Architectural Styles from 1700 Riley Degner
Georgian
A Georgian home was popular between the 1700’s-1780’s. These homes are elegant and contain a blanced design. They often contain symmetrical windows and contrasting materials.
Federal
A Federal home was popular between the 1780’s-1830’s. These homes are usually made from brick and are shapped like a rectangular box. They are often 2-3 stories high and 2 rooms deep. They most likley contain chimneys and have shutters on the windows.
Greek Revival
Greek revival homes are most likely light in color and contain large pediments. They usually contain large pillars in the front of the house. Look kind of like the white house.
Italianate
Italianate homes usually have spanish looking vibes. Contains low/flat roofs. As well as cornice structures, and arch-headed pediment and windows
Victorian
Victorian homes are usually a range in colors and fancy designs. There are slopes on all sides, mansard roofing, and decorative windows. Not very common now-a-days, maybe in old towns.
Colonial Revival
Colonial Revival homes are a mix of the federal style homes and the salt box homes. Most likely nuetral in color, Very symetrical and sometimes contains shutters on windows.
Prairie
Prairie homes were created by Frank Wright, they were popular around 1900’s-1920’s. Natural colors that relate to nature. Contain large rectangular windows and earthy structure.
Craftsman
The Craftsman home contains a mixture of roofs and textures. Most likely contains light, cool colors. Contains a front porch.
Ranch
The Ranch home was made for the purpose of having a family. They are one story homes and come in a variety of colors. Ranches usually consist of this type of home.
Shed
The Shed style home was popular in the 1960’s. It contains random and unigue roofing as you can see in the pictures. They come in a variety of colors and textures.
A-Frame
A-Frame homes are shaped like the letter “A�. They contain a lot of windows and big spaces. They are not good family homes.
Geodesic
Geodesic homes have a domed shape roof. When designing they have very flexible floor plans. Plus there is no need to have interior walls.
