President’s Message
Team Play
Annual Conference and AoD laid the bricks for a renewed foundation as we celebrated our community in style REPRESENTATIVES from National Homes, ADhoc Studio, esQape design inc., Kirkor Architects & Planners and McOuat Partnership took the stage and, arm in arm, smiled for the camera as I handed over their Project of the Year (Highor Mid-Rise) award, and it occurred to me that this was like OHBA’s entire 2023 Annual Conference and Awards of Distinction distilled into a single moment. Five separate firms had sung in perfect pitch, combining their talents to earn top honours for their Northshore project in Burlington. It was a theme continually ohba.ca
@onhomebuilder
repeated for multiple firms—and OHBA in general—over three marvellous days in September at Blue Mountain Resort in Collingwood: Look what we can achieve when great depths of talent are harnessed with a singular objective in mind! Beginning with active and productive Executive Officers and Board of Directors meetings on Day One, to the Annual Meeting of Members and a day of expert-led topical seminars, to the President’s Gala, Association Awards and Awards of Distinction, OHBA members from across the province came together to toast their own,
but also to support each other with advice and expertise. I learn so much at these annual conferences—every industry function, really! It’s always humbling to be amid giants of this industry—all so willing to share what they’ve learned in their illustrious careers. The view from 10,000 feet, of course, reveals the somewhat lengthy line of staff and trades who propped them all up—and who prop me up as I step with honour and humility into the role of OHBA’s 55th president. I thank immediate Past President Louie Zagordo for his amazing work over the past year, and I thank my executive team for their tireless efforts in recent months during a period of transition within the association. And a special shoutout to First VicePresident Mike Memme and Second Vice-President Christina Giannone! Their commitment shows you what this association is made up of. We live and breathe this industry, and I’m confident that the leadership we have at all levels will be unwavering for many years to come. The following pages are filled with people and companies that achieved the peak of excellence with their respective projects, and who have individually earned special recognition for their remarkable work in support of OHBA’s 27 local chapters and the home-building industry as a whole. We couldn’t have done it without our many sponsors. We couldn’t have done it without our dedicated staff. We couldn’t have done it without you! Thank you for your excellence, your passion and your continuing commitment to Ontario’s homebuilding industry. I am so excited for the future and can’t wait to see what we can achieve as a united team. OHB

Making a Connection OHBA Annual Conference and Awards provided a new level of education and inspiration for attendees BY TED M C INTYRE, EDITOR
“So, what do you do? Can you fill out a square out here?” I received this inquiry at least 12 times during the Building Connections BBQ lunch at this year’s OHBA Annual Conference and Awards of Distinction at Collingwood’s Blue Mountain Resort. It was during a bingo cardtype function of this meet-andgreet-style luncheon, where players circulated from patio table to table, seeking out fellow attendees to autograph the appropriate box on their card, from “AoD nominee” to “OHBA board member” to “Smallvolume builder” and a variety of ohba.ca
@onhomebuilder
portfolios in between. Those who successfully filled out their cards were eligible for prizes donated by OHBA member companies. It was an inventive way to encourage everyone present to discover what others did for a living while making potential business connections along the way. Alas, there was no checkable box for my vocation. “Sorry, I’m just media. You don’t need me. But do you see that lady over there? She’s a nominee. And that guy there? He’s on the board of directors.” The BBQ event was among several dynamic networking opportunities
for visiting OHBA members from across the province—all kicking off with an opening reception atop Blue Mountain at Off-Piste Pavilion, overlooking Georgian Bay. The conference offered other options to explore the resort village, facilities and surrounding landscape, including treatments at Scandinave Spa and a hike and wine excursion along the Bruce Trail. The daytime programming, meanwhile—curated based upon member requests—brought in new content and speakers for the Sept. 17-19 conference, with expert-led seminars covering a wealth of educational and professional development topics. Innovation and sustainability were front and centre, including the Innovation Gauntlet, presented by EnerQuality. In this exciting Dragon’s Den-style competition manufacturers presented unique solutions to optimize the 11 AWARDS OF DISTINCTION 2023 | ONTARIO HOME BUILDER
CONFER ENCE OVERVIE W high-performance new construction and renovation industry, with the audience voting for its favourite presentation. But the primary motivation for OHBA members extended far beyond, ‘What’s new?’ “Sure, there are seminars and instruction, but you learn from each other too,” explained Alan Churchill, Senior Executive of Land Acquisition at Guelph-based Fusion Homes. “The members are very forthcoming. They share experiences, information and their struggles—their wins and losses. Nobody knows the rhythm of the street as much as the guys on the street. “Many of my contacts have been through the local, provincial and national events like this,” Churchill continued. “I met Golden Windows’ (sales manager) Rick Caravaggio here back in the day. Blackjet Inc. is another example. They’ve been doing our design and marketing for a few years now. I met them here and at the CHBA conference. When you see a company’s work and get to meet the principals face to face…that’s valuable. I could go on and on. And it’s important to get a glimpse of the market and of what’s coming down. This is the epicentre of where you get that information.” That was certainly a main draw for Michael Di Mascio, Business Development Manager at NGEN Communications. “It’s good to have your finger on the pulse of the industry—Ontario specifically,” said Di Mascio, a 10-year OHBA member making his first appearance at the conference. “It also helps us to shepherd our clients. For example, I’d never met Doug Tarry, who is building net-zero homes, and many of our builders want to get to his kind of level.” For Ottawa’s Feddie Osman of Reliance Home Comfort, a sponsor at this year’s event, it was mostly about giving back. “The value for us is being in front of people who support you,” Osman said. “They’re buying your product and using your services, and we need to give back to that community and OHBA. You’re always increasing connections too—meeting new people, learning what’s what. And if you ONTARIO HOME BUILDER | AWARDS OF DISTINCTION 2023 12
“A lot of my contacts have been through the local, provincial and national events like this.” don’t come, you don’t know who you don’t know.” Back at the BBQ lunch, newly christened OHBA President Dave Depencier was checking off boxes of a different kind—the reasons why attending the Annual Conference and similar functions have paid massive dividends for his career. “It’s not just productdriven; it’s the business items and other things I’ve learned so much about,” noted Depencier moments after conversing with a potential supplier. “You meet these people and become friends. It’s not about coming here because you’re going to sell stuff. It’s building relationships—that’s where the trust and connections build from. Whether or not we need products or services that others here offer, these
are great spaces to meet and build relationships organically.” And what of companies that don’t think it’s worth the time and money to become a member and attend conferences such as this? “It’s the biggest mistake you can ever make,” Depencier says with conviction. “Even me—I wasn’t part of a family business handed down to me where I clearly had people to learn from. This Ontario Home Builders’ Association network—these are the people I have learned from and continue to learn from. It’s my free university, my lifelong friends. Having people to lean on, to ask questions about how they handle certain things like clients, pre-delivery inspections, products they’re using—for me, there’s just no price tag you can place on that.” OHB ohba.ca

13 AWARDS OF DISTINCTION 2023 | ONTARIO HOME BUILDER
ASSOCIATION AWAR DS
Finnigan Recognized for a Lifetime of Achievement BY TED McINTYRE
Throughout two nights in September, the Ontario Home Builders’ Association handed out more than 50 awards to honour member excellence in multiple fields. But four were reserved for people who have truly woven themselves into the very fabric of the association. Bob Finnigan topped the list with OHBA’s prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, which honours an individual who has made significant contributions to the Association and Ontario’s residential construction industry. In the early 1980s, after graduating from Ryerson University, Bob began his professional career as a real estate analyst before returning to the homebuilding industry under the mentorship of industry legend Hugh Heron. Since 1988, Bob has been an integral partner at Herity, and in 2020 was named president of Heathwood Homes, a partnership of Herity and Daniels Financial. Finnigan served as president at all three HBA levels, beginning with BILD (2007-2008), where he played a pivotal role in the merger between ohba.ca
@onhomebuilder
Greater Toronto HBA and Ontario Urban Development Institute, helping develop the name BILD. “During his tenure (as OHBA president in 2010-11), OHBA worked diligently to ensure fair and balanced technical analyses for the forthcoming Ontario Building Code,” OHBA President Dave Depencier observed. “He also championed provincial consultation on a longterm affordable housing strategy that resulted in more accessible options for secondary suites—all while skillfully navigating potential inclusionary zoning policies that could have substantially increased housing costs. But Bob’s advocacy extended beyond the code and policies. He was at the forefront of addressing critical concerns, such as the Province’s approach to HST on new homes, the review of conservation authorities, tackling the WSIB unfunded liability and shaping the provincial policy statement. Further, his active involvement on the Tarion board of directors until 2020 attests to his dedication to maintaining our industry’s highest standards of excellence.”
“I am really humbled and honoured to get this award,” Finnigan said on stage. “I got a call from (past president) Bob Schickedanz a few weeks ago, but I was in a meeting so missed it. Then, when I got back to my office, I got a text from Bob saying, ‘It’s important. Please call me.’ And I thought, ‘Oh crap. What’s happened now?!’” Of course, it was only good news from Bob. Humbling news, in fact. “When you care about the industry, and have the opportunity and ability to help, you just do it, and that’s how I’ve always been,” Finnigan says. “From GTHBA to OHBA to CHBA to Tarion and everything in between, it’s been an honour to participate and help wherever possible. The best part of the ride has been meeting and learning from (people in this industry), and I know I will continue to do that. And I have been extremely lucky—I’ve had Hugh Heron. He has been my business partner for over 35 years. He has more passion for the home building industry than anyone I know. “The year I was OHBA president was particularly memorable since it was that very unfortunate year that we lost (OHBA CEO) David Horton and, a few months later, (BILD CEO) Stephen Dupuis. Those were two amazing individuals and a huge reason I got involved and stayed involved. They lived and breathed the industry. But their legacy is what the associations are all about. We’re all a team of smart, talented and driven people—all with our areas of expertise and experience— who can provide the messaging and delivery to various levels of government of what we think are the best solutions on all the issues that are vital to the industry and, most important, to the homebuyers. “When I was six or seven, my grandfather asked me what I wanted to do for a living,” Finnigan recalls. “At the time, I wanted to be a pilot. He said to me, ‘People have to eat and they have to live somewhere. Get into one of those two industries and there will always be work. He was right. People will always need a roof over their heads, and we will all get it built.” OHB 15 AWARDS OF DISTINCTION 2023 | ONTARIO HOME BUILDER

Emotional Collins-Williams Moved by David Horton Executive Officer Award Although celebrating his 20th anniversary with OHBA, Mike CollinsWilliams seems to have aged in dog years, with nary a silver hair to show for his tenure. But his contributions to OHBA would already suggest someone nearing retirement. In a hugely popular choice during the President’s Gala at Blue Mountain Resort, Collins-Williams was presented the David Horton Award, which honours the legacy of the former OHBA Executive Officer who passed away in 2011 after more than 25 years of service. The award is presented to a deserving Association staff member who has exemplified Horton’s leadership qualities and commitment to the Association. CollinsWilliams, Chief Executive Officer of the West End Home Builders’ Association (WEHBA), joined OHBA in July 2003 as an urban planning graduate. Under the leadership of Horton, Collins-Williams played a critical role in OHBA’s advocacy and policy priorities. In 2020, he assumed WEHBA’s CEO role and ONTARIO HOME BUILDER | AWARDS OF DISTINCTION 2023 16
has revitalized and positioned this local as a prominent leader in the HBA network. “Michael found his way into the home building association network as OHBA’s newest policy analyst,” OHBA’s new president, Dave Depencier, noted during the ceremony. “Guided by the mentorship of David himself, he began a transformative journey, climbing the ranks from a policy analyst to manager of government relations, director of policy, and senior director of planning and policy. In late 2020, he made the difficult decision to take the helm at a local chapter. Following in the footsteps of David as Executive Officer, drawing upon his exceptional leadership skills and deep industry knowledge, Michael led WEHBA to new heights. But his dedication doesn’t stop there. He consistently goes above and beyond for his local membership and is always willing to lend a helping hand to fellow EOs across the province. Furthermore, he’s co-chair of OHBA Advocacy Coordination Table, making
substantial contributions to the Association’s goals and objectives. His remarkable journey, dedication and commitment to our association and industry inspires us all.” “I don’t think it’s possible to convey how much this particular award really means to me,” Collin-Williams observed. “I owe my entire career, the success I’ve had, and the many friends I’ve made along the way to David. Way back in 2003, David Horton took a chance on a young punk kid with pink streaks in his hair coming straight out of planning school with no real-world work experience, and he hired me for an entry-level position as a policy analyst at OHBA. David was truly OHBA’s Rock of Gibraltar. He had these sayings, like ‘There’s no free lunch at OHBA,’ and ‘90% of what you worry about never happens.’ He gave me incredible opportunities to learn and grow both as a person and as a professional. He was my mentor. This is the only award I’ll ever care about, because it’s about David.” OHB
Renfroe OHBA Member of Year Exemplifying the core value of members supporting members, David Renfroe of Renfroe Land Management was presented with the Member of the Year award for his outstanding commitment to the association. Renfroe has significantly contributed to the residential construction industry, OHBA and his home local, the Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association. As Chair of OHBA’s Builder Developer Council (BDC), he has been instrumental in advocating for ways to spur housing construction in Ontario—playing a significant role in advocating for and achieving wins in streamlining approvals processes and implementing land-use planning changes. “OHBA is made up of members who volunteer thousands of hours ohba.ca
@onhomebuilder
ASSOCIATION AWAR DS for the greater good of our industry. To be recognized by my peers, I am beyond grateful and humbled to be honoured as OHBA’s Member of the Year,” says Renfroe, who is proud of BDC’s work during his tenure there. “The council has worked tirelessly this past year to promote housing policy that reduces red tape and helps build more housing. BDC identified housing issues, formulated policy proposals and proactively tabled solutions for government. I’m most proud of the comradery, synergy and proactive attitude that BDC members initiated with the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing to promote an OHBA ‘One Voice’ approach.” OHB
Windsor-Essex Takes HBA of the Year With 27 locals (and a membership entailing more than 4,000), it’s hard to pick just one Local of the Year. But Windsor-Essex Home Builders’ Association (WEHBA) has been on a particular roll, experiencing accelerated growth, reflecting the enthusiasm and commitment of residential construction professionals within its region. “Vince Lapico told me that when he took over as WEHBA president, there were only 30 members. Now, we’re up to 80, with a goal of 100+ by January,” says WEHBA Executive Officer Melissa Schenk, who ohba.ca

accepted the award alongside Lapico and other members of their local at the OHBA President’s Gala. “I became EO in February and have the privilege to work with the board of directors. They’re dedicated to success. They roll their sleeves up, as do I, and do the work. Everyone is a team player. Items atop the checklist began with aligning the board so that board members were part of committees they enjoy and want to be a part of—be it governance, municipal liaison, Awards of Distinction, golf tournaments, etc.—so that people want to organize
events. Some want to work on the ethics and community relationships of our members. For me, it’s about bringing out everyone’s strengths. “I started from ground zero and needed to learn as much as possible about membership and members,” Schenk says. “The value of membership is key to me. Owning a marketing agency for 25 years (MS2 Productions), I am all about branding and connecting the dots. We’ve implemented new sponsorship programs and campaigns that put our members at the forefront and spotlight them within the community. We recently launched a program called Parade of Homes, a video series that members pay to be a part of, where I bring a film crew and we interview the business owners about what they do. I truly love this! The series appeals to everyone from builders to subtrades, professionals and suppliers. You learn so much about the business. I learned a pile about our member WindsorEssex Habitat for Humanity. They have one of the best ReStores in the country. For example, they have a repair department for kitchen cabinets or other items. So when items are brought in, they can refurbish and resell them. “I’m also EO in Perth-Huron, where we’ve implemented many of the same things,” Schenk continues. “In both cases, we make changes when needed as we grow and evolve.” OHB 17 AWARDS OF DISTINCTION 2023 | ONTARIO HOME BUILDER

Architectural features include 10’x10’ doors and multiple balconies with floating glass systems. The kitchen is an oasis of natural light, with three skylights and a remarkable three-ply glass ceiling. NATURE IN HARMONY…AND ON A BUDGET
Given its opening during the COVID-19 pandemic, the innovative decision to integrate air and water purification units made Pratt Homes’ Elements Condominiums community stand out. Biophilic design principles, including green roof features over the entrance and parapets, increase homeowners’ connectivity to the natural environment. Since the building caters to buyers seeking affordable home options, the construction budget was allocated to make the most of select amenities. That includes the front entrance ‘cube’ feature, which supports the community brand for Elements Condominiums, providing space to incorporate the four natural elements of water, fire, earth and air—from a large mature tree and live moss design pieces in the foyer to a floor-to-ceiling waterfall, to the oversized linear feature fireplace.

The latter, which offers direct access to the street and provides a smooth, organic flow between public and private spaces, has become a social hub for this exclusive rental community and nearby residents. The team’s close work with local experts and family descendants helped them earn a 2022 ‘Heritage Award’ from the municipality. Capitalizing on the available space and surroundings, the cherished old-fashioned charm and detail that define the house’s character were seamlessly blended with modern upgrades like spray foam insulation, high-efficiency windows and doors, HVAC systems and a state-of-theart water filtration system. Previously cluttered with several small rooms, the walls between the living room, dining room, kitchen and sitting room were removed, allowing for a stunning open living area for clients who love entertaining. A connection to the outdoors was then achieved through 40’ of continuous floor-to-ceiling windows and the glass-encased primary bedroom— all while respecting the ’60s architecture. ALL ABOARD!
Once known as Newry Station, the hamlet of Atwood was settled as far back as 1854. Today, most of its residents work in the busy commercial centres of Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph and Stratford. Keeping that history in mind, Reid’s message is “All Aboard! Embrace the beauty and tranquillity of Atwood with the luxury of a newhome build in a charming community.” The steam engine train logo pays homage to the small-town charm yet still feels modern and current. The website’s animation includes a map showcasing surrounding amenities and driving times for the target market of first-time buyers, empty nesters and retirees. Atwoodstation.ca

CALM, COOL AND RELAXED
The taglines “A breath of fresh air” and “The feeling of home” evoke the enviable emotions that one feels at home with their family while also bringing in the freshness and natural elements found at Mountainview’s Fieldstone community in Thorold. Messaging spoke to beautiful, timeless living in a tranquil, welcoming neighbourhood surrounded by nature and greenspaces, but with the required amenities nearby. The ad’s linen background imbues that warm, natural feel with complementing photos and a natural colour palette. A mix of social media, blogs, video and print—including local newspapers—were used in this hugely successful campaign, which saw 57 contracts signed of the available 67 units during the launch weekend!

With the final phases of Soleil launching in early to mid-2022, Mattamy’s engaging ad campaign identified two targets. For the primary target of investors, ads explained why buying into Soleil was a vibrant opportunity in smart-home, greenspace-surrounded living, backed by North America’s largest home builder. Other ads appealed to first-time homebuyers, telling a day-in-the-life story that included some of the fantastic things residents can do in the Soleil community. A series of ads running across Instagram, Facebook and Google included images of Milton and Soleil renderings merged with motion graphics and animated type.

THE NATURAL CHOICE
This multi-phased community needed a name big enough to gain a foothold in the Barrie market. TERRA was an ideal choice. It spoke to the abundant nature of this four-season destination, with a treed logo surrounding and interacting with the bold orange typeface, referencing nature’s infusion into the community. The branded headlines always began with “Welcome to a land,” tying back to the project’s name, with graphic elements and images changing with the seasons. The online campaign delivered premium traffic and registrants at an unprecedented $2.66 cost per acquisition—$53 lower than the industry average.

AMEXON CONNECTS THE DOTS
Amexon’s efforts to connect residents with nature at The Residences of Central Park clearly connected with voters of the 2023 People’s Choice Award. Based upon the finalists for the OHBA Project of the Year (Lowand High-/Mid-Rise), with OHBA members and the public welcome to vote for a winner after finalists were announced in early August, Central Park—like its views—impressed from every angle. Nestled between East Don Parkland’s protected ravine and one of the city’s hip neighbourhoods, the development is a vibrant nexus focused on wellness with multiple sustainable features. The 12-acre, master-planned community connects urban conveniences—elegant restaurants, sought-after retail, major highways and public transit—to a network of beautiful nature trails, with its towers oriented to maximize residents’ views of the adjacent East Don Parklands and the shared green space of Central Park Common (a landscaped three-acre urban park at the centre of the community featuring fountains, reflecting pools, tree-lined streets and bicycle paths). To drink it all in, all suites are designed with floor-to-ceiling windows, flow-through floor plans and oversized balconies. Year-round social programming ranges from a farmers’ market to a skating rink. Inside, the wellness-focused The Park Club—55,000 SF of amenities that include indoor and outdoor saltwater pools, a spa, recreational lounges and fully equipped fitness spaces with panoramic windows overlooking the adjacent ravine—complements rooftop terraces that allow residents to swim and sunbathe, barbecue or relax in a Zen Garden.

Northshore’s seven-storey height provides excellent views of Burlington G&CC and Lake Ontario beyond for many residents with south-facing units. Generous balconies and a rooftop terrace make the most of the outdoor space, as does keeping amenity spaces inside of the L-shaped building, which allows for a private courtyard where the parkette and pet area are located, which in turn leads to the townhomes on the property. A finalist in the High- or Mid-Rise Ad Campaign category, Northshore’s mixeduse makeup adds infrastructure for the neighbourhood and residential units. Each floor has a storage area for residents to stow large items like strollers securely. Further convenience is provided by having a dog wash station and a mail room close to the entrance. The exterior features projected panels and modern metals, with dark brick at ground level, lightening as it rises to present a more harmonious streetscape. Inside, the design reflects much of the branding, with neutrals and earthy tones paired with rich blues for a sophisticated, modern look, with unique features such as stunning floor-to-ceiling spandrel window and wall systems. Seeking LEED certification upon completion, the design also includes a 20’ buffer zone of greenspace to separate the project from the rest of the city. RUNNERS-UP
Amsted Design-Build (Ottawa)
Accubuilt Construction Ltd.
A HIGH FIVE FOR AMSTED
If they handed out rings instead of crystal trophies, Amsted Design-Build would officially have a handful of Ontario Renovator of the Year honours. The Ottawa-based firm was a finalist for Home Renovation up to $250,000, with both runner-up entries in the Kitchen Renovation flight at this year’s Awards of Distinction in Collingwood. That consistency of excellence across the board, as well as its company-wide focus on giving back to the communities in which it works, propelled Amsted to its unprecedented fifth OHBA Ontario Renovator of the Year award since first entering in 2015. Amsted’s ‘people-first’ philosophy shows in its website gallery of 46 staff—each with playful secondary images embedded, listing only their first names and surname initials. Why take the time to participate every year? “Because it’s a clear demonstration to our team that we’re proud of the work they do and it honours the trust our clients gave us in helping them build their dreams,” says Marketing and HR Manager Stephanie Haw. “Every year I get to be the one to share the gorgeous results of the dedication and collaboration of our team, trade partners and clients. And when we’re named a finalist or a winner, it shows the success of this synergy. That’s something we can all get excited about! Being named a finalist or winner of Renovator of the Year is particularly rewarding because it’s truly an award that encompasses everything that makes a company who they are. Nothing is left out in the judging process, from sales and marketing excellence to the ability to innovate, community service and leadership in the industry.” ONTARIO HOME BUILDER | AWARDS OF DISTINCTION 2023 80

IMPROVING THE STANDARD OF LIVING
(Woodbridge)
Currently constructing Net Zero and Net Zero Ready homes in its Trails of Lily Lake community, Peterborough-based Dietrich Homes is committed to embracing green initiatives to enhance the lives of Ontario homebuyers. An active member of the Peterborough & Kawartha’s Home Builders’ Association, attracting new members and fostering industry growth, Dietrich prides itself on engaging its staff in brainstorming initiatives to formulate optimal business practices. That includes discussions with HCRA and Tarion in forming Dietrich’s own set of standards to live and work by. Provincially, they are also a member of the WSIB Health and Safety Excellence program. “We have worked diligently in rebranding our company to represent one of the most forward-thinking, quality, luxury home builders in Ontario,” says owner Paul Dietrich, whose firm features a newly designed website, strategic social media campaign and Google ad campaign to help them connect with buyers outside of its local area who are relocating to a more budget-friendly community. Green initiatives include using sustainable materials to reduce carbon, water, energy and waste—third party tested/rated and proven to exceed the Ontario Building Code by at least 30%. Working with vendors, Dietrich also contributes annually to the Kawartha Food Share and local Youth Emergency Shelter (YES) and has participated in a youth co-op program with its local high school. ohba.ca

With more than 39,000 homes in its 39 years of business, Daniels has built a reputation for being a fully inclusive, vertically integrated community builder/developer by creating lasting, vibrant, healthy communities. Its legacy of impact was built long before corporate social responsibility, environmental and social governance, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals became buzzwords. A supporter of over 30 organizations including Second Harvest, Daniels boasts a 24-year-long partnership with Habitat for Humanity GTA and is active in multiple industry organizations, including RESCON’s Anti-Racism Roundtable. Daniels, which hosts homeownership workshops to explain every component of the home-buying process, has regularly recieved of Tarion’s High-Rise Builder of the Year, recognizing excellence in customer care through a survey of Ontario’s homebuyers. On the efficiency front, its efforts range from space-saving furniture designs to fossil fuel-free townhomes to its newly released comprehensive Decarbonization Roadmap.
