This was my final project in my professional program and it brought everything I know to the table. The project used a program provided to us by a Mid-rise wood structure completion. The idea was to erect a mid-rise building whose structure would implement a new innovative wooden structural technique. I chose and studied CLT wooden panels. They are structural, easy to design with, easy to erect and assemble with fewer workers, sustainable, fire resistant and weather proof. I designed multiple pods to stack onto one another on top of various programmatic components which structure used Glulam columns and beams to account for an open floor plan on the bottom floors. The program called for a wood production area, digital production area, bike shop, and housing (studios, 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments).
