DARI DAY1 BREAKING THE ICE

t’s 3:00 PM, Everyone met at the project site: The roof The first session started with an ice breaking exercise.

The participants along with children formed a circle introduced themselves randomly. We suggested to each to chose a word that represent them the most, inciting them to talk and to initiate group discussions.

A wool had been used as a tool to create a physical connection during the first talks. The session was managed and directed by Sarah Essam, our team building coach.

After breaking the ice, the Dari team (Playworkers and children) formed small groups of 4-5 where they developed a mind map for the building where they live. The session included playing, free drawings. The day ended with a discussion around the theme: My perfect day. The kids used mediums such as drawing, painting and polymer clay to communicate their thoughts and ideas.

‫ابتدأت ورشة العمل يف الساعة الثالثة ظهرا ‪ ،‬وذلك باستخدام السطح (وهو املكان‬ ‫‪.‬الذي سنقوم بتصميمه يف املرشوع) كمكان لعقد الورشة‬ ‫ابتدأ الجزء االول من الورشة بالتعارف بطريقة مختلفة ‪ ،‬حيث شكل كل من‬ ‫املتطوعني واالطفال حلقة كبرية ‪ ،‬جلس فيها الجميع ‪ ،‬حيث يقوم كل فرد من‬ ‫الجالسني بتعريفنا باسمه ‪ ،‬ومن ثم ذكر كلمة تعني له شيئا‪ .‬ذلك وقد رافق‬ ‫هذا النشاط تشكيل شبكة من خيط الصوف ‪ ،‬لرتبط بني املتحدثني املختلفني ‪،‬‬ ‫وتشكل شبكة تعرب عام يحدث عندما نشارك افكارنا مع االخرين ‪ .‬قامت سارة‬ ‫‪.‬عصام خبرية التخاطب بادارة هذا الجزء من الورشة‬ ‫استمر العمل عىل شكل مجموعات يف الجزء التاين ‪ ،‬حيث شكلت مجموعات‬ ‫متكونة من ‪ ٤‬او ‪ ٥‬أفراد‪ .‬كل مجموعة قامت برسم الخريطة الذهنية للمبنى و‬ ‫النقاش;و قد قام األطفال بالتحدث عن عاداتهم ونشاطاتهم اليومية ‪ ،‬باالضافه‬ ‫اىل تخيل “اليوم املثايل” بالنسبة له ‪ ،‬حيث يكون مرسح هذا اليوم هو سطح‬ ‫الدار‪ .‬استخدم االطفال وسائط للتعبري عن افكارهم كالرسم والتلوين والتشكيل‬ ‫بالصلصال‬

he workshop started at 2:00 PM. Tables and tools were brought to the location in order to facilitate the workshop. There was a pre-session with Wa9a3 Tani NGO to set a framework for the activities that will encourage and facilitate the Co-Design process.

The session، moderated by Mohamed Amin، aimed to investigate the usage of the roof by the children, the active and inactive spots, what type of games the children decided (by using the space) that accommodates the area, the shading and space elements (walls, columns, flooring. etc.). Amin, started to talk to the children explaining these ideas, the more the children understood by using different examples, they starting to interact, and share their own ideas and understandings about the activities that takes place in the roof.

After the brainstorming session, a layout of the space was provided. Amin started to explain to the children how to read the layout of the space, and asked them to place each activity in the zoning where it takes place. Kids started placing games from their daily routine such as football, racing activities, or desired ones such as table tennis and even skateboarding track. The session ended with a basic zoning layout for the roof.

‫تم ادارة العملية التصميمية التشاركية مع االطفال من قبل محمد أمني ( حوش‬ ‫ حيث كان الهدف الرئييس هو بحث وتقيص اساليب استغالل االطفال‬، )‫يجمعنا الب‬ ‫ وطريقة استخدام االطفال للمساحة‬، ‫للمساحة املوجودة وذلك بفهم طريقة اللعب‬ ‫ قام أمني برشح هذه االفكار لالطفال‬. ) .. ‫ االعمدة‬، ‫والعنارص الثابتة ( الجدران‬ ‫ وكيفية استخدامهم للسطح‬، ‫الذين ساهموا باضافة منظورهم الشخيص لالفكار‬ . ‫ قام فريق املتطوعني بوضع‬. ‫بعد طرح االفكار املختلفة من قبل املتطوعني واالطفال‬ ‫ وطلب منهم‬، ‫ ورشح امني لالطفال طريقة قراءة هذا املخطط‬، ‫مسقط افقي للسطح‬ ‫ وزع االطفال النشاطات اليومية املعتادة ككرة‬.‫توزيع االنشطه عىل املسقط امامهم‬ ‫ ثم قاموا باضافة بعض االلعاب‬، ‫القدم ونشاط السباق يف االماكن املعروفة لهم‬ ‫ حتى ان بعضهم ارص عىل وجود مكان الستخدام الواح التزلج‬، ‫ املرغوبة كطاولة التنس‬. ‫ تم الوصول اىل توزيع مبديئ لالنشطة للسطح‬، ‫ يف نهاية اليوم‬.

TELL ME A STORY ‫احكي يل حكاية‬ T

Collaborative Design

he goal of the third phase is to entice the imagination of the children to start drawing the stories of what is happening in the space using characters designed by them, where each scene of each story take place in the roof. Session 1: Storytelling and brainstorming: allowing the children to participate in the story details , add their own ideas and thoughts, pick the scenes and choose main elements. Session 2: choose a scene and use different tools to set it up ( colors , physical objects – using old materials Tools used: drawing, painting and crafts, recycled elements (using soft materials to make the characters) The session is designed and implemented by: Layla Zibar, Salah Abbas, Somaia Abolezz, Medhat M. Kazem,Maie Mohamed Aly.
