The "Light Dance" project (left), was a 1st year project that was intended to teach the significance of line weights and shadows in order to allow the observer the ability to easily read a 3 dimensional object on a 2 dimensional surface.
The "Carve In" project was a 2nd year project that was supposed to show how to work with contours and create important nodes and pathways to connect those nodes. By literally craving into the modeled material the design could be felt and simultaneously evolve. This idea of designing with pen, paper, and trace as well as the practical effect of working with the actual model provided insight as to the benefit of such techniques in future designs.
