LET FREEDOM RING There's something magical about fireworks in the summertime. It can take anyone back to being a kid where dreams are endless and life is an opportunity. But why stop dreaming? It's easy to see dreams are coming alive all across Chickasha. I personally can attest to just that. I have grown up with a love for this town. At a young age, it was very clear the bonds made were genuine. Now I see a lot of those same familiar faces in Chickasha's corner rooting for all their neighbors and friends to succeed. This is what a great community is made of! My advice to you; get involved. There is so much good happening in town. From live music, entertainment, the return of Christmas in July, Grady County Free Fair and open patios this summer is bound to be magical. So, I'll be seeing you around town!

WHAT IS CHRISTMAS IN JULY? The Chamber and Economic Development Council put their heads together to find ways to support our local businesses during summer months. When you think of Chickasha, what's the first thing that comes to mind? For most, it's the Festival of Light. This is the concept behind Christmas in July. Why not bring that same sense of community and holiday spirit to town more than once a year? In Chickasha, it's Christmas town year round!

EVENTS TOO HOT TO MISS The Santa Shop-a-Thon is on for the whole month and you won't want to miss this. Shop at participating merchants through the MONTH OF JULY and take your receipts of $50 or more to the Chamber each week to be eligible to win prizes of $20-$300 weekly. Double receipts are awarded for taking your photo with one of the Christmas cardboard characters along the way! Every MONDAY in July, check out the Chickasha Chamber's Facebook for Emoji Bingo Riddles. The first person to message them the correct answer to the riddle will receive a gift card bundle. Be sure to follow the Chickasha Chamber page to be eligible! THURSDAY Tidings are back with a twist. Each Thursday at 3PM The Chamber and EDC will be drawing LIVE on Facebook for FIVE winners of the #ShopChickasha’s Santa Shopa-thon. On July 7, 21 and 28 FREE Christmas movies will be shown at the Washita Theater. Go to chickashachamber.com to find a full list of participating merchants and try your hand at finding a Christmas cardboard characters with their online map. Make sure to follow the Chamber social medias to get updates about these events and watch their live drawing every THURSDAY!

THE GRAND FINALE The Chamber and EDC will be hosting the Christmas CoolDown Concert and Block Party on July 30th, starting at 5PM in the 100-200 blocks of Chickasha Avenue. Activities include a Santa Snow Cone Social with FREE Jungle Ice snow cones (from 6-7PM) and pictures with Cycle Santa, art activities with The Chickasha Area Arts Council, water slides, and so much more! The concert starts at 7:30 PM and King George will take the stage at 8:30 PM. A brief firework show will end the night. WE’LL SEE YOU THERE!

After searching for the perfect combination of a bustling city and small town feel, Asa and his family have planted their roots here in Grady County. Music is a free therapy for Asa, who classifies his music as country bluesy meets southern rock. This selftaught musician plays the guitar, harmonica and footdrum during his performances. If that isn’t impressive enough, he never makes a set list and just plays off the energy of the audience. From Colter Wall to Prince, everyone can enjoy listening to Asa. You can catch Asa playing at The Speak Lounge, Canadian Brewing Co or your next private event!

ZACH GRAYSON AND JOSH WOODS Two Vets Clothing Co is owned and operated by Zach Grayson and Josh Woods. This dynamic duo met while serving in the Army and have grown their friendship into a thriving partnership. Their first business venture was Interurban of Chickasha and “The Urb” food truck. When attending fairs with the food truck they noticed people wearing patriotic t-shirts which were only available online. This sparked an idea, leading to Two Vets Clothing Co. This local store provides accessible patriotic apparel for all in one convenient location. Since opening, the duo has expanded their ventures to include a full service graphic and signage company, Dragoon Graphics, where they print some of the patriotic shirt designs in-house. In addition to their own designs, Two Vets sells Grunt Style and Oscar Mike apparel. In true veteran fashion, they make sure to give back as well with a portion of the proceeds benefiting veterans. The passion behind Two Vets apparel is freedom of speech and the ability to express oneself in their daily wear. Just like the love they have for our country, these two love our community. Both are very
involved in promoting Chickasha and helping our town thrive. Zach currently serves as Vice Mayor of Chickasha while Josh stays heavily involved with service throughout the community. With more than 3 businesses striving to enhance our town, it is safe to say there is more to come from these two. If this weren't enough, Zach and Josh were named the 2021 Chamber of Commerce Citizens of the Year. This well-deserved award was just icing on the cake after all they have accomplished. Corn Salad a cold delicious side dish Preparation
Ingredients
Step 1 In medium sized mixing bowl, combine corn, bell pepper, green onion, cilantro and shredded cheese.
Pie • 1 14.5oz can Sweet Corn (drained) • 1 Bell Pepper, diced • 1/2 cup Green Onion, diced • 1/2 cup Cilantro, chopped • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar • 1 cup Mayonnaise • 1 Tsp Garlic Powder • 1 Tsp Onion Powder • 1 Tsp Black Pepper • 1/4 Tsp Salt • 2 TBSP Lime Juice • 9.25oz bag Fritos, crushed
Step 2 In another bowl, combine mayonnaise, all spices and lime juice. Whisk to combine. Step 3 Add mayonnaise mixture to bowl of veggies and mix thoroughly. Refrigerate at least 30 minutes. Step 4 Before serving, mix in half the bag of crushed Fritos and top with the other half. Enjoy! An Inside Alexander Eats tip: Use Chili Cheese Fritos for added flavor.

Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade Preparation

Ingredients
Step 1 Whisk together dragonfruit powder and grape juice until dissolved.

Step 2 Fill a glass halfway with ice and optional diced dragon fruit. Pour in the dragonfruit powder mixture. Add mango juice.

Step 3 Pour in lemonade, and mix well. Add a scoop of optional diced dragon fruit and enjoy! Note: • It’s important to mix the dragonfruit powder with a small amount of liquid first to make sure it dissolves completely. • To add caffeine to this drink, just mix in some green coffee extract or green tea.

urns out “Shop Local” has always been a big movement in Chickasha. In the early 1920s, it was known as “Trade Days.” The first Monday of every month Choctaw Ave would be lined with goods such as tractor supplies, fencing, food and home goods. As Pat Cunningham at the Historical Society put it, this was the Chickasha Buy, Sell, or Trade of the early 1900s. It was a time for those who lived in the country to come to town and gather all their needs for the month. As you can see in the photos, it was remarkable how many people attended Trade Days. In addition to citizens bringing their goods, the local stores would have promotions and sales on

this day to entice buyers to step into their stores. These deals included drawings such as a new stove just like the stove found in the Historical Society Museum today. Fun Fact: Harry’s burgers can be seen in the photo above where a small burger was 5 cents and a large burger was 10 cents.
