HELLO! Summer days drifting away to oh, oh, those summer nights! Where are my Grease fans? Summer is officially here and bringing all the fun things to town. I love being outside and getting all the natural vitamin D I can get. Whether it is relaxing with friends on the patio or going fishing, count me in! Our sweet town is jam packed with fun things to do this summer. So, we thought it would be cool to do a scavenger hunt to hit all the great local spots in Chickasha. From live music to bomb food, the upcoming fair and firework show there is something fun for everyone! The live music scene is really picking up as the nights begin to warm. Trust me, the biggest issue you'll have this summer is deciding which concert to go to! It has been really amazing to see all the hard work all of our Oh18 peeps (that’s you) are putting in to ensure our great town isn't just thriving, but becoming the destination we always knew it to be. The drive to make this town the best it can be is evident and an honor to be a part of.

WHAT IS CHRISTMAS IN JULY? During the beginning of the pandemic, the Chamber and EDC put their heads together to find ways to support our local businesses. When you think of Chickasha, what's the first thing that comes to mind? For most, it's the Festival of Light. This is the concept behind Christmas in July. Why not bring that same sense of community and holiday spirit to town more than once a year?
THE SECOND MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF YEAR 14 \\ JULY-AUGUST 2021
The first year of Christmas in July was a blast, but we are making the second year even better! For the entire month of July Chickasha will have all kinds of cool events and giveaways.
THURSDAY NIGHT TIDINGS Thursdays in July will now be known as Thursday Night Tidings. Our downtown merchants will be extending their hours until 7pm for extra shopping time. The Chamber will be offering a holiday snack or drink. Following downtown shopping, the Washita Theater will be showing Christmas movies. Go to chickashachamber.com to find a full list of participating merchants and try your hand with their downloadable bingo card. Make sure to follow the Chamber social media to get updates about these events and watch their live drawing every Friday. Each Christmas In July game you play gives you a chance to win a $50 or $25 gift certificate provided by the Economic Development Council.
,
ALL MONTH WE WILL BE PLAYING CHRISTMAS MOVIE SCAVENGER HUNT AND CHRISTAMAS MOVIE EMOJI BINGO. Here are the rules for Christmas Movie Scavenger Hunt: 1. Locate cardboard cutouts of Christmas characters in businesses. 2. Take a selfie with the cutout. 3. Post on social media and tag the Chickasha Chamber.

Hometown
sound
The Imaginaries is an Americana band formed in the open plains of Oklahoma. Consisting of husband & wife duo Shane Henry of Verden (guitar, vocals) & Maggie McClure of Norman (piano, vocals), their debut album was released March 26, 2021. It was recorded in famed Muscle Shoals, AL with legendary “Swampers” & serves as both an introduction to The Imaginaries and the beginning of their journey as a band after both singer songwriters have enjoyed their own successes as solo artists.
DEBUT ALBUM RELEASED MARCH 26
Recently they co-produced, co-starred in, and created music for feature film, "A Cowgirl's Song", which just wrapped production in Chickasha.

Boozy Firecracker Popsicles adult summer treat
Preparation
Ingredients
Step 1 In a saucepan over medium heat combine together sugar and water. Cook until the sugar is dissolved making a simple syrup. Remove from stove and let cool.
• 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar • 1/2 cup Water • 3 cups Fresh Lemon Juice • 1/3 cup Red, White, & Berry Vodka (or half lemon vodka, half cherry vodka) • 1/8 teaspoon Raspberry Extract • Red & Blue Food Coloring
Step 2 Combine simple syrup, lemon juice, vodka and raspberry extract. Stir until combined then divide into three different measuring cups. Step 3 In one cup, add two drops of red food coloring and stir until combined. In another cup, add two drops of blue food coloring and stir until combined. Leave the third cup uncolored. This will be your white layer. Step 4 Starting with the red cup, pour the mixture one third of the way into your molds. Repeat until you've filled all molds up 1/3 of the way. Put mold in freezer and let set for 4-6 hours. Slowly pour white layer on top of red, filling up another 1/3 of the mold. Freeze for another two hours. If using wooden popsicle sticks, stick them into your white layer 1 hour into freezing. After, repeat with blue layer filling the molds the rest of the way up. Freeze 4-6 hours for each layer. Step 5 When fully frozen, run hot water on the outside of your mold to loosen the popsicles.

Easy Bay Breeze Cocktail a taste of the tropics
Preparation
Ingredients
Step 1 Add the pineapple juice and vodka to a glass and stir. Fill the glass with ice.
• 3 tablespoons 100% Pineapple Juice • 2 tablespoons Vodka • 6 tablespoons 100% Unsweetened Cranberry Juice (do not use sweetened or cocktail) • 1 teaspoons Maple Syrup or Simple Syrup* • 1 Lime Wedge
Step 2 In a shot glass or small pitcher, combine the cranberry juice and syrup* and stir. Step 3 To make a layered drink look, tip the glass of pineapple juice slightly and pour the cranberry mixture along side of glass so that it can glide to bottom. (See How to Make a Layered Drink.) Otherwise, just pour in the cranberry and maple and stir.
*If all you can find is sweetened cranberry juice/cranberry juice cocktail, omit the syrup.
Step 4 Garnish with a lime wedge and serve.

1. Make sure to keep your beard and skin moisturized. This is essential for summer beard maintenance as sun and water dry out hair and skin. 2. Keep your beard brushed or combed. This will help keep tangles and knots at bay. 3. Using oils, balms or both is the best way to keep your beard and face moisturized. These products also help reduce itchiness and make it easier to comb through. 4. Choose a regular maintenance schedule with your barber or stylist to keep your beard groomed and looking sharp. 40 \\ JULY-AUGUST 2021

Washita Theater
B
ack in 1935, the original Washita Theater opened as one of the town’s cinema theaters. The building we know and love today was not built until 1941 when the original building burned down in December of 1939. The theater premiered “Tom, Dick, and Harry” starring Ginger Rogers and “Hold That Ghost ” starring Bud Abbott and Lou Costello as the first cinema attractions. April 2001 Washita Theater closed its doors. They remained closed u n t il December 2001 when Chickasha Community Theatre bought the building as a permanent location for their performances. CCT then began renovating the building to turn it into a proper theatre. The transformation was completed in 2009. The Washita Theater now houses all of Chickasha Community Theatre’s performances while still honoring the historic building. Be sure to check out the upcoming showing of “Elephant ’s Graveyard” this August 7tth and 8th.
