Dags att höra lite hur de utbytesstudenter som KOMMER till Karolinska Institutet har haft det. Hur är vi som värdar? Läs intervjuer med två tandläkarstudenter som valde att åka till Stockholm på utbyte!
Henrike Betsch, Nijmegen What is the best thing about your school? In Nijmegen we start really early to practice. Preclinic starts in our first year and clinic in our second year. Much earlier than in many other countries. I really like that our school focuses so much on the practical aspects. What is the best thing about Karolinska Institutet? The standard at KI is really high and the school is well organised. I really like the working climate at the clinic. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. I immediately felt part of the group. Swedish people seems to be less stressed than people back home. The relationship between the students, teacher and patient seems to be less formal since everyone calls themselves by their first name. I think this is really positive and helps to create a better relationship between all the parties. What is the biggest difference between your school and KI? I think there are more similarities than differences between my school and KI. Back in the Netherlands the study takes six years instead of five. We have only two different teachers for clinical classes every year. I really had to get used to changing teacher all the time and having so many opinions on one treatment and changing treatment plans a lot. But I think you can also learn a lot from having many teachers at the same time, there is no one way of doing thing right.
What has been the best and most fun part about your exchange here in Stockholm? I think the best thing about the Erasmus is to meet dentistry students from all over the world. I love the exchange of culture and it is really interesting to get their point of view on dentistry. Furthermore Stockholm is a great place to explore. Would you recommend students to go on an exchange program? Definitely, I think everyone should take the opportunity as you will never get the chance again to live and study in an other country this easily. Would you recommend students at your school to be exchange students at KI? Of course. I haven’t experienced any other schools but KI met all my expectations.
