Leukemia is a cancer of the blood cells, it happens when there is a problem with blood cells production. Leukemia usually affects white blood cells (WBSs). White blood cells are a vital part of your immune system. WBCs protect our body from assault by bacteria, viruses, fungi, abnormal cells and other foreign substances. In the United States, 60 thousand people are expected to receive a diagnosis of leukemia in 2017, and around 24,500 deaths will likely be due to this disease.

Risk factors for leukemia Here are some risk factors for leukemia, which may increase your risk of leukemia • A family history of leukemia • Smoking • Genetic disorders • Blood disorders • Exposure to high levels of radiation
