Tuck into a selection of mouth-watering home-made sandwiches, scones and indulgent cakes with a pot of tea or an Americano coffee, for just £15 per person. Afternoon Tea must be booked in advance via the box office.

Pre-Theatre Supper Our new seasonal menu includes a range of pies from Derby favourite Owen Taylor, including chicken, leek & stilton and steak & ale, served with seasonal vegetables and potatoes. Vegetarian and vegan options are also available on request. Pre-Theatre supper is just £8.50 and must be pre-booked via the box office, up until the day before the performance.

Celebrating 250 years of Circus!

Derby Festé will bring a bag full tricks and a sprinkling of magic.

This year, Derby Festé celebrates 250 years of Circus and kicks off on Thursday night for a fantastic, exciting and exhilarating circus ‘Now or Never’ by Circa Tsuica.

Enjoy the circus spectacle under a star studded big top, with a vibrant band of international acrobats and musicians. Now or Never will have three performances Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Tickets for this are limited and are priced at just £10 each.

Beverly and husband Laurence are entertaining their newlywed neighbours. Joining them is twitchy divorcee Sue, banished from the party of her teenage daughter. After one of her regular visits to see grandmother Abigail in hospital, 15 year old Abisheera (‘Abi’ for short) decides to throw her one last party, convinced it will get her beloved Nan back on her feet.

Struggling to face the imminent reality of life without the only family member she is close to, Abi throws her all into planning Abigail’s final party. But as Abi tries to clear her head and her grandmother’s flat, family secrets begin to surface.

Ayesha Manazir Siddiqi’s debut explores the selfishness of charitable acts and our relationship with those we deem ‘other.’

Asylum is part of Ignite, Tamasha’s Associate Producer Programme, supported by Arts Council England’s Sustained Theatre Programme. Derby Theatre are also working in partnership with Maison Foo and Derby Refugee Advice Centre to make theatres a more welcoming space for Refugees and those seeking asylum.

When self-centred salesman Charlie Babbitt discovers that his long-lost brother Raymond, an autistic savant with a genius for numbers, has inherited the family fortune, he sets out to get ‘his half’.

Charlie ‘borrows’ Raymond from the institution where he has spent most of his life and the two brothers embark on a trip across America where Charlie soon discovers that Raymond is worth more than he could have ever imagined…

MATHEW HORNE (Raymond Babbit) is best known for playing Gavin in the much-loved, double BAFTA winning comedy series Gavin and Stacey, as well as the BBC series The Catherine Tate Show, and Jack Whitehall’s Bad Education. One Man Stranger Things: A Parody Sunday 7 October, 7.30pm

Talented Canadian actor Charles Ross single-handedly recreates season one of the Netflix sensation; all the characters, dialogue, special effects, music & eggos in one superb, upside-down show.

Charles Ross and TJ Dawe grew up in the 80s, addicted to adventure movies. They went on to co-create a number of parody shows, including One Man Lord of the Rings which got the official seal of approval from Sir Ian McKellen and One Man Star Wars, which has been performed over 1200 times in more than 180 cities across four continents.

Ross Noble Sunday 28 October, 8pm Who is El Hablador? It’s Ross Noble.

No, but who is the one they call El Hablador?

I just said, it is Ross Noble. You know? Long hair, does stand up where he dances about the stage, spinning out all the nonsense in his head into a show.

But what is the legend of El Hablador?

I don’t think it’s a thing. It’s clearly Ross coming up with a name for his show, so he can make out like he is some sort of mysterious shadowy figure.

Ok I get it.

Ross Noble returns to dance around the stage spinning out all the nonsense in his head into a hilarious stand up show. At some point, he may wander into a shadowy part of the stage and look a bit shadowy.

Performed by a cast of 40 young performers aged between 13 and 25 from the Derby and Nottingham area, this promises to be a fun and feel-good evening for all the family.

Based on the novel and the hit 2001 movie of the same name, Legally Blonde: The Musical chronicles the journey of the famously perky Elle Woods, a Californian sorority girl who finds her life turned upside down when she is dumped by her boyfriend, Warner. In an effort to prove that she is more than what she seems, she follows him to Harvard Law School, where she struggles to fit in, yet ultimately defies expectations and manages to stay true to her delightfully pink personality.

Tuesday 6 - Saturday 10 November Guys and Dolls is a musical romantic comedy, set in the Manhattan of Damon Runyon’s short stories.

It tells of con-man Nathan Detroit’s efforts to find new life for his illegal, but notorious, crap game.

Guys and Dolls takes us from bustle of Times Square to the dance clubs of Havana to the sewers of New York City as it demonstrates the great lengths to which a guy will go when he truly falls in love with a “doll.”

Guys and Dolls features some of Frank Loesser’s most memorable tunes, including the hilarious “Adelaide’s Lament,” the romantic “I’ve Never Been in Love Before,” the exuberant “If I Were a Bell,” and the classic “Luck Be a Lady.”

When did you come out as male? Or female? Camden People’s Theatre will be taking over our venue with a host of performances and workshops from gender-anarchists with more questions than answers.

In the last few years, progressive thinking about gender has gone mainstream, and understanding has developed of gender as infinite variety. More and more individuals are reclaiming the right to define their genders, their bodies, their selves. Following a hugely successful first edition in 2017, Come As You Are has been transformed into a pop up festival that will tour to venues across the UK. Headlined by Bullish by Milk Presents, the makers of smash-hit Joan (Off West End, Fringe First and Stage Award winner) pits ancient mythology against modern gender navigation to furiously disrupt, traverse and rewrite the rulebook. Stepping into the ring with a gender fierce ensemble of hopers and renegades, Bullish is a story about packing, passing, and gambling your way out of the labyrinth.

Come As You Are festival will celebrate and interrogate all the world’s issues regarding female, male, between and beyond. It’s not going to be pretty – but it might just be beautiful.

DT Ambassadors

Derby Theatre is committed to supporting young artists of all ages, backgrounds and interests. We provide regular groups and pop up events that cover a wide range of theatre skills, run by Derby Theatre staff and associate artists. Our doors are open for all children and young people to try things out, learn new skills and meet other like-minded people.

Are you curious about how a theatre works across all the different departments? Our DT Ambassadors group meet fortnightly to work with designers, programmers and marketing professionals amongst others. You will also receive complimentary tickets for special Ambassadors’ nights so that you can help us spread the word about our fabulous shows and activities at Derby Theatre.

Youth Theatre Our Youth Theatre provides young people aged between 8 and 18 the opportunity to not only enjoy theatre, but also to explore their creativity and express themselves in a safe and supportive environment. Working with professional theatre practitioners, all groups work towards a major annual show, either on our main stage or studio theatre. Our friendly groups are open to all and we have several groups for different ages.

Young Technicians This annual course looks at all aspects of the technical side of theatre including lighting, sound and design, and is run by our professional technicians.

You will also gain technical experience and shadowing opportunities on our shows.

Costume and Prop Hire We hire costumes and props to professional, amateur and community theatre groups, schools and colleges to name a few. We have over 2,500 costume pieces built up over many years and an eclectic selection of props and we are always adding to our stock!

Derby Theatre Community Ambassadors Our Community Ambassador scheme is open to anyone who is interested in being part of Derby Theatre – be it through talking about our shows to your local community or bringing a friend who is new to Derby Theatre, we want to hear from you.

Tea and Tour Come and look round backstage and meet members of the team to find out more about the roles in our theatre and how a show is put together.

Approx 1 hour Cost: £10 per head (including tea and biscuits) If you attend a matinee performance you can add on tea and a tour for just £5 a head!

Preview performances are a fantastic opportunity to see a public performance in its early stages. The creative team are still in the process of applying final touches to the production and the great ticket price for these performances reflects this.

For all shows marked with a ‘New Deal’, 10% of the seats are available at just £10 or £15.

But book early – when they’re gone, they’re gone!

Group bookings, and school groups receive a discount on most shows, as well as a flexible booking process.

We are only open on Sundays and Bank Holidays if an event is on.

How to pay We accept all types of card payments, except American Express. Cheques are only accepted for group bookings.

We can post tickets to you via 2nd class post if you are booking seven days in advance, at a cost of £1.

Otherwise, you can collect the tickets from us at your convenience, or we can email them to you to print at home.

Previews are a fantastic opportunity to see the very first public performances of a Derby Theatre production at a reduced price. The discount reflects that the creative team are still in the process of applying the finishing final touches to the production and there is a slightly increased chance that a Preview Performance may start late or be postponed or cancelled.

Refunds and reprints All tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled.

Lost tickets can be reprinted free of charge no earlier than one hour before the start of the performance.

The most convenient car park is intu Derby basement car park (DE1 2PL) accessed from Traffic Street. To make life even easier you can buy your evening car park ticket at the same time you book your theatre tickets. Parking is only £2 after 5pm in this car park.

Access for all Derby Theatre welcomes all customers and has an extensive range of services to ensure you have an enjoyable and comfortable visit. We have been verified as being an accessible venue for disabled people

by CredAbillity – an independent quality mark run by disabled people. More information can be found on our website: www.derbytheatre.co.uk/your-visit/accessibility If you require any assistance, information or support during your visit with us please inform the Box Office when booking your tickets, this way we can find the best seats for you and ensure our staff.

Wheelchair access

Derby Theatre has limited wheelchair spaces in the main auditorium and studio, which need to be booked in advance through the Box Office. For our studio access is through the intu basement car park.

We have a fully accessible drop-off point at the top of the theatre for access to our main auditorium with a permanent ramped double door entrance.

Alternatively you can park in the intu basement car park in area C. There is a Derby Theatre lift situated inside the car park, which will give you full access to both floors of the theatre. We have accessible toilets on both levels of our building and our Café, Bar and Box Office all have low counters.

Personal support We operate an Assisted Access scheme designed for those who require somebody to be present in order to assist them to readily access theatre shows. This scheme allows members to purchase one standard ticket and have one ticket for the assistant at no cost.

To apply for the access scheme please contact the Box Office.

Difficulty accessing audible information

Sound enhancement systems are installed in the main auditorium. We offer Digital RF Headsets and induction loops which can be picked up from our Front of House team.

Assistance dogs Assistance dogs are welcome in all areas of the building. Please discuss this when booking your tickets.

Captioning by the Difference Engine

Some performances provide captioning using the Difference Engine – a tool that can be downloaded onto your smart phone or tablet prior to the show.
