To Oklahoma City with Perennial Love

Lilian Meador

“I seem to have acquired a permanent love affair with Oklahoma City as I grew up there,” Ralph Meador wrote in one of his many letters to the Community Foundation that outlined his passion for beautification in Oklahoma City.

Naming the Margaret Annis Boys Trust as his inspiration, Meador established the Lilian Frances Watts Meador Fund in 1996, dedicating it to the planting and maintenance of perennial hyacinth bulbs to honor his mother’s memory and beautify the city in perpetuity.

Following Meador’s death in 2017, a gift in his estate expanded the fund’s support of beautification projects throughout Oklahoma City. Through the Community Foundation’s stewardship, his passions, so eloquently conveyed through his letters, will continue to bring beauty to the community.
