OEC Hosts Statewide Co-op Safety Training
OEC in June played host to 15 different co-ops as a training site for the Rural Electric Safety Achievement Program (RESAP). The program, along with many practices, helps promote a safe workplace and culture. Essentially, it is a safety health check.
During the training, 40 safety and loss control professionals inspected OEC's housekeeping, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, truck bins, lighting, etc. The complete facility inspection identifies potential areas of improvement as well as rewards for areas that are above and beyond the standards set by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. Electric co-ops are inspected every three years by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association to ensure maximum measures are being taken to conduct a safe workplace. The RESAP training helped prepare the co-ops in attendance for the annual inspection.
