the disadvantaged, and foodways related causes in the New England area. Guests donate bikes and other gifts for children in need during Ocean House’s Chlidrens Christmas Party.
OHM management and associates designed the fund to support worthy local community-based organizations and have already raised over $20,000 since its inception. In 2018 the fund will continue to raise money through event programming, charity drives, and guest and employee involvement. Distribution of the fund will be determined annually by a committee of employees from Ocean House, Weekapaug Inn and Watch Hill Inn.

What They’re Saying About Us ... These notable publications and media have recently featured Ocean House! “The California Coast may get all the press, but those on the right coast know that nothing beats New England. Few places capture the natty spirit of New England better than Ocean House and its sister property, Weekapaug Inn. Only a short distance from each other, these two hotels with different styles are a bit like the Kate and Pippa Middleton of resorts; Ocean House is the regal and more traditional one, while Weekapaug Inn has a sporty flair. Perhaps the best part about these two is their willingness to share; stay at one property and you are entitled to the amenities of the other.”
“Perched high on the bluffs, Ocean House is an impressive structure overlooking a pristine stretch of beach with views of the Atlantic Ocean, Montauk and Block Island. The spa provides
