WHATS UP VLOG? WHEN YOU GO ON YouTube, you see a lot of famous vloggers making millions by uploading videos. Creating a channel isn’t the hard part, it is coming up with interesting ideas to keep your audience interested. There are many topics you can vlog about. whether it’s going on a target run or vlogging yourself going to the beach. There a couple tips to know when you start vlogging. TIP 1. When you are in front of the camera make sure to always be yourself. No one wants a fake vlogger who acts different to just get more views or seem cooler. The audience loves the natural self of you. It makes this easier on you to not feel so much pressure to be “perfect”. TIP 2. Try your best to keep up with your videos. It’s best to be consistent when you upload. Like every Tuesday or every other Sunday. That way your audience can keep up with your life and you don’t slack off and post 3 months later with a random video. TIP 3. Lastly, keep your videos interesting. No one really wants to sit through a video that is just a plain video of someone talking with no edits. There are always cool edits and apps you can download. Think of your location too. If you’re in your room every single video,

If you’re in your room every single video, try a new location to change it up. TIP 4. Promote your channel. You won’t get a lot of views if you don’t post your account on any other social media platform. It is best to post a picture of your latest video or channel on Instagram, Snapchat, or Twitter. You will get a lot more views because people will know you have a channel and are interested in it! TIP 5. Stay up to date. Look up what’s trending and see what you think is popular enough where the audience is interested enough to click on you video. If there a certain video that’s trending, don’t copy but switch it up a little bit with a twist.

TIP 6. Be confident in your videos. It is scary sometimes when you’re in front of the camera or it is a lot pressure because your scared you might mess it up. But don’t worry, bloopers/ mess ups are perfect! That’s the way the audience sees the natural you! Lastly, TIP 7. Improve each new video. As you keep making videos make sure that you are watching yourself and see what you can do better to improve. If you notice you aren’t speaking clearly or mumble words, take notes and speak clearer in your next video. It is not necessarily that you are doing bad, it’s just the fact every Youtuber has their struggles and can always improve on something! To sum everything up, do not stress about getting everything right the first time because no one is perfect. Just be the best you in front of the camera, try new things, and always keep updated on your videos!

Kansas City Adventures

“Kansas isn’t that bad” is a phrase I’ve heard my whole life. The truth is, there’s more to Kansas than corn fields, the word “ope”, and driving around as something to do. Kansas City found in the heart of the Midwest and also known as “The City of Fountains”. This city is filled with exciting places to go and things to do! Murals! Murals are an easy place to take some fun and interesting pictures to update your feed! The city is filled with an abundance of Instagram worthy picture opportunities. There’s a wide range of murals; from graffiti art to buildings just waiting to be posed in front of, you’re sure to find the perfect spot! Some of the most popular ones are #KC Loves mural, Kansas City Love Mural, Luv Midtown KC Mural, and “The Strip” (pictured). The Strip is a name I gave the strip of vibrant and expressive murals. This location is a little harder to reach but definitely worth the extra effort! Speaking of artsy picture opportunities, who doesn’t love a charming little coffee shop?! Kansas City is filled with tons of adorable coffee shops to load up on some caffeine, catch up with friends, or just get some work done! Some recommendations include: Goat Hill Coffee & Soda (pictured), Café Equinox, Messenger Coffee, and one of the many Roasterie Café locations. These shops have inviting décor and a social atmosphere to make your experience one to remember! The City also has great shopping variety too! The Country Club Plaza is one of the largest shopping centers in Kansas. It can be found about fifteen minutes outside the Crossroads District. The Plaza consists of 173 retail stores and over 30 dining options, perfect for a night out! Pictured is, Made in KC Marketplace, a shop filled with KC merch and an insta-worthy ice cream shop. Kansas City also hosts the largest vintage and antique shop in the United States, “First Fridays.” In the West Bottoms, you’ll find numerous shops, pop-ups, food trucks, and live entertainment. Several local businesses, arts organizations, and galleries showcase local, regional, national, and international artists. This shopping event takes place on the first Friday of every month and has been described as the city’s liveliest and most popular recurring event! If you’re looking for cheap entertainment, look no further. Kansas City is filled with bikes and motorized scooters available to rent. There are many different brands, Bird, Spin (pictured), and BCycle. These products can be found in most cities and the going rate to rent is about a dollar per minute, or $25 to rent for a whole month. Renting either of these items can put a fun twist on getting from point A to point B quickly. Here were some highlighted points of interest, but there is so much more to Kansas City that has yet to be discovered, so get out there and explore!

6 Trends Making a Comeback The fashion world right now is experiencing lots of throwbacks to trends from a wide range of centuries. We find that styles comeback because they are useful and even nostalgic. The fashion world is on a cycle that goes through trends and comes back to them every 15 years. Many of the comeback styles this year are from the 1980s and 1990s. During this time the fashion style was full with life, inspiration, and boldness. This was an iconic time to be a designer and make major statements. This still infects our fashion today. We tend to like the new fashion trends, but the old ones will never be gone for good. Here are some of the trends from the 80s and 90s that are making major comebacks.

High Waisted Mom Jeans This style is iconic and flattering for any time during the day or night. This type of style of pants helps someone have an elongated torso and a cinched waist that many people strive for. These were originally fashionable in the 1980s and mainly worn by middle aged American women. Now, you will see younger women wearing them and combining them with a crop top.

Bomber Jackets Bomber jackets are traditionally made of leather and have a fitted or elastic waist, a zippered front, and a fleece collar. These jackets are originally based off of the jackets from the air force jackets that the fighter pilots wore. They were first recognized in Europe around the 1960s and the public took that style and made it into what it is today. Fanny Packs Whether you like it or not, the fanny packs are making a comeback. This small fabric pouch is worn around the hips or cinched around the waist. This bag is useful for small things like phones, keys, etc. Many wear fanny packs when they will be walking for a while and they do not want the strain on the back or shoulders that a regular bag would give you. This bag gives you a fun and hip look while doing leisure activities.

Submariner Sunglasses Just like the name suggests, the submariner sunglasses originated from the Navy Branch. This style of sunglasses gives you a classy and modern look. You can piece this with any outfit and we can guarantee that you will be satisfy with your look. They provide coverage for your eyes and have a classic look.

Chunky Sneakers This shoe contains a triple-layered sole that gives it the “chunky” look of the sneaker. This is styled with jeans, skirts, and slip dresses normally. Originally worn in the 1990s, this type of shoe makes eyes turn to them. Not only are they comfortable but they are highly fashionable. Scrunchies No matter what generation you are from the scrunchie was always around the corner. This fabric covered elastic hair tie was first made in 1963 by Phillips E. Meyers but didn’t get the attention from the public until the 1980s. Wearing this in your hair will give you the retro look and it will not indent a line in your hair like other hair ties. Or you can wear them on your wrist and it will give the same look of a bracelet.

[Self Care]

What is Self-Care? Why? Life is insane and everyone is crazy busy. Often, we find ourselves stressed, exhausted, and feeling sick. This is because most people do not find the time to do a self-care routine. Self-care is crucial in our busy lives for may reasons. A self-care routine will help with anxiety, stress, and improve moods and self-esteem. You will live a positive, energized, and balanced life that everyone will be envious of.

How to Engage?

There have been many books and studies done to find ways to implement better self-care throughout our day without taking any extra time. Remember that this needs to be personalized to you and you alone. Some may not work out in your schedule, but we like to say some is better than none. Here are 6 ways to implement self-care into your schedule. 1. Sleep Yes, we are saying to take more time to sleep it is key for us to function. It will help with stress and energy. Here are some ways to achieve better sleep: - Remove all distractions (Phones, Television, Laptops, etc.) - Keep the room dark, maybe invest in room darkening curtains - If you cannot fall asleep, find a book and read. This is way better for your brain than any screen. 2. Eat Right The food we eat effects our mental and physical health. Mentally it helps with keeping us alert and working. Physically it effects our weight and protection against diseases like diabetes. Try eating more foods like fatty fish, blueberries, nuts, green leafy veggies, and brassicas, like broccoli. Something that will also help would be to cook your own food. Its relaxing and you know what you are eating. 3. Exercise Daily Exercising can help with lifting moods and destressing. It does not have to be going to the gym everyday and completing a three-hour workout. It can be as simple as taking your dog for a quick walk or doing a quick yoga session. 4. Go Outside! Taking a trip outside will really help with being peaceful. It is a great way to reduce stress and depression. 5. Self-care Day Trip Get away for the day or even weekend once in a while. Go and rejuvenate yourself. You do not have to anything expensive. Do something that makes you happy like go sight seeing in the next town over, take a camping trip, or do a spa day at home. The point is to get away from your regular schedule. 6. Get Organized To start, figure out what you need to do to get a healthier lifestyle. Planners and calendars are highly recommended with organizing time and knowing what you are doing every day. Then look for small ways you can implement self-care into your day. You can go to bed early and wake up earlier to take time to go on a walk or make something for breakfast. There is no reason to spend your life stressed, worried, and sick because we cannot find time to take care of ourselves. You are just as important as any other person. Take time for yourself and thrive.

thrifting like a pro Vintage aesthetic has become a huge fashion movement and can be easily attained through thrift shopping. Thrift shopping is one of those things that may take a couple of tries to learn how to get the most out of your trip. This here is the ultimate list with tips from my personal experience and outside research to make sure you find those hidden vintage gems. Before entering the thrift store: Keep an open mind. This is a perfect opportunity to step outside your comfort zone and experiment with styles you aren’t usually drawn to. If you feel like an item has potential give it a chance! Don’t judge a book by its cover. Meaning, if the store itself isn’t in the best part of town or smells funny, don’t let that scare you away. That doesn’t mean they won’t have any steals. Although, location does play a small role in the thrifting experience too. If you have your heart set on name brands, look at a store in an upscale area. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t find anything right away, try new places! Many thrift stores have deals and weekly

promotions to look out for. Even though the clothes aren’t very expensive, why not save the extra money? Some stores post monthly calendars on their website displaying what days are having certain sales. For example, students get 10% off every Sunday at Goodwill. When inside: Thrift stores are filled with hundreds of brands and with each brand, the sizing chart may vary. I’d recommend wearing something easy and comfortable to get on and off to make the trying-on process smoother. Trying pieces on will give you a better idea of what you like to see yourself in and will help keep you from buying unnecessary items. I recommend giving yourself plenty of time to dig around. You want to be able to have the time to sift through everything, so you don’t feel like you’re missing out on anything. Whenever I go thrifting, I have the most luck in the men’s section. The men’s section usually has more styles and colors when it comes to jeans, t-shirts, and sweatshirts. At the end of the day, the way the article of

clothing fits and makes you feel is the only important detail. Start at your “most wanted” section. This is important to do first that way you spend as much time as you need there. This, for me, is always jeans. I‘m always on the lookout for a new pair of jeans. Always check for damage. This is crucial because you want to make sure you’ll wear the article of clothing. Nothing worse than finding a steal, then donating it right back because of a gross stain or big hole. Another huge tip is to try and avoid buying things just because they are cheap. This is one of the hardest things I came to learn. My addiction was weird t-shirts and sweatshirts. I ended up donating a lot of my findings back because I didn’t wear them as much as the rest and they took up too much space. No sense in spending money on useless things; so, if you see yourself wearing the piece in an outfit regularly, buy it. Upcycling is a great way to put a personalized spin on an article of clothing. Upcycling is

when you reuse, in this case, clothes, to revision it into something fresh and in. Popular examples include distressing jeans and cropping shirts. It’s important to be creative with this to make your unique finds stand out. Washing your pieces is very important. You don’t know where they came from or when they were washed last so before you even think about wearing it, wash it. Along with this tip, wash or sanitize your hands on the way out. With everything you touched, it can’t hurt to wash them again. Lastly, be respectful to the people around you. Always keep in mind that thrift shopping could be some people’s only means of shopping. Don’t be the dummy making fun of what people may have donated or be buying. Also keeping mind shopping etiquette, try not to leave clothes in the fitting room and misplace things on purpose.

GOING GREEN Nowadays we try to protect our planet the best we can. That is why there are many things you can do to GO GREEN. Companies see that plastic in the ocean is an issue, so they are trying to help the world cut back on using plastic water bottles and start using reusable insulated water bottles. A big marketer is HydroFlasks. HydroFlasks vary in size to kids small (12oz) to the biggest size “wide mouth” (64oz). They are a top hit and help many people stop using plastic water bottles and helps people drink more water! Another helpful purchase to go along with your cup is a metal straw! Metal straws have recently come out and help save the world from the plastic use. They are affordable and some are bendable to wear they can be put in a tiny case and hang right on your keychain! Metal straws help eliminate the usage of plastic straws, which could kill turtles and or other sea creatures. Next time you go to the grocery store try to buy the reusable bags that they sell for a dollar. This helps in the future when you grocery shop and you can use the reusable fabric bags rather than the plastic bags. Some people just tend to throw the plastic bags away which is a chance for the plastic to get into the nature and ocean and harm any animals. Cutting down on your electric is also a friendly tip for going green. It saves a lot of energy and if everyone cut down, imagine what the world would be like. It also can save you money! Which everyone loves to save money, don’t be paying so much for your electricity bill when you know you can do things to cut down on electric. Remember to always pick up after yourself and even others. People will litter whatever they want and that can be so bad for the environment. It can be landfill and harm animals in the ocean as well.

We all added our personal touches and created articles based off our hobbies and what we like to do in our free time. All of us are hoping you enjoy reading our magazine as much as we enjoyed working on it.
