OEC Foundation Board Grants $62,000 to Local Organizations, Families

The OEC Foundation, Inc. board of directors met June 13 to review applications submitted by individuals and organizations for the Operation Round Up® (ORU) program. A total of $62,969.61 was approved for disbursement to 17 organizations and families.

MobileSmiles Oklahoma received $10,000 to provide dental care to those who are uninsured across OEC's service area. The board also granted $10,000 each to the Norman Lions Club for its eye exam and glasses program, and Transition House in Norman for personal essentials for clients in its transitional living program.

Other grant recipients included United Way of Norman ($8,000 for ABC School Supplies program), Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma ($6,000 for Food for Kids Backpack program), Society of St. Vincent de Paul, South Central District ($5,000 to purchase beds for outreach mission) and the Pioneer Library System Foundation ($1,000 for children's books as part of its summer reading program).

Ten individuals received grants that will provide dentures, eye exams and glasses, roof repair, flooring and general household items.

ORU is made possible by the thousands of OEC members who choose to round up their electric bills to the nearest dollar each month. Applications — individual and organizational — are available at www. okcoop.org/ORU.

Applications submitted by July 26 will be reviewed at the next meeting, scheduled for Aug. 15. Contact Education and Outreach Programs Director Tory Tedder-Loffland at ORU@okcoop.org or 405-217- 6726 for questions regarding the program or application process.
