Streetwear.

S

treetwear may be one of the most talked about things in the fashion industry right now. Kids will spends thousands and wait for hours to buy the latest “drop” from their favorite streetwear brands. The hype of streetwear emerged from the urban skate culture in New York City in the late eighties. This style immediately spread to the west coast and found its place in the surf culture. The style of graphic hoodies, shirts, sneakers, and baseball hats have been a staple look for young skaters and surfers throughout the years. This hype has resurfaced bigger than ever and found its way in the hiphop culture as well. The street wear culture obsess over popular streetwear brands like Supreme and Palace, both some of the original brands that made street wear as popular as it is today. Supreme, a skateboard company founded in New York City creates exclusive clothing items that “drop” online and instore every Thursday. Supreme brings in incredible traffic to their websites and stores when a new line drops. Kids even skip school or work trying to get their favorite tshirts that could sell out in under thirty seconds. Supreme relies

on supply and demand when it comes to shaping their company. The “hypebeast” culture who obsess over having the latest trends can spend over thousands of dollars on single articles of clothings. Others buy and sell and can sell the clothing for almost triples than the original price. Supreme often collabs with other major fashion brands like Louis Vuitton, Champion, Vans and almost any other clothing brand you can think of. These collaborations are usually Supreme’s most famous works and are always talked about in the street wear scene. Hip hop artists add to the hype of this clothing brand by rapping about their company in their songs and posting pictures of them wearing the brand on instagram. Palace, a similar brand but finds most of their hype in London. This brand also collaborates with other high end, popular clothing brands that get bought and sold by the same subculture as supreme. This brand also drops exclusive clothing lines that get sold out in a matter of seconds to the street wear community. Social medias like Instagram, Tumblr, and Twitter go crazy over new lines and drops from these companies. Normal people become famous on instagram by flexing their latest buys from these expensive and exclusive brands. Celebrities like Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Kendall Jenner and Drake are just some of the few that

are often seen or post pictures in brands like Supreme and Palace. They add to they hype, only making supreme more popular for the youth. Less expensive brands and store like Forever 21, H&M and Urban Outfitters also have their own lines of streetwear. Clothing like hoodies, hats, jeans, tracksuits, sneakers and graphic t shirts appeal to the same culture that can’t always afford to buy the 50 dollar t shirts that Supreme and Palace have to offer. These stores specialize in basics that also mimic high end fashion brands but sold at a much lower price that typically appeal to teenagers. Streetwear has been redefined in 2017. This year has been one of the biggest years for the streetwear culture. Not only did the following grow, but the style itself did

too. Streetwear in 2016 would have been defined as loose neutral colored fitting clothes like, loose jeans, tshirt, hats and hoodies worn typically by men. Streetwear was expanded this past year by celebrities like Tyler The Creator, who launched his own line of street wear that included colors like bright yellows and blues. Women have also played a huge part in the growth of streetwear, brining new styles of clothing like skirts, jackets, and bringing to patterns and colors like checkered print, and the color pink. Some may never understand this hype over skate clothing brands and why people choose to spend so much on these companies. But this streetwear brand has been around since the eighties and is forecasted to be a timless style for years to come.

Black On Black.

The trend of season is to wear all black. Black is considered a mourning color and normally worn to funerals. Lately, it has been popping up through more stores and celebrities. Nicole Scherzinger was caught walking down the street in a V-neck black blouse with slim black pants. She paired it with a cheetah print purse and black and white pointed heels. Wearing black on black is so cute and trendy and helps the bigger girls look a bit slender. Having such a mono tone color pallet it’s important to have some texture in each of the clothing pieces. Whether the tops are a thin flowy shirt and a tight black jean, or a button up with some loose pants. You can also add a couple fun colors, white, or browns. Like snake print, black and white combo, or a bright pink. These accent pieces will sure make a statement. I think black and black is bold, dangerous, wild, and I love it. It looks fresh and clean and I think it works for anyone with the right styling tips.

Androgyny. The history, popularity, and extras on androgyny. It is a

combination of masculine and feminine characteristics. It can be expressed in fashion, gender identity, sexual identity, or sexual lifestyle. Let uslook into the history of this interesting subject. Trousers were a big deal back then. They were traditionally a male form of dress and frowned upon for females. They were so frowned upon that female spies in the 1800s would wear trousers for better movement, but expected to have a dress over the top. I would think this would prevent them from doing their job at the best of their abilities. This was a big deal and woman activist jumped on it. They would wear these trousers during protest and riots. Luisa Capetillo, a woman activist, is the first women in Puerto Rico to wear trousers in public. Back then she was one of the more “scandalous” woman. In the 1900s, starting around World War I, traditional gender roles were blurred. Fashion pioneers, such as Paul Poiret and Coco Chanel, introduced these trousers to women fashion once again. Since, they are well-known fashion stylist I feel like people believed it was a big push. The 1900s also introduced the “flapper style.” This era did have those wonderful trousers for women and gave them a chic bob cut. This could be seen as looking androgynous. More and more people began to adopt this style into their attire. We all know how much celebrities and recognizable people influence the society’sfashion, so by dressing more androgynous it helped people take that step into wearing their new and improved wardrobe. During the 1960s and 1970s, the women’s movements, protest, and riots were believed to have contributed to fashion designers choosing a deeper style. For instance, there was the liberation movement, sexual liberation movement and the stonewall riots. A big icon during this period was Elvis Presley. He is considered to be the one who introduced the androgynous style in the rock’n’roll world. Even today when thinking of his look

he wore skintight clothing and eye makeup to make his look pop. The 1960s and 70s brought the expansion of androgynous dressing for men. Mick Jagger wore a white ‘man’s dress.’ It is a white long blouse with ruffles near the collar and trim. By the sound of it, the media went wild. A designer named Michael Fish did this piece and at the time, he was the most fashionable shirt maker in London. The next ten years led to more gender compatible clothing. In 2016, Louise Vuitton revealed the news that Jayden Smith would star in their women’s wear campaign. Being a male, this was undeniably a huge jump for gender roles. When this was revealed this caused the media to strongly discuss gender fluidity. Young actors inspire the movement with their more androgynous looks. Such as Lady Gaga, Ruby Rose, and in Tom Hooper’s film The Danish Girl. The androgyny fashion has been in and out history for a long time. I believe it’s important to show who you are through your clothes and with 2018 approaching it is more acceptable to explorer the world of both genders.

“Androgyny is not trying to manage the relationship between the opposites; it is simply flowing between them.”

Lady Gaga. Lady gaga is an inspiring head-strong woman. She is a song writer, singer, pianist, and many more, I watched her documentary “Gaga: Five Foot Two” and I was really surprised about all the things I learned and didn’t know about her. She lives a very interesting free spirited life. She talks about how she is beginning to feel a lot more comfortable with her body and throughout the film she wears a lot of clothing piece that show her whole figure. I think when people think of celebrities they believe that they are selfish and don’t think of others, but Gaga is very appreciate of her family and the people she is close with. She loves hugging people and after just a few days of being in her house alone she called her parents because she felt lonely in such a big house. Which I think is really important to keep family close which is harder for celebrities. Gaga, also goes through a lot of pain and tighteing in her muscles because of a broken right hip. It’s been about three years and it’s still a constant struggle for her. She talks about getting to that next stage and having kids, but it really scares her to think what will happen to her hip in the process. Her aspiration for life is expressed through this and talking about her struggles and thoughts, but that she will still do whatever is necessary. She said “when you reverence a nod to something in music it’s just like putting something precious

wrapped in plastic in a suitcase that you are going to take in the future.” If you really think about this, it can be very impactful and she was simply just talking to someone and I think it’s really inspiring. How I perceive it as taking something from your past that has a lot of meaning and specialty to you and taking a part of it with you, so you will always have it in the future. Lady Gaga dedicated an album to her aunt “Joanne.” She was her father’s sister who died at the age of 19. Joanne said that she thought that insects were crawling under her skin. At this time period the doctors didn’t understand what was going on with Joanne, and their first reaction was to amputate her hands. Her condition is also known as lupus. This was devastating to the whole family because she was very kind hearted and artistic. Lady Gaga wrote a song especially dedicated to her with in her own album. Her family went through Joanne’s old things finding pictures and paintings. This made the family very emotional and Lady Gaga took it as inspiration for her song and album to commemorate all of what Joanne had to give in the short years that she was with them. With all this Lady Gaga was inspired to throw herself into a documentary and to really connect with her fans and letting them get to know her struggles and accomplishments outside of being just another pop star. If you want to find out more about this amazing check out her documentary “Gaga: Five Foot Two” on Netflix.

Explore the fascinating story of The Coca‑Cola Company in an engaging walk through history. Beginning right here in Atlanta and reaching out to touch the lives of billions around the world, Coca‑Cola is rich in history and expansive in scope. A series of ten galleries brings the rich history of The Coca‑Cola Company to life through exhibits featuring some of its most prized possessions such as a circa 1880s soda fountain, 1939 delivery truck from Argentina and the Coca‑Cola contour bottle. The very first Coca‑Cola was served at a soda fountain like the one found at the beginning of Milestones of Refreshment. Soda fountains were capable of dispensing many differ‑ ent flavors. Coca‑Cola was only one of 16 flavors this fountain offered. This particular soda fountain is actually older than Coca‑Cola and dates back to the early 1880s, which makes it the second oldest artifact in the World of Coca‑Cola. As you journey through the galleries you will notice a Chevrolet Delivery Truck. This 1939 Chevrolet delivery truck came from David Lee, a bottler in Buenos Aires, Argenti‑ na. Due to its large size, the attraction had to be built around the truck in order to fit it. So technically, the truck was actually the very first artifact installed in the new World of Coca‑Cola. While in Mile‑ stones of Refreshment you will also learn more about the beginning of the Coca‑Cola contour bottle. When Co‑ ca‑Cola first started being bottled, there was no such thing as a standard Co‑ ca‑Cola bottle. As the brand began enjoy‑ ing greater and greater commercial suc‑ cess, many companies began trying to copy Coca‑Cola. Lead‑ ers of Coca‑Cola sought to create the distinctive pack‑ aging the product deserved. In 1916, Coca‑Cola debuted the contour bottle which today is one of the most widely recognized brand icons in the world. From the first serving of Coca‑Cola and the creation of the Coca‑Cola bottle to spon‑ sorship of global events like the Olympic Games. Walk through Milestones of Refresh‑ ment and learn how The Coca‑Cola Company grew to be what it is today. In this gallery, you’ll also see more than 1,000 original artifacts, some dating back to the earliest days of Coca‑Cola’s history.

Save Your Skin.

C

lear skin can be achieved by working on your body inside and out. The food you eat could have an influence on how your skin reacts. Products and makeup can always affect the way your skin is reacting. Finding out what is best for your skin can be a bit tricky, but with these few tips you can be on your way to perfect looking skin. Thinking about what you put in your body is one of the most important factors when deciding how to treat your skin. First think about the amount of water you drink. Are you lacking? Water is the best thing for you body, especially your skin. Water keeps your skin clear, moisturized and glowing. Keep a reusable water bottle with you at all times. You can never have enough water, and your skin will sure appreciate it too. Now think about the foods you eat. Dairy and sugar are two of some of the worst foods for your skin. In fact many dermatologists recommend their patients struggling with acne to avoid all dairy products. Sugar can inflame the skin and add redness. Try reducing your sugar intake and see how your skin is treating you. Make an extra effort to eat foods like fish that are packed with vitamin B. Now think about you skin care routine. Many products we use for our skin can cause a bad reaction with other products or our skin type. Start by testing new products and replacing old

ones. This is the best way to determine if the products we thought were helping us are actually causing damage. Everybody’s skin is different so a product that may have been recommended to you by a friend may not work the same on your skin. Play around to find the best products for you. Ask a dermatologist to take a look at your skin and have them recommend products they think would be a good fit for your skin type. Remember to think about this during your makeup routine too. How long have you been wearing your foundation? When was the last time you washed your brushes? These are also important factors to consider. Try using a new powder or foundation and see the impact is has on your skin. Finding the best products takes time but it will be worth it. Taking off your makeup before you fall asleep is also important, but it isn't enough. Makeup wipes can almost never remove all of the makeup from your pores. After your makeup is removed alway wash your face with a cleanser. This will ensure clean skin. Little things like switching up diets, trying new products or even changing your pillow cases more frequently can be the best ways to seek clear skin. Remember to relax and avoid stress for that can also have affect on your skin. We’re not all born with perfect skin but we can always reach it eventually.
