Program Objectives Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction ODU’s Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction is designed to enhance the knowledge, skills and dispositions of licensed, practicing teachers. The program does not lead to initial licensure. Developed to meet the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession, ODU’s program includes a required portfolio experience that emphasizes putting theory into practice. Elective courses allow the addition of endorsement or licensure areas to explore other topics..

Master of Education in Educational Leadership

Teacher Leader Endorsement The Teacher Leader Endorsement will be added to your professional teaching license once you complete an approved Teacher Leader Endorsement preparation program. ODU’s program fulfills a need in Ohio to prepare individuals to serve as teacher leaders, both in formal and informal roles within their building and district. Teacher leaders assist principals in developing and supporting a shared vision and clear goals for schools, and provide staff development, mentoring and coaching to teachers. ODU’s Teacher Leader Endorsement program also facilitates support of the new Ohio Teacher Licensure as one of the current routes to the top license on a career lattice – the Lead Professional Educator License. (must have a master’s degree)

The Master of Education in Educational Leadership addresses the knowledge, skills and dispositions needed to meet the challenges of serving in leadership positions in the increasingly complex environments of pre-K through 12 schools. ODU’s program meets the requirements for a Principal Licensure program in the State of Ohio and is designed for educators who aspire to serve as principals, assistant principals, athletic directors, supervisors and dean of students in pre-K through 12 settings. A hallmark of ODU’s program is the inclusion of courses that specifically address the administration of programs to meet the needs of all students. An Intervention Specialist licensure can be added with only 10 additional credit hours.

Early Childhood Generalist Endorsement

Tesol Endorsement

Intervention Specialist Licensure

ODU’s TESOL Endorsement was developed to meet the growing demand for teachers of English to speakers of other languages (TESOL). Ohio Dominican’s program helps candidates develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to teach English learners (ELs). The endorsement is multi-age in that it qualifies holders to teach from pre-K to grade 12, and it may be added to any existing license.

Application fee waived for ODU graduates.

The Ohio Department of Education created an Early Childhood Generalist Endorsement to enable Early Childhood (pre-K through three) License holders to meet additional requirements that broaden the scope of their license so they can teach fourth and fifth grades. This endorsement may be added only to an Early Childhood License.

Reading Endorsement A Reading Endorsement may be added to any standard teaching license, including Early Childhood, Middle Childhood, Intervention Specialist, Adolescence to Young Adult (AYA), and Multi-Age Licenses.

Ohio Dominican’s Intervention Specialist Licensure program is designed for licensed teachers who want to add the Intervention Specialist license to their teaching credentials. Mild to moderate and/or moderate to intensive.
