Georgian
The georgian style houses were symetrical on both sides. They made it so that if you cut it in half it would be the same on both sides. Usauly has lots of symetrical windows.
Federal
The Federal style borrowed heavily from the contemperary europian influence. it is a symetrical box shape and is usualy two or three rooms deep and two or three stories tall. Most of the time it was made out of brick.
Greek Revival
it was marked by simple wall-surfaces with attention concentrated upon stuctual members and functional necessities. Walls are usually plain plasdtered surface. chimneys were often plain marble.
Italianate
it has nearly flat roofs, wide eaves, and massive brackets. they had a balanced rectangular shape. they were usualy two to three stories high and wide. Heavily molded double doors were also a big part
Victorian
Has a look to it that you could compare to a dollhouse. It was imposed by the elaborate gothic style. There are very few victorian style houses that look the same. Usualy are not very symetrical or balanced.
Colonial Revival
the facade is generally symetrical which gives it formality and balance. some faces of the colonial houses were brick but most of them were wood. light colors were the prefered colors.
Prairie
Usualy 2 story dtructures with single story wings. They utilize horizantal lines. Generaly sloped roofs with heavy-set chimneys and overhangs. windows are usualy large.
Craftsman
Most of the time they were one storied and has agental slow roof. usualy has eaves abouve the deep porch which has destinced square pillers. the interior beams are traditionaly exposeed and used as decorsative elements.
Ranch
Ranch houses are one story houses. They are longer thwn most houses. they are good for small familys. sound travels very well throught the houses. Usaully have small colomns. most of the time they have long porches.
Shed
Have multiple single planed roofs. The roofs are slanted and are differnt from plane to plane. they create unique styles and different doorways. large windows are usually aranged outisde. They almost never have flat roofs.
A-Frame
These houses are more popular in the northern side. They have slated roofs that are very verticle. They look like a gaint triangle. Usaully have big windows in the front and normal sized doors. Use the roofs to keep snow off
Geodesic
These houses are really rare. they look like a giant soccer ball. They usually have many windows and the windows are very large. the roof is a complex network of triangles made to look like a large sphere.
