HELLO CHICKASHA! I don’t know if I'm more excited to be living in comfy sweatshirts or that the Holiday Season has finally arrived to our Christmastown! Coming off the bloat from the Food Truck Championship into cooler weather allows for a seamless transition to big oversized sweaters just in time to hide the Thanksgiving belly. You know what I’m talking about. Add football bowl games, Festival of Light and Christmas - it doesn’t get much better! And, I will throw in an obligatory BOOMER! As the buzz continues to surround Chickasha, our “small town charm” is easy to fall in love with. One of my favorite quotes I have seen on Interurban’s sign is, “some people look for a beautiful place, others make a place beautiful.” There are countless people I know in this community who do just that. Being a part of Oh18 has been a blessing because I get to see the good in people on a regular basis. Isn’t this what the holiday is all about? It's amazing to see a community so willing to work together and not see a similar establishment as competition, but as a partner. This type of mindset is what sets Chickasha apart. Does our community have flaws? Yes, we are only human and a very special book tells us we will fall short. But with forward momentum, little acts of kindness, and working together we can and are doing great things! So join us in finding active ways to help our community. Whether it’s helping pick up trash, decorating, words of encouragement or shopping/dining locally - no task is too small.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!

Why Chickasha? I believe Chickasha has arrived! We are not hamstrung by yesterday's failures, nor fearful of upcoming challenges. Every day is Christmas Day in Chickasha, smells of restaurants opening, new businesses, constant stream of new residents and visitors. Excitement is in the air today! We are living in the present and it has never been better! Merry Christmas Chickasha! – Johnny Trammell

Pumpkin Pie with Cinnamon Roll Crust perfect twist on a classic
Preparation
Ingredients
Step 1 On a lightly floured surface, roll pie crust to 1/2 thickness. Mix the butter, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla. Spread the mixture over the entire crust.
Crust • 1 package pie crust • 4 Tbsp melted butter • 1/2 c brown sugar • 2 tsp cinnamon • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Step 2 Roll the crust into a tight spiral. Cut the spiral into 1/2 thick pieces. Roll each piece on a lightly floured surface into a 1/4 inch round. Step 3 Place the pieces in a pie plate overlapping them slightly and pressing to seal until pan is full. Cut off excess and use the tines of a fork to make indentions around the edge. Chill the crust at least 30 mins before adding filling. Step 4 In a medium bowl, whisk the pumpkin puree with the evaporated milk, sugar, pumpkin-pie spice, vanilla extract and eggs to combine. Pour the custard into the chilled piecrust.
Pie Filling • 14 oz can pumpkin puree • 14 oz can evaporated milk • 1/2 c sugar • 1 Tbsp pumpkin pie spice • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract • 2 eggs • Whipped cream for serving
Step 5 Place the pie in the oven and bake until the custard is set around the edge but slightly jiggly in the middle, about 50 minutes to 1 hour. If the crust begins to brown too quickly, cover the edge all around with foil.

First National Bank
irst National Bank was founded in August of 1892 as Citizen Bank in Chickasha, Indian Territory. The bank was founded by a man named Harley Tuttle who came to Oklahoma from Texas following the cattle business. As wealth from ranching grew, Tuttle established Citizens Bank in a tent! After the Great Depression in 1929, Citizens Bank merged with another bank to become Citizen Farmers National Bank. The bank wouldn't be known as The First National Bank until 1938.

The beautiful historic building we know today was erected in April of 1931 on the corner of Chickasha Ave and 3rd Street. Since then, the building has been expanded in 1966, 1999 and 2015. From the beginning, no matter their name, First National Bank has been focused on local decisions, community enrichment and smallbusiness growth.
which provided a strong foundation for the bank that is seen today. This continued focus has shown to be beneficial to both the bank and community. By the 1950s, the bank developed a drive-up teller booth to offer curbside service to their customers. This teller booth literally popped up from the sidewalk with the use of hydraulics. Drive-up tellers became a huge success and now First National Bank offers 36 lanes in total between their multiple locations in Oklahoma. Before the development of cash registers, First National used the Brandy Automatic Cashier. This device was used to dispense change by the press of a button. Prior to computers, the Electric Posting Machine was used to provide reports and keep records. Both of these devices can be viewed in the Grady County Historical Society Museum. The bank went through another name change in 1965 when the bank expanded to offer a fullservice Trust Department. The name expanded to what we know today as First National Bank & Trust Co. Today the bank serves many customers by expertly managing their trust accounts for family properties, mineral interests, farmland and assets of every kind.
As technology continues to grow, First National Bank is constantly adjusting their services while staying true to its core values within the community. Today the Bank can assist in mortgages and offers online and mobile services.
F U N FA C T
When the bank first opened in 1900, it became a national bank with assets exceeding $174,000. It reached $1 million in assets after steady growth in 1929.
Thank you to Grady County Historical Society and First National Bank & Trust for photos and historical information.

When looking back at your fondest memories of Chickasha it can send you down memory lane for days. Enjoy these sweet memories from Jacoby Jarnagin. "I have wonderful memories of Chickasha being a Christmas town. I grew up in and out of Jays' Jewelry helping my dad and the Downtown Association building angels, light displays and also setting up Christmas Parades. When I turned 14, John and Patti Rogstad (Big John's & Funlight Creations) gave me my first job. I started out welding and painting frames, putting the clips on and stringing the lights on the displays for the Festival of Light. I can't remember how many truck loads of t-post and displays we set up, but it was completely worth it as the lights came on and our Christmas town came to life. I am proud that these traditions have grown and now my wife and I get to share them with our children." - Jacoby Jarnagin
