Honey Soap Making - Good Enough to Eat!

Honey is nothing less than a miracle. Nectar is collected from flowers by bees. It is taken back to the hive and then the worker bees work their magic and you get wonderful, thick honey soap rich in moisture and sweetness.

Honey has been used for centuries, primarily by women, in baths and to wash their hair and is well documented for keeping the skin moisturised and hair shiny. Honey is a remarkable liquid that has both healing and soothing powers, along with moisturizing properties. Because honey is a humectant, meaning it naturally attracts moisture to itself and has good retention, this honey soaps itself very well to soap making. Produces a wonderful bar of moisturizing soap with a light, warm sweet scent. The high sugar content in honey also makes for a wonderful creamy lather.

You can buy melt and pour bases with honey already included, and you can add honey to any love the combination of honey and citrus because the color and smell are wonderfully warm and inviting and when the soap is formulated to look like a piece of honeycomb, you feel like eating a big slice of it!

Sweet Citrus Honey Soap

Ingredients:

• 180 grams of lard

• 270 grams of coconut oil

• 90 grams of castor oil

• 90 grams of shea butter

• 1 tsp orris root powder

• 18 grams of beeswax

• 2 tsp liquid honey

• 3 tsps sweet orange essential oil

• 3 tsps oz grapefruit essential oil

• 3 tsps lemon essential oil

Line the bottom of a soap mold with a piece of bubble wrap with the bubbles facing up. Cut another piece to place on top of the poured soap. Melt the beeswax with the hard oils and then add honey and orris root to it.

Make Honey soap as usual for any hot process soap

Mix the essential oils and add them when the mixture becomes light.

Pour the Honey soap into the prepared mold when the mixture is at the middle mark. Place the remaining piece of bubble wrap on top, bubbles facing down, and press gently.
