The kiosk design was based around the idea of triangulated symmetry with the point aimed at the performance space. This was to reflect the geometric canopy overhead yet not be as abstract in form and blend into the internal environment. In order to be easily located and accessed from both sides, the kiosk was then designed symmetrically as a feature. The kiosk would boast QR scanners for tickets, contactless payment systems and large digital displays located at eye level on the triangular support panels. Inspiration from which came from self service checkouts and kiosks.

KIOSK MANUFACTURE

The sketch models allowed us to quickly come up with some ball park ideas and goals for the kiosk design. The main challenge we set ourselves was to use no glue or tape, therefore meaning we had to design the kiosk entirely to slot together. This was achieved through series of different jointing techniques practiced with test models illustrated here.

The sketch models also allowed us to experiment with how the kiosk would look from different vantage and access points. We decided on a more symmetrical design to allow better access from multiple sides, as well as preventing the geometric kiosk becoming lost in the canopy. KIOSK SKETCH MODELS

Splitter is an art installation as well as a stage design for a music festival in Winnipeg Canada by Martin BÜttger. The construction is based on sharp triangle shapes mirroring the Canadian ice mountains in the same way we intend to mirror the underside of the canopy and it’s internal geometric design in the kiosk. The design is a parasite to the building which was an idea the group were interested in pursuing. KIOSK PRESCEDENCE
