Mission Project – CROP Walk, Today Our mission project for the month is CROP Walk. This event takes place today. Registration starts at 1:30 PM and the walk begins at 2:30 PM. CROP Walk begins at Corpening Plaza, 231 1st Street W, Winston Salem. All of the money raised from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County CROP Hunger Walk is used to support hunger alleviation programs. The walk is about 2 miles long. We will still collect money for CROP Walk today. Our goal is to raise $1500 so please plan to participate and/or please give generously. Prayer Day – Forsyth Prison & Jail Ministry Today is Prayer Day for the Forsyth Prison & Jail Ministry. Please be in prayer for Rev. Robert Wolfe, our Moravian Chaplain, the victims, those imprisoned and their families. Pastor Matthew Away This Week Pastor Matthew will be away tomorrow through Thursday on vacation. If there are any emergencies or pastoral needs, please contact Doug Gordon 336.416.5797. Senior Friends – This Wednesday The Senior Friends will fellowship together this Wednesday, beginning at 10:30 AM. Mr. J.R. Snider, WSJS Morning Show Host will present a “Facts on WinstonSalem” slide show. A light lunch will be served. Please sign up on the Senior Friends’ Bulletin Board outside of the Library. Trunk or Treat Carnival and Supper -- Sunday October 30, 5:00-7:00 PM Our Senior Highs and Middle Highs invite all the children of the church and friends to our Trunk or Treat Carnival and Supper on Sunday, October 30, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Enjoy the Trunk or Treat, where many of our members will decorate their vehicle trunks and offer a treat to all that stop by. We will have fun games and activities for all ages! If you are interested in participating in our Trunk or Treat contact Evie Blum (olivet.dce@windstream.net) or the church office. You don’t have to make your vehicle trunk an elaborate display, just make sure it’s kid-friendly and non-scary. Make sure you have plenty of candy available for the trick-or-treaters that walk by. Thank you for all your support and remember to invite your friends and neighbors to come out for a fun evening of Trunk or Treat and Supper!
Newsletter Deadline – This Thursday Any information that needs to be in the November issue of The Olivet Reporter please have it in the church office no later than this Thursday, October 20th. Please have your information in Arial, 10 font. Fall Bazaar Is Coming Soon – Saturday, November 5, 8 AM – 2 PM.!!!! Our Fall Bazaar will be held on Saturday, November 5 which will be here before we know it. It takes many church members to make the Bazaar a success! Thank you so much in advance for your willingness to help! Homemade Goodies Needed We need church members to prepare homemade baked goods; pies, cakes, breads, cookies, candies, etc. Prepare ahead and freeze. Used Household Items Needed We need used household items, books, etc. to be sold in the “Lois’ Trash and Treasures” room. Please bring items to the church the week of the Bazaar and by Friday, November 4. No clothing items! For additional information contact Alina Ricardo-Cukiernik at: 336.655.1155. Silent Auction Items Needed As in the past, we will be holding a Silent Auction. If you have items that you no longer use, but are in too good of shape to yard sale or take to Goodwill, we’d love for you to consider donating them to our Silent Auction. We ask that you let us know the item’s worth, what you would like the starting bid to be and we ask that you place your name on the item so we can thank you properly. Any donated items can be left in the office. Moravian Items Needed We will also be making 1 or 2 Moravian Baskets for the Silent Auction, so if you have any Moravian items that you would like to donate for the basket we would appreciate those donations as well. Annual Mission Society Lovefeast – Sunday, November 6 The Annual Mission Society Lovefeast is planned for Sunday, November 6 at Konnoak Hills Church. Following music by the provincial band, the service begins at 3:00 PM. During worship, enhanced by numerous talented musicians, Justin Rabbach from the Board of World Mission will bring a special message.
