WFEC GENERATION REPORT
Six linemen achieve journeyman status
E
lectric linework consistently ranks as one of the most dangerous jobs, and it's why safety is OEC's top priority year after year. It takes knowledge and skill to do the work of a lineman — especially in Oklahoma's ever-changing weather conditions. OEC's board of trustees and management are proud to announce the six linemen who recently completed the journeyman certification program. Tim Gilbert Brent Glover Nate Hulse

Throughout the last four years, they have studied their craft intently — both in the classroom and in the field. They have studied and passed exams and trained over 8,000 hours to ensure they are safely providing our members with reliable electric service. They join a crop of previously certified journeyman linemen who answer the call no matter the time of day or weather conditions to restore power to member-consumers across our seven-county service area. Congratulations to all of the newest journeyman linemen.

Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC), OEC's wholesale generation and transmission power provider, has an impressive renewable portfolio that includes wind, hydro and — recently added — solar. OEC's Solar Garden, located at Interstate 35 and Highway 77 in Norman, began producing power in February 2017, and Tuttle's 40-acre Solar Farm began operation in March 2017. As more solar facilities come online, expect to see it added to WFEC's generation report, increasing the already robust mix of renewable energy sources.
