Architectural Styles From 1700


Georgian The Georgian style home is evidently elegant and directed towards wealthier people. The front of the home has a fancy appeal, and the building remains around 2-3 floors.


Federal The Federal style home’s front is somewhat less decorative than the previous style, Georgian, yet it remains directed towards those with a fancy taste. They are usually founfd with shutters on the windows, columns beside the door, and 2-3 floors.


Greek Revival The Greek Revival style is based around the ancient style Greeks/Romans used to construct their buildings. These homes most definatley have columns, shutters, and a triangle roof.


Italianate The Italianate style has a somewhat elegant appeal. These structures have flat roofs, this is the base of the entire style. Overall, the style is simplistic, yet decorative.


Victorian The Victorian style is evidently one of the most complex styles. These homes consist o designs on the exterior, columns, and various shapes of the structure


Colonial Revival The Colonial Revival style on the basic side of these designs. The homes usually have protruding windows, shutters, and columns beside the doors.


Prarie

The Prarie style is designed to resemble/fit into nature. The numerous windows, textures on the exterior, and light sources all tie in these homes.


Craftsman The Craftsman style resembles more of a “family� home. The gable roofs, columns, similar windows, and neutral colors all play a part in the appeal of this design


Ranch

The Ranch style home is easily set apart from the others. These homes remain 1 floor, but somewhat resemble the Craftsman style houses.


Shed

The Shed style home is best known for its slanted roofs, which prevent rain, snow, etc from collecting on top of it. The windows are usually large and numerous.


A-Frame

The A-Frame house was designed to have an over slanted gable roof. It is typically not a famiy made home, due to the issue that you cannot add on rooms. The windows play a big role in the overall appeal as well.


Geodesic

The Geodesic style building is commonly used for business. The windows are typically triangular, facing multiple directions. The dome-shaped architecture is undoubtedly unique.
