A-Frame An A-frame home is easily recognized by their a shaped roofs with steeply angled sides. This kind of house is good for places with a lot of snow because the roof doesn’t let the snow sit on the roof. This home is not good for a large family because typically there is not a lot of space. Most houses in the mountains will have this style.


Craftsmen Craftsman homes are very common today and modern. There are lots of triangle shapes and open porches. These were the most popular in the 1905-1930 and the late part of the 20th century. These homes are great for raising a family in because of how the room are typically placed nd the storys


Shed

Shed homes have distinctive multiple roofs the slant down in different directions and big windows. This design came from the architects Willard Moore and Robert Venturi in the 1960s. Shed style architecture became very popular in the 1970s and 1980s.


Federal

Federal homes are a very simple symmetrical square shaped houses. They have around 2-3 stories and 2-3 windows per story all evenly spaced. This style was most popular from 1785-1815 during the “federalist period�in the new found America.


Geodestric A geodesic home is very easily spotted because the roof is a big dome. This is typically used to hold in warmth.the roof dome shape is usually arrays of triangles that form three-or five-eighths of a geodesic sphere. This home is stronger, lighter, and easier to build than a normal home


Ranch The ranch house is a one story house typically takes an L shape or a U. They will typically have a big long porch running down the side of the house and a great home to raise a family. These homes are still very common now in suburban areas.


Greek Greek houses are very symmetrical and there staple is big columns on the wide open porch. These houses were most popular during 1820-1850. Typically above the pillars at the top of the house is a triangle shape.


Victorian Victorian houses are very detailed homes. They typically will have turrets and towers,porches and verandas, bay windows, and small chimneys. The trim around the house is often decorated with carved spindles or gingerbread cut-outs etc. This was seen often from 1845-1900.


Prarie Prairie houses are recognized as lots of horizontal lines, flat roofs, outreached overhangs, and lots of windows. This style was most popular during the late 19th century and early 20th century. Famous architects like Fredrick Robie and Frank lioid created lots of homes like this.


Georgian Georgian houses are easily identified by their perfectly symmetrical design. Typically made out of bricks, rocks, etc. This style was most popular during 1714-1830. This kind of architecture was brought in from england.


Italianate Italianate houses have rigid roofs slanted down that normally have orange-terracotta roofing. Because of how the roofing is shaped it greatly reduces the chances of rain water coming in and water damage. This style was popular between 1840-1885.
