Architectural Styles from 1700
Georgian
Revived in late 19th Cuentury as colonial revival. Stylish Characteristics that adhere to the time that is was popular. pilasters and windows are some of the key features as well as brick.
Federal
federal style has a lot of windows and usually has a lot of shrubs or bushes out front of the house. there will also be two chimneys, one on each side making the house symmetrical.
Greek Revival
characterized by large columns and occasionally a chimney on each side. a walk out balcony on the second floor is common.
Italianate
reminds the people looking at it that they are either in italy or somewhere italian. has red roofs commonly and arched windows. shrubs are common and pops of color outside.
Victorian
old rustic looking with brick fireplaces/chimneys. windows will usually have shutters and it is common that the colors are green or blue
Colonial Revival
government looking house such as the white house. windows are very common and symmetrical up and down.
Prairie
a somewhat modern looking house that is very common in the subdivisions and sometimes out in the middle of nowhere, where there is lot of space to build.
Craftsman
this house reminds me of modern family and is a typical house that a growing family would live in due to the layout and possibilities to add on.
Ranch
one level houses meant to raise family in due to the accesability and possibilities to build on to. usually common in subarbs and in the midwest.
Shed
slanted roofs facing opposite ways are the key characteristic along with hard wood and a more futuristic looking design.
A-Frame
house front and back looks like an A and is nice for states that have a lot of weather due to the possibilities to let snow run off. not good for a growing family.
Geodesic
shaped like a dome, not going to be found in subdivisions usually. used sometimes as astrological viewing stations because of the windows and 360 access unlike a house with normal walls.
